I had a lovely stay at the hostel. I wanted to spend my entire summer holiday in one place in nature, to explore the mountains from and that would feel like home. And boy did I succeed! The guys created a very homely atmosphere, and the animals (including two kittens and a puppy when I was there!) made for an even greater stay. The location of the hostel was perfect for me as well, remote and right next to some amazing hiking trails. I’m looking forward to coming back someday (soon!). Thanks guys, for a great holiday :)

Very nice and relaxing place to be...the host is wonderful and provide all necessary information....I suggest to visit ..good kitchen and garden..you can even hear the music of a nearby river... recommended

We booked the whole place for our group of 11 (6 kids, 5 adults). We had a great time! The hostel is very nice, with rooms to suit everyone (2 people rooms for parents, dorms for the kids), very practical showers, and a great kitchen/common room with a long table for dinner. Great garden with hammocks and ready to eat raspberries :-) The village, Ginzling, is just out of a folk tale, and a perfect starting point for many hikes in the nearby valleys. Everyone wants to come back!

Very nice stay with the guys at backyard mountain, Brent and Vasso make you feel welcome and at home! Dogs are definitely a bonus!

We stayed with Vasso as we traveled through Ginzling on a cycling trip to South Tyrol. Their hostel is amazing and one can see in every corner how much effort and love they devoted to their project. I stayed there for more than 2 weeks. Brent, Vasso and the dogs try their best everyday to offer you a clean and beautiful hostel. I recommend this hostel in the best way possible. 10/10!

I stayed here this summer and from the moment I arrived I knew I wanted to stay longer and extended my stay. This really was a home away from home. I was made to feel so comfortable and Bret was so welcoming. This hostel is the perfect destination for hiking. You can start trails from the hostel or get a bus from right outside of the hostel up into the mountains. I would 100% recommend and would love to go back asap!

Cannot recommend this place enough. Felt like home. Such a warm, welcoming, community feel. Great location with hikes literally on your doorstep or a short bus ride away. The puppy and two kittens was the cherry on top 😆 If you’re a hiker or looking to really immerse yourself in a small town, definitely a good fit. Just keep in mind bus times don’t run late to mayrhofen so can’t go for a late dinner/drinks in town if you’re relying on public transport but in saying that their is a restaurant and cafe in ginzling a few minutes walk from the house

Favorite place I've stayed in the Alps so far. If you're a rock climber, hiker, mountain biker, traveller looking for a bit of grounding and community, or an average Joe trying to tour Zillertal, this place is a wonderful way to have a home away from home in Zillertal. I absolutely loved it, the bed, facilities, location, and the great people I got to see everyday. Thanks Brent and Vasso (and the dogs) for the hospitality!

I have been there to go boarding, awesome hostel. Short ride to Mayrhofen, not expensive with taxi's. Had a great time there! Would go there again next time I go to Mayrhofen!!

Wonderful location with amazing hosts that really made you feel welcome. The rooms were nice with comfortable bedding and a beautiful view. The showers and toilets were very clean and modern. If I ever come back to Austria I'm definitely staying here again, hopefully for longer so I can see all the sights around the hostel.

These guys have created a top guesthouse, great location and service. Hospitality and comfort are the hallmarks of this hostel on the edge of the Zillertal. Perfect base for skiing, hiking and mountaineering. I had the most amazing time at the backyard mountain hostel. The guys really make you feel at home. This beautifull place has a big living room where you can chill, play games and meet other people staying at the hostel. The dorm rooms have enough space and everything is new and clean. Having dinner together and going snowboarding together makes this a one of kind place. Definitely recommend staying here!

It s amazing how a little, quit hidden town can offer so much adventure. The hiking and biking here is amazing, the mountains extremely beautiful, you can climb rocks and in the winter it s one of the best places for wintersport. And if you stay at Backyard Mountain Hotel you are also able to relax, read a book, enjoy the view, maybe draw a bit; simply do whatever you wanna do on a holiday. The beautiful austrian house and nice hosts vasso and brent will make you feel welcome and comfortable. Defenitely coming back here again, both summer and winter!

The silence of this place is really great while it’s in the center of one of the greatest ski-areas from europe. The possibility to cook our own dinner is really very nice. Very friendly owners!
