I had a lovely stay at the hostel. I wanted to spend my entire summer holiday in one place in nature, to explore the mountains from and that would feel like home. And boy did I succeed! The guys created a very homely atmosphere, and the animals (including two kittens and a puppy when I was there!) made for an even greater stay. The location of the hostel was perfect for me as well, remote and right next to some amazing hiking trails. I’m looking forward to coming back someday (soon!). Thanks guys, for a great holiday :)

Very nice and relaxing place to be...the host is wonderful and provide all necessary information....I suggest to visit ..good kitchen and garden..you can even hear the music of a nearby river... recommended

We booked the whole place for our group of 11 (6 kids, 5 adults). We had a great time! The hostel is very nice, with rooms to suit everyone (2 people rooms for parents, dorms for the kids), very practical showers, and a great kitchen/common room with a long table for dinner. Great garden with hammocks and ready to eat raspberries :-) The village, Ginzling, is just out of a folk tale, and a perfect starting point for many hikes in the nearby valleys. Everyone wants to come back!

Very nice stay with the guys at backyard mountain, Brent and Vasso make you feel welcome and at home! Dogs are definitely a bonus!

We stayed with Vasso as we traveled through Ginzling on a cycling trip to South Tyrol. Their hostel is amazing and one can see in every corner how much effort and love they devoted to their project. It was super nice to meet you (again) and we wish you all the best for the future. We hope to stay with you again!

I stayed there for more than 2 weeks. Brent, Vasso and the dogs try their best everyday to offer you a clean and beautiful hostel. I recommend this hostel in the best way possible. 10/10!

I stayed here this summer and from the moment I arrived I knew I wanted to stay longer and extended my stay. This really was a home away from home. I was made to feel so comfortable and Bret was so welcoming. This hostel is the perfect destination for hiking. You can start trails from the hostel or get a bus from right outside of the hostel up into the mountains. I would 100% recommend and would love to go back asap!

Cannot recommend this place enough. Felt like home. Such a warm, welcoming, community feel. Great location with hikes literally on your doorstep or a short bus ride away. The puppy and two kittens was the cherry on top 😆 If you’re a hiker or looking to really immerse yourself in a small town, definitely a good fit. Just keep in mind bus times don’t run late to mayrhofen so can’t go for a late dinner/drinks in town if you’re relying on public transport but in saying that their is a restaurant and cafe in ginzling a few minutes walk from the house
