Exquisite dining experience at this low-key, quaint omakase restaurant in downtown Mountain View. Small interior is elegantly decorated, and seats only 8 at the bar. Reservations only, no walk-in accepted. The sushi is fresh, tasty, and well-presented. Awesome sake menu! Their key difference is that they serve some hard to find items, not just the typical sushi/sashimi items. Expensive, but worth the splurge for a special occasion. Friendly and attentive service. Plenty of paid and free parking within a 5-minute walk.

Dined here for valentine’s day and we were really impressed with the chef’s skill! Intimate seating with only 8 people + the atmosphere is very authentic - really felt like being back in Japan Overall the meal was fantastic as well. We tried a lot of exotic pieces/dishes that you don’t usually see at a standard omakase. All the nigiris were incredible + they have the sweetest hokkaido uni (highlight of the meal!)

Excellent, a focus on offering more unique items than Yoshizumi which helps it standout while maintaining a high standard. Execution is always great on standard menu and have had great fish here. Just want more and slightly better nigiri

Overall a great omakase experience with high-quality ingredients. I’ve been there twice, and the second time they intentionally changed the menu, which I really appreciated. The fish and other ingredients were fresh and seasonal. I especially like how the chef seasons the food just enough to let the natural flavors shine. The price is reasonable for the quality and experience you get.

One of the pricer meals I've had (300+ after tip+tax), but also one of the best. Some dishes genuinely wowed me (like the monkfish liver) and that made the experience 100% worth it.

I recently went to Katsu for my friend's birthday, and wow, what an amazing experience it was! Not only was the ambiance a beautiful, intimate atmosphere, but the staff and chefs exuded this wonderful, fun energy that made the dining experience that much more fun. The food itself was so delicious and so well thought out. From the conversation and observation of the chef's work, you can tell that each step is well thought out and intentional. Thinking about it now makes my mouth water - can't wait to come back again!! 10/10 would recommend for yall to stop by and experience this for yourself!

I had an excellent omakase experience here with more than 20 courses (too much to finish actually)

Celebrated my wife's birthday with an incredible omakase experience! The food, chef, and service were all exceptional. They were attentive to every detail, answering our questions about the dishes and even folding our tablecloth when we stepped away. I would totally go back.

Katsu is a refined, intimate omakase experience that redefines what it means to dine with intention. With only eight seats at the chef's counter, the chef-owner, Katsu Maruyama, treats everyone as a special guest. The omakase menu evolves with the seasons; the meal's pacing is thoughtful, allowing diners to savor each bite while engaging with Chef Katsu, who shares insights into his techniques and ingredients. The fish is incredibly fresh (often flown in from Japan), and the rice is perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere is calm and minimalist, allowing you to focus entirely on the food.

This is a new sushi omakase in Mountain View, many courses and every course is delicious and the menu changes based on seasonal ingredients. Reasonable pricing comparing to other omakase restaurants in SF and Bay Area. Highly recommended.

Simply a delightful experience! This place truly makes you feel like you’re downtown Tokyo indulging in a rich culinary journey. Everything was presented with elegance, timed immaculately and with an incredible level of precision. Definitely worth the price.

Amazing experience, top notch omakase. The nine days aged tuna is amazing, both the lean and the toro. Various silver fishes such as iwashi and the seasonal kisu are also wonderful. Fresh seasonal uni is the cherry on top. The chef and staff are also extraordinarily nice and attentive.

Fine dining at its finest best in a place that appears to be a hole in the wall (without intending to go dine there you probably would walk past it quite easily) . Katsu raises the bar on Omakase eodame style sushi experience serving seasonal catch and in an exquisite manner. You have to use tock to reserve a spot(s). Upto 8 people dine in at a given time in a setup that is pretty intimate with the seats lined up alongside a bar with the chef on the other side serving and talking about the dish being served. Finding parking can be a bit of a challenge though we got lucky and found one in the public parking spot at the back of the restaurant. Once we got in we were greeted by a server/hostess who verified our reservation details and then we got a spot right in the center. The chef welcomed us all in a very traditional way which essentially marked the beginning of approximately 1.5-2 hours of quality time spent eating some amazing work of chef Katsu. I would let the pictures do the talking of what was served though this spot is definitely a game changer in the area as far goes the Omakase experience. Do give it a try!!!

Fantastic Omakase (Fixed-price, Chef's selection) restaurant in MV. Ingredients are flown in daily from Japan. The fresh items are sourced from the best locations in Japan (sweet shrimp from Hokkaido, sudachi from Tokushima, fresh wasabi, etc.) Chef Maruyama has over 27 years of experience, and have worked with Nobu Matsuhisa for 19 years.

Beautiful new omakase counter in downtown Mountain View currently in soft opening. An incredibly special and unique omakase, with a mix of nigiri and other small hot and cold dishes, all of the absolute best quality. Fish, uni, and roe all from Japan. Chef was kind and helpfully explained what we were eating. Unusual and lovely order to the meal, left feeling perfectly full which isn’t always the case with omakase. Every dish was inventive and wonderful - for example monkfish liver, lightly smoked salmon nigiri, shad with kelp, and torched barracuda. Thank you so much for having us!

Very good experience. Also learned other restaurants owned by the chef: one already visited multiple times, will visit the remaining.

My partner and I dined at Katsu on 7/19 and were thoroughly impressed by every course - both the presentation and flavors. My favorites were the corn and bonito starter, monkfish, seaweed and roe, and the seafood tamago dessert. The service and atmosphere were exceptional. Will definitely come back here in the future.

Lovely experience! All the sushi pieces delicious!! Fish were fish. Non of the dishes particularly stood out in terms of the taste and look. Service is awesome, clear description provided from chef on how each piece was prepared and where they originated from. Wasn’t a fan of the seafood tasting tamago dessert.
