Bourbon House New Orleans Reviews
Bourbon House was suggested by a friend so we decided to try for dinner. It is located near the end of Bourbon Street. Beautiful Restaurant. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Bourbon Shrimp appetizer and the BLT chopped salad. The Bourbon Shrimp were amazing. Highly recommend. We sat near the big windows looking out to Bourbon Street and saw lots of interesting sights and some great Street music.
Had the shrimp and grits while my date had the alligator ragu. Shrimp and grits were hands down the best grits meal I have ever had. Terry was my waiter, great job by him though he's a little quiet since the environment is loud. It was cold in the restaurant and I usually run hot so I know it's cold for people who are also cold usually. That's the only reason for the 4 on the atmosphere. Bourbon milk punch was fantastic as was my bourbon Street cocktail. I definitely recommend the milk punch as a dessert it's more of a milk shake than a creamy cocktail.
We had an amazing time at Bourbon House! The drinks were absolutely top-notch, especially if you're a whiskey lover. The prices were hands down the best on the strip, which was a pleasant surprise for such a popular spot. What really made the night was our bartender, super friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend stopping in if you're looking for great vibes and even better drinks in the French Quarter!
I visit New Orleans often and I have passed this place more than I can count, and as a rule I don’t dine on Bourbon Street, however yesterday I decided to give it a chance. I was not disappointed! Food was excellent! Hank, my server, was affable, clever and on point. He did a great job with my table and every table in his area. The catfish was cut slim allowing it to be extra crispy which I love. Atmosphere was visually appealing and welcoming. Great spot for lunch or dinner - likely the only place on Bourbon street you’d actively seek out!
The place has great aesthetics. overall, the staff was nice, but I had one bartender who kind of catered to light-skinned persons before seeing others. several other bartenders, started their shift and they made the experience a lot better. The bartenders were very verse of their menu. Also gave great selections. I will try them again.
Went here after our flight got cancelled, we had the best dining experience we have had in a long time. Our waitress and the manager turned our whole day around just by being so friendly and pleasant. We were glad we were able to be in New Orleans for an additional day given the circumstances. I would definitely recommend the homemade praline cheesecake. All the food we ate was super delicious and well worth the price. Thank you all for the awesome experience!! I wish we could come back sooner!!
Yummm !! The food was absolutely amazing !! The bar side is beautiful. I took raw oysters and the charbroiled oysters. The latest was just simply delicious. Then I took a second appetizer as meal, the bourbon glazed shrimps. Wow ! I'd like to also give a shoutout to our waitress, Ashley. She was super nice. If I wasn't living so far (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) this would be my go to restaurant. I recommend ! 🖤 Don't hesitate to like if my review was helpful. 🙏🏽
I can't say enough good things about Bourbon House! The atmosphere is phenomenal- everything was so beautiful and on point for NOLA. But the food, drinks, and service- WOW!! Katie took incredible care of us. She was super attentive and so friendly. There was even a birthday card on the table for my best friend and I. The night we were there, they were out of alligator, so they were offering crawfish with the bolognese instead. I've never been so glad a restaurant was out of something! It was SO good! The bourbonyaki pork belly was the best I've ever had. I also highly highly recommend the crab claw bordelaise, and a bourbon milk punch (to go, because I was too full).
Spent 3 days in Nola and had the opportunity to check out tons of good food. This place had the best food we ate all weekend. The staff was super friendly ask for Alvin he was the best server we had while we were down here. If you go you must try the crab claw appetizer it was delicious, so good we ordered another round! We also ordered the alligator wings which was a first for all of us, also highly recommend try them! This place is highly recommended 5/5 ⭐️ you can not go wrong with whatever you order, all the food we tried was phenomenal! Again highly recommend this place, best food in Nola and biggest selection of bourbon!
Every time I visit the French Quarter I dine here. This is easily one of my favorite spots. Rachel was fabulous and had some great recommendations for food options. This was my first time having lunch here and the blue crab melt was amazing. The crab claws never disappoint. I highly recommend!
We Love Bourbon House 💕 We come to NOLA a few times a year and this place is one of our faves! Always treated well! We love the bar area for eats and drinks! Order the gumbo with an extra side of rice, the oysters, fish sandwich are all GREAT! We also order the bottle of cava at 36.00 for a deal on drinks 🥂
Walked in tonight (randomly) for a pre-dinner drink + appetizer and sat at the oyster bar. I'm just gonna say if you make it on a night that Chad is shucking oysters, you are set. He is personable, delivers the best service, and oysters. Our group was impressed with his service and conversation. He is a gem that is worth the trip.
Loved the vibe of this restaurant and it right on Bourbon Street! Ordered the boudin balls, shrimp & grits and shared oysters with crab. Boudin appetizer was good, shrimp & grits were one of the best I've had so far in NOLA and oysters were really good. I would definitely come back again. We sat at the bar and had laughs with people... it was a nice vibe.
Ivan and Perry did amazing! I hope you all are recognizing the bartenders, in addition to the servers. Those two did amazing Al’s truly made the meal more enjoyable! Food was so good we forgot to take photos. We had the chargrilled oysters, Brussels sprouts, and shrimp boudin balls. Justin was a server who passed by and gave great info on the city.
This gem is attached to the Astor Hotel. They absolutely did not disappoint! We ordered a couple of ipa’s to start along with the seafood gumbo, then for entrees we had the pork belly and the alligator and crawfish rigatoni. Served with complimentary french bread these options were incredibly delicious! The pasta was perfectly cooked, pork belly had the right amount of crush, and the spice infused gumbo slapped stupid hard! Our server Angel was new but was super sweet and had a wonderful team behind him in Giovanni and Suzy! We were overall well taken care of and absolutely enjoyed every bite! We will be back and certainly plan on sending our fellow foodies their way! Good show yall, we appreciated your hospitality!
We made a reservation as soon as we checked into our hotel and headed straight to Bourbon House for dinner. The restaurant is located on a lively stretch of Bourbon Street, and the atmosphere hits you immediately — vibrant crowds and incredible live jazz spilling into the street. It felt like the perfect New Orleans welcome. We were seated right away, and the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. To start, we ordered the char-broiled oysters — rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. For the main course, we had shrimp and grits and the fried shrimp platter. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and full of classic Louisiana flavor. We finished with crème brûlée, which was smooth, creamy, and the perfect sweet ending. Everything came out quickly, the food was excellent, and the overall experience was fantastic. Definitely a spot we’d return to on our next visit to New Orleans.
I dined in yesterday , my server Wendy was so amazing I didn’t know what to order her recommendations were so good .. The pork belly is top 10 ! Even though our sever had many tables in her section she was still able to give of top tier service and was very attentive I recommend bourbon house 10 out of 10 my experience was phenomenal!!
Place is beautiful, we were seated upstairs which was nice looking down on the rest of the restaurant. Waitress was extremely nice and attentive. Food was great. Started with the chargrilled oysters and flatbread muffalatta both awesome. I had the alligator and crawfish rigatoni which I loved wife had the BBQ pork chop which she said was good. Great experience would definitely go back if in New Orleans again.
Worth every penny. I had the alligator and crawfish rigatoni. After a long day of drinking it was a great spot. No dress code required and the staff was very nice and welcoming. All of them had a good smile, attitude, and work ethic. Location is great, just right at the beginning of the French Quarter, and within walking distance to Canal, Royal, and Bourbon streets. MAKE A DANG RESERVATION AS IT WAS SLAMMED! Thank you!
A big bold hidden gem in the French Quarter. Great food and good service. Pricey but not excessively so. If you're in the French Quarter looking for a traditional New Orleans meal, you cant go wrong with the Bourbon House.
Visited on Friday, January 9, 2026. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Lovely waitress I wish I could remember her name. Food was the best dinner we had in New Orleans! Filet for me and burger for my husband; both cooked to perfection and full of flavor.
A more upscale atmosphere right on Bourbon Street. The food was excellent and while it didn't appear very busy the service was a little slow...we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't a big deal but as were seated near where the food came out to be staged we commented on how slow it was to get the food out quickly. Overall a great experience and would go again!
I was in the other night mourning the loss of my dearest family pet. I planned to drown my sorrows in a few drinks after a long day of mourning. I was immediately greeted by the bartender and her presence made the entire night incredible. She heard me out and helped me forget for a bit after a long day of tears. I know I’ll be back and recommending my friends and family to come here anytime thanks to my experience with her. Look forward to my next visit soon.
My fiancé and I came to Bourbon House this evening. Espy was our waitress. Not only was she very positive, when we asked for recommendations, her suggestions were perfect. We had a beautiful time. Wonderful food, and refreshing drinks. If we come back, we would love to do it over again with Espy. It was great! I don’t know what she makes, but she probably deserves more.
I had an amazing experience at Bourbon House in the heart of the French Quarter! The food and atmosphere were fantastic, but what truly made our visit stand out was our server, Jake. Jake was incredibly friendly from the moment we sat down — welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Jake really went above and beyond. She gave us great recommendations for things to do around the French Quarter — from places to grab drinks to must-see Jazz spots. She made the rest of our night even better. Bourbon House has great food, lively atmosphere, and exceptional service — thanks to Jake, we’ll absolutely be back!
Another amazing experience at Bourbon House in New Orleans! Frank was, once again, the man! So nice, so knowledgeable and fun! Jake (female) was also amazing. She was very sweet, great personality and really cared. We love this place!
Food was amazing had the crawfish alligator rigatoni, bbq burban pork belly burnt ends and the gumbo and every bit of it was so good 10/10 would recommend. Angel was our server he was a nice young man. Giovanni and Susie Were very pleasant and helpful as well always willing to help as they were passing by not even our server but very pleasant attentive and kind
Came in on Monday for dinner with a couple friends, Gio took care of us and couldn’t have asked for a better server! He was prompt and professional and kept the water full. The food was phenomenal and the drink I had (dark and stormy) was exceptional! 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone that is spending time in the French quarter!
We were in Thursday night after trying to get dinner at two other places. What a delight. All of the staff were amazing. We were greeted by three friendly Hostess so welcoming and complimentary. No wait time. The person who seated us was gracious. Our waiter Josiah was exceptional, knowledgeable and endearing. Our food was great. A manager came to check on us who genuinely cared about our experience. I wish I could give more stars!!!

Rico los cócteles... Pidan su Sazerac... Rico...
Excelente comida
We were hungry and looking for a place to get oysters. This was my second time here, but the first time we didn't have a great experience. This time changed our experience and our minds. The atmosphere is cozy and the restaurant space is beautiful. I recommend their charbroiled oysters, they're absolutely delicious and made so well! It's garlicy and salty, so good. Compared to Acme oysters, I like these oysters a bit more because there's no cheese and feels a bit less heavy. Their fresh oysters are delicious as well, I really enjoy them. They're salty and fresh, tastes delicious and yummy. It is a bit pricey for oysters $21-27 depending on if you get fresh or charbroiled! Their cocktail drinks are also very good and made well! We were given bread and butter for the table, crackers, and some condiments for the oysters. Overall, the pairings were delicious and went well together. Our server was very attentive, helpful, and service was fairly quick. Everything was fresh, delicious, and served timely. I would recommend coming here for oysters, drinks, and a wonderful experience.
We chose this restaurant because many of the others in the area serve mostly fried seafood, and we wanted grilled or broiled. Bourbon House is a large restaurant that is also light and airy. The soundproofing is good, too, because we could hardly hear the brass band playing immediately outside on the street. The seafood gumbo is pretty good, as is the Bourbon House salad with grilled shrimps. My partner had the honey chicken sandwich. The chicken was nice, but the french fries had rather a lot of salt on them. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for its seafood.
Bourbon House is a true gem in the heart of the French Quarter! We were able to get a party of 7-8 seated within minutes of calling — a rare win in New Orleans, especially on a busy night. And the views of Bourbon Street from our table? Perfect. You get the full NOLA energy without being overwhelmed by the crowd. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with upstairs and downstairs seating, plus a private area for events or more intimate gatherings. It’s clearly designed to handle large groups and parties with ease. What really stood out was the attentiveness of the wait staff. From start to finish, they were welcoming, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful — whether you’re a local New Orleanian who knows good, homemade flavor, or a visitor looking for your first real bite of the city, they know what to recommend. They’ll tell you what’s popular, what’s bold, and what dishes hit closest to home-style cooking. Start with the BBQ shrimp — it’s a must. Loaded with flavor and New Orleans soul. The chargrilled oysters were tasty, though a bit less buttery than Acme or Drago’s, and not quite as moist. Still enjoyable! The crab claws were meaty, hearty, and delicious — just wish the portion was a bit more generous because they disappear fast. Not every dish is perfect, but even the ones that don’t quite hit the mark are still solid. It’s the kind of place where you enjoy the full experience, not just the food. And the drinks? Wow. The signature frozen milk punch is a creamy dream for anyone who loves dessert-style cocktails. Add to that an incredible selection of bourbons — if you’re a bourbon lover, you’ll be in heaven. Overall, Bourbon House offers great food, incredible service, fast seating, and unbeatable Bourbon Street views. Whether you’re hosting guests or just treating yourself, this place hits all the right notes. We’ll definitely be back.
For a Bourbon Street (touristy) establishment, the food is pretty good. Rachel was our server…excellent! The red fish on the half shell was recommended, and it delivered. The “half shell” is the crispy skin (I didn’t eat it, and don’t recommend eating it). The fish was well seasoned, light and delicious, but the ounce of “lump crab” I added was bland. For an extra $18, that crab add-on should have been orgasmic, but it was more like a wet noodle. The “crab boiled potatoes (only two of them) were fantastic. But seemingly all their dishes are too expensive for what you get; I guess that’s the cost of their prime location. The other dishes were good but not good enough for a do-over. The service was better than expected. Desert (bread pudding) was good but, again, not worth another visit. Overall decent place, but overpriced for the quality…especially the add-on bland crab that was hardly enough to justify $1.80, let alone $18!
Food is good but pricey but you are getting fresh seafood. Gumbo is alright. The broccoli (I think it was broccoli) with goat cheese was HEAVENLY. The goat cheese was so decadent and creamy. The shrimp po boy was alright but it had an interesting almost acidic taste. It was a decent size and it came with fries...and their fries are very good. We also got their burger which also came with fries. I wouldn't recommend getting an appetizer and assuming it's a big enough portion for a meal. Service was so so good especially considering it was during the snowfall and there were only two wait staff that had been there all day. They were absolutely amazing.
My crocodile and crayfish pasta was really good. Another patron at my table order pork belly, which had no meat on it. It was all fat, so they didn't charge us for it. The shrimp had a very strong smell to it, as though it had been laying around for quite some time and was about to expire. Nothing was done about that when we brought it to their attention.
This place is a New Orleans classic, lately though, as a long time customer, there are some pros and cons…. 1) food is consistently good. Red fish on the half shell never disappoints! French bread unmatched. 2) service consistently leaves a lot to be desired. We waited past our reservation time to be seated even though we arrived early (many empty tables—party of 4). The entire service was slow. We had to look for waitress multiple times and keep asking for refills, etc. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and dinner all in one shot in order to have an efficient dinner timeline. Appetizers came out, we finished them, and drinks still weren’t made. Our drinks came when dinner came. The restaurant definitely lost sales opportunity because we liked the drinks and would have ordered more, but at that rate of service we didn’t want to waste more time. Other things have also cheapened—lemons that are served with dinner no longer come with nets to prevent seeds from falling in your food. To go cups are no longer the “Bourbon House” branded ones. No coasters. Keep the quality and just charge me a little more. We come for nice food, good experience, and high quality, not cut corners. Signed—a NOLA local.
Considering it's in the middle of touristy Bourbon Street, it does cater primarily to tourists. But, the food is pretty good - even for us "NATs" (not a tourist). ;-) To be honest, the gumbo is very good and the crawfish pasta was quite tasty as well. Our waiter (Erol?) was very nice, very friendly, very personable. Overall, we had a nice experience and will be back.
Un lugar exelente , debes visitarlo
Un gran restaurante, con una comida Deliciosa
Buen servicio
We were excited to visit this restaurant for dinner. The food and cocktails were good, but several bourbon options from the menu were unavailable. Also, the place is called the Bourbon House, so how come no glencairn glasses available for neat pours? We visited on a relatively quiet weekday, but our service was slow. We left a bit disappointed.
I had great expectations for this place. We walked in and it was majestic, but that was about it. This restaurant has seen better days and needs a make over. We ordered the gumbo, the roasted oysters with catfish on top, the special soft shell crabs and ended with the apple bread pudding. The gumbo was greasy and only had two small shrimps. The oyster were uneven in size with some very small and the catfish was minute. The soft shell crabs were a little greasy, but the center portion was good. The dessert was just ok. All in all, I will not return to this place. The service was rushed and the food uneven.
the service is outstanding and the frozen milk punch is like a foamy blended frothy and white russian. very good. the salads are decent; each is good for 1 person and the dressings are decent. the fries i thought were way too salty and the place would benefit from a higher quality ketchup. the sandwiches were not as great — fried chicken sandwich is not spicy at all and is QUITE soggy. the crab sandwich is alright but not great. the interior of the restaurant is very nice.
I give 3 stars because my alligator and crawfish pasta was super good. My husband order a burger he said that it was just ok. My daughter got the honey chicken sandwich her bread was burn. The chicken was over crispy in the outside. The fries in both orders were cold. Pork belly appetizer was good and tender. They did remake my daughter bun and change her fries for fresh ones. Price was Almost $90. We were the firsts ones to get there then other people arrive after us and everyone one got there food before us
The ambiance and atmosphere are really nice. The restaurant has tons of bourbon on display hahaha hence Bourbon House but gives it that classic steak and seafood house vibe. However, the main downside was the lack of service, and I can see why some reviews are low. The food was just okay—nothing special. We came here with a bachelorette party on our last evening in town, planning to splurge a bit. Unfortunately, the service was pretty much non-existent. The maître d’ was nowhere to be found; I saw her vaping in the bathroom while changing the toilet paper because there was none at all. Our server was friendly and quick to introduce herself but never returned to check on us or take our order properly. I even asked for bread, and she never brought it. It took a while to get drinks, and overall, the food was mediocre. Despite the disappointing service, my group of gals made the experience much better with their fun energy. Honestly, I’d probably pass on this spot next time. It has a nice vibe, but the service and food didn’t live up to expectations
We stopped in for a few drinks at the bar and received the worst service. We’ve eaten here numerous times and the food is consistent and the service has always been good so this was a huge disappointment. Th bartender, Jake, completely ignored my husband (as in didn’t take his drink order when she asked mine), argued with a customer over what he was trying to order (Sazerac vs Manhattan) and just generally spoke condescendingly and like the customers were an inconvenience to her. Maybe just a bad day, but definitely doesn’t have me wanting to return.
