Amy's Bread New York Reviews
THE BEST carrot cake in the city!! They’re also one of the few bakeries that has true sourdough bread. They have a great selection of fresh baked breads. Try their dinner rolls, too! I absolutely love it!
Super busy when I went but the service was really fast for only two workers!! Someone else grabbed my drink and the cashier remade it for me. I got a latte and bagel sandwich and both were rlly good!
Vibrant bakery inside Chelsea market. I guess they have other locations too. It was quite crowded when we visited, which makes sense because it was the holiday season. They have exquisite collection of different breads and baked goodies. We tasted a slice of holiday cake/ fruit cake. It was just perfect with everything right at place. We bought a pack of biscotti and that was incredible too. I wish I could eat more stuff, however, I will go back surely.
Being for East London I honestly thought we had the best bagels, Wow Amy’s bread in Chelsea market would Brick Lane a run for its money! Great selection of bagels, fillings and sweet treats. Coffee was good, very welcoming and cosy shop. Staff was very pleasant and would definitely visit again on our return.
This was my first time ever at Amy’s bread and I’m so sad we came towards the end of the day! A lot of the bread and pastries were sold out, but I had no idea since there were so many other shops further closer to the entrance and this particular shop was towards the middle or back. Nevertheless, the gentleman working there was incredibly helpful and we ended up getting a blueberry coffee cake slice as well as some walnut bread slice that looked more like a hummingbird cake slice and two different breads that were simply delicious!! The gentleman actually said he was from Oakland, Oakland, California, so that was funny to me since I’m from the Bay Area also. Ambience in the store was very clean and rustic and if they weren’t closing so soon I would’ve stayed to enjoy my pastry, but we had just finished eating at the Japanese taco spot down the street or alleyway? So look for my review on that! I can’t wait to go back to Amy’s bread and try more of their actual loaves of breads, as well as their pastries!!
Good coffee and a nice spot if you're in the area. Good variety and everything was delicious. The only downside was that the tables you can sit at were filthy, they really should take care of that. Prices are high, but that’s understandable since it’s in a pretty touristy market. I still recommend it.
Love Amy's hot chocolate. They make one of the good hot chocolates here. Tastes delicious and actually feels like authentic hot chocolate and not like renamed hot cocoa. Like the fact that it isn't too sweet, which is just perfect for me. Got a chocolate tart being a chocolate lover and just loved it. It's quite delicious honestly. And, got a Whole Wheat Five Grain Bread whole loaf and it tastes heavenly and the freshest. It's a huge loaf and couldn't fit it all in bread box. It's crust stayed firm and inside remained soft until we finished the bread, about 3 days and happy to see it didn't dry out. It is actually one of the good quality breads. However, it had quite a bit of oil dripped in the bread box as can be seen in the photos. Wish they hadn't added so much of fat content to the bread... Also, got a spinach and asiago frittata sandwich which was quite fresh and a good quality one, forgot to take a photo as I got busy eating. :) Will probably try white bean and avocado sandwich next time!
I have been disappointed a few times with Amy's sweet products. Most recently when I bought her Banana Cake with "fluffy cream cheese frosting." The frosting added no taste to the mild flavored decent cake. As a result of the described cake, I would not buy it again.
Showed up at 6:40 PM. The posted hours say the shop closes at 7 PM. There was a “Closed” sign on the door, but it was unlocked, so we went in. When we walked in, the worker behind the counter was taking a bite out of one of the remaining loaves. When I asked about the hours, she said, “Yes, we’re open, but…” then turned up the music and walked away.
French bread in the United States is usually awful, and this is no exception. Amy's Bread baguette has a tough crust and dry crumb. Coming from Argentina, where we have very good bakeries, every time I buy French bread in the U.S. I end up disappointed. This baguette is worse than bad supermarket bread in Argentina and, on top of that, it costs four times as much. It goes without saying that I do not recommend it.
