Beard Papa's New York Reviews
Typically get my dessert from Magnolia or maison Kayser or Levain and wanted to add something new to the program and happy to have stumbled onto this place. I ordered this on Uber eats so I’ll surely be going in person to see the energy and vibe after being pleasantly surprised by the dessert that arrived today. Everything was tasty and a new angle on dessert compared to what I’m used to. They have a great selection of things to choose from for everyone’s liking. Give them a go!
My husband loves this place and while walking we realised there is a location here. I’ve never had it so he told me to try it. We walked in and was greeted by a very friendly employee. I said surprise me and she did. I enjoyed the puff I had. Although I don’t enjoy the calories. But that’s the only drawback and one that’s quickly overlooked. I implore you to try this place.
Went in the middle of the day on a Sunday. We got the crème brûlée and the s’mores with chocolate filling. Both were great but the crème brûlée one was outstanding. Like, insanely good. Highly recommend trying that one. We ate there, but it’s very small inside and there’s only one table, but there’s also a bench outside if it’s not too cold. Do yourself a favor and check this place out Also note that the prices are more expensive if you order online, so recommend going there to order
Sweet treats from Beard Papa's make every day better. The perfect balance of rich and creamy cream without being too sweet keeps me coming back. This is my favorite spot if I need to get a cream puff. The variety of flavors and fillings means there’s something for everyone. Today, we’re trying them all! 🥳I love the creme brulee and matcha. You cannot go wrong with any of the flavors. So what is your favorite? Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
We stumbled upon this pastry shop in NYC as we were walking around. I’d never heard of Beard Papas but they have tons of locations worldwide. I’m not a huge sweets person but my husband is and insisted on coming here to check it out. The cream puff I had was one of best cream puffs I’ve ever tried. It’s light, creamy and very tasty. They have tons of flavors. The shop here in NYC was very tiny, cute and the staff was friendly. If you’re looking for a snack or a treat this place will not disappoint.
Good cream puffs about the size of your heart :) they didn’t have all their menu flavours available when we went, but what the did have was tasty. Definitely recommend mixing flavours and make sure you eat it right away! The shell was crispy with a sweet matcha coating and the strawberry cream tasted fresh and wasn’t too heavy.
Came here to get some cream puffs. The process was very quick (during this covid pandemic). You wait outside in a line and then when its your turn you can go in and order ur cream puffs. The preparation process is rather quick and the cream puffs r freshly filled by the order. I got their strawberry cream puff with matcha custard, their creme brulee cream puff, a regular one, an eclair puff and their... crispy almond puff(?...forgot the name). Most of their creme puffs have the choice of either vanilla, matcha or chocolate custard in it. All were really good, especially the almond one and the creme brulee one. The strawberry one and the eclair puffs were on the sweeter side tho, due to the strawberry chocolate/chocolate dip. Overall, I would come here again for cream puffs 👍.
I’m so glad this Beard Papa’s location opened so close to my work! Now a short walk for the midtown folks craving the delicious and fresh cream puff that originated from Osaka, Japan! My favorite is the strawberry filled with green tea cream, it has the perfect balance of sweetness. Everything is made in house so the puffs are always fresh and such a delight in each bite. I’ve had the puffs from Osaka and this Beard Papa location’s fresh, aromatic, and delicious cream puffs take me back to Japan. In the pictures are: chocolate covered with marshmallow, green tea covered and strawberry covered puffs, with both original and green tea cream filling. This location has great natural light, is clean and the staff is super friendly, I’m definitely a regular customer!
This place got the best cream puffs in town! Awesome service and a definite upgrade from same old donuts and cupcakes! My favorite is the original with either vanilla or matcha filling. Matcha really has a lil bit of matcha bitter taste to it which I definitely dig. Vanilla is not overly sweet and very creamy. Wait time for an order was about 5 minutes, since they do fill it after you order it. So be prepared to wait a little if there is a line! Definitely would go again for a dessert after a meal!
My friends decided they wanted an after-dinner treat and decided to have Beard Papa's cream-filled pastries. This company has been around for ages, and it was a nostalgic visit for those of us who had one near our college stomping grounds. My friends ordered the Ube flavor, but decided to wait until they got home to try them. I went with an Original, which is a vanilla cream-filled puff pastry. It tasted just like I remembered when back in college, so the recipe has not changed after all these years. The pastry is airy, but dense enough to hold up to the cream filling at the same time. The creamy interior is sweet, but not cloyingly so. It's just the right amount of sweetness you'll want after a meal.
Interesting light dessert place. Great concept. You choose you get to choose your shell and which filling you’d like. The filling is custard. Covid precautions are in place. Fluffy, puff pastries. Eclair was amazing, pretty disappointing with the custard filling, expected it to be a little sweet. Would try again. Quick and easy service
Had the creme brulee, awesome taste! Not too sweet and no greasy feeling. Service was friendly and quick. I will definitely come back and try all different flavors! The only concern is that there's no bathroom or enough space for people to sit and eat there. I guess it's only good for a quick small bite, or just order to go.
It's okay but there wasn't much cream in the cream puff. Maybe it's just not my kind of dessert? The taste was okay, not great. Cute place though. Online says they have cheesecake but when I was there they didn't.
I used to love cream puffs from here. Unfortunately, I feel like the quality has gone down. The cream puff was really crispy almost felt more like a croissant texture than a puff. The cream inside tasted really good and they did fill the puff well but unfortunately it didn’t make up for the crispy puff. Staff was nice and they gave me the cream puff really fast. Pretty DISAPPOINTED… I’ve been a huge fan of Beard Papa’s when I was in Asia. I tried out multiple flavors and all of them were awesome. However , the ones here, their crust was not right and the matcha filling was way too sweet. Since the price got tripled in the US, I was expecting at least the same quality as I had in Asia, but nope, they didn’t taste similar at all.
in terms of taste, it wasn’t anything special. i liked the taste of the honey butter puff even though the flavor was more neutral than anything. i also tried the crème brûlée, oreo, and regular puff pastry however i wasn’t a fan of the inside vanilla cream. this is a personal preference since the person with me absolutely loved it. i personally didn’t find the cream to be anything spectacular and i even found myself scraping it off to just eat the outside puff. the cream tasted utterly flavorless. nothing sweet or special about it. one star for good customer service and another star for the good taste of the honey butter puff.
Okay for dessert if you want something messy and not overly sweet. Was eyeing the local food and saw this place. Stopped in to get two cream puffs to try. At the restauranteur's suggestion, got an original with vanilla filling, since its supposedly very popular. I then tried a smores with vanilla ice cream filling for an extra $1.50 on top of the ~$4.50 price. Maybe there is a flavor combination here that blows the rest away, but its not evident by the menu. The combination of flavors and fillings can be overwhelming so someone not familiar with the brand. The original cream puff was just too bland. The smore's was ok with the ice cream, but definitely needs utensils to eat or else the shell topping smears all over your face. Could be for you, but not for me. Not a whole lot of places in that specific area to impulse buy $4-6 desserts, but I'll just go without.
