Grand Sichuan Eastern Central Park South Reviews
This place is a neighborhood gem that we have visited serveral times, despite the stiff competition in the area. It's a nondescript place that serves high quality food. Their food is very authentic, with a mix of standard and lesser known Sichuan dishes. The staff is very friendly.
This restaurant sets the bar high for others. I can't comprehend how they maintain this quality. Their service personnel handle everything expertly. Every sauce and dressing is made that day. We'll definitely be back at this restaurant.
Our go-to Szechuan place, we get take out often and the food has always been excellent and is ready quickly
If you like it spicy & hot , def the place to try. They have speciality sichuan dishes on the menu apart from the regular Chinese. Liked the Chong Qing chicken and other sichuan flavors. The Singapore Mei Fun was also good!
I normally don't write restaurant reviews because I don't care. But this place has the best hot and sour soup in NYC. Just had lunch special, chicken with broccoli w/white rice and hot and sour soup. The Chicken with broccoli is also best in NYC, period. I took off a star for the atmosphere but mainly because it was empty and as I was one of the first two eat-in customers on a rainy day in NYC. The place, however, was 1/2 filled up by the time I was done. You can tell food is good because there were many many many take out orders and pickups. Excellent food.
Really friendly, quick, and great local Szechuan spot. While not on Szechuan row, this place makes several dishes really well and even makes it extra mala for me when I ask. I order here usually at least once, sometimes twice a week. I really like: -ChongQing Spicy Chicken -Parched Chicken with Three Pepper -Gui Zhou spicy Chicken -Spicy Whole Green Pepper I am less of a fan of their cucumber salad and their mapo tofu, but plenty of other dishes to keep me happy. If you like spice, I recommend you skip the American Chinese Food and try something off the special dishes menu, which is primarily Sichuan style food.
The pork soup dumplings here are delicious and my favorite dish to order. But many dishes here are good. Fried rice is pretty good, lo mein is pretty good (though not my favorite). Really loved the Gui Zhou spicy chicken. Beef with green peppers is very tasty. The king pao chicken was also good. The soup dumplings are smaller and not as good when you deliver, but that's a necessity because the real ones wouldn't stay in tact on the trip. They're still good delivered but I highly recommend dining in to have them.
We have been to this restaurant many times over the years including thru different owners. We recently went in for lunch and got the daily specials. General T and beef with green beans. Also got hot and sour soup and brown rice. All very delicious. Not too busy so service was excellent. Then one night we ordered and I went to pickup so we could eat at home. We called and the food was ready for me to pickup in about 20 minutes. Got home and it was nice and hot. Three dishes. All very good.
I normally go for lunch special menu because the price is just perfect for daily meal. My favorite dish here is the fish fillet spicy soup (not the lunch special). Everyone who tried it liked it so far! Only thing you would need to be aware of is to check the take out order because sometimes they mixed up when it’s busy and do the wrong order.
I can see why this place has soo many bad reviews. And unsatisfied customer was leaving and complaining as I walked in, but that holds no bearing on my rating. The food was pretty good but I hate when restaurants rip me off, and the large won-ton soup I ordered only had 4 tiny wontons in it!! I've never had a Chinese restaurant give me 90% liquid and 10% everything else!! I won't be going back.
I used Apple Pay for every other transaction I make while traveling and because of the bad storm in NYC while traveling, I had to place an order over the phone. Although the food was good, I had a nightmare experience after giving this restaurant my credit card number over the phone and soon after, several unauthorized, international charges started appearing on my credit card! I have tried several times to contact the owner, and no one answers the phone. They should immediately destroy any credit card numbers if they are manually writing them down, as it is obvious someone there stole my credit card number.
It's the worst. Take orders for lunch and then forgets to placed them. You go picked them up and they act as if you never call.
I placed an order of broccoli and (garlic sauce). I received broccoli with hot peppers (no garlic sauce). I kindly asked for a refund since I have a dietary restriction and cannot eat spicy food. They refused to provide me a refund and wanted me to choose another item from the menu. As a vegetarian, my options were limited. But the fact is that I shouldn't have to choose something else i don't want to eat just because they want to keep my funds after deceiving me, claiming they could meet my request. I don't plan on returning of course. I definitely do not recommend this place. Update: I noticed that the restaurant replied with lies. Yes i noticed what the the menu said, which is why i called directly asking if instead of a spicy sauce, i could get it with garlic sauce instead and i was told yes. I never ate the food as stated by the restaurant. Don't blame customers because your staff is negligent. Simply train them better.
AVOID! This place used to be really good, but friends and I have noticed a major decline. Chicken has gotten fattier and the food quality just isn't what it once was. The service was never outstanding but the other day I ordered online (2 dishes 2 soups), it said it would be ready in 20 mins. I went to pick it up and the guy told me it would take another 10 minutes. I ended up waiting 40 minutes in the store for a pickup - IT TOOK AN HOUR! I told the guy it was unacceptable and he just stared at me blankly. Good riddance.
Went there on my lunch break hoping to have a nice lunch away from work, given that I always eat in. I had a terrible lunch, first the menu says that they have daily lunch specials it doesn’t say no weekends and they wouldn’t serve me it unless it was ordered to-go, I was disappointed. I still stayed there to order the steamed dumplings they informed me after I had already put in the order it would take 20 mins to prep. So I waited and also ordered the Diced fried fish, it was one the worst foods I’ve ever eaten, very dry, fried with hot peppers. The menu didn’t specify the ingredients. I ended up leaving super angry due that I still had to pay very pricey meal I didn’t eat nor enjoy.
I just ordered their version of "La zi ji" the fried chicken pieces with spicy chilies and I kid you not, half of it was just the dried chilies and peanuts (which you can see, I fished out). It wasn't even spicy at all and I love spicy. Had I known they put peanuts in it, I wouldn't have gotten it. Was better off ordering it in Queens where my friend orders his. Absolute disappointment.
