Beautiful French bistro in a great location. We live in Virginia but come here to eat with our Niece and nephew for a holiday celebratory meal every year around Christmas! I always ask if we should try another restaurant and they always say NO! We try to get a table in the back which is quiet so we can all enjoy actually hearing each other. Food is always delicious and last night was no exception. Two people got the French onion soup and said it was the best they ever had! I had the sole and it was perfect —I knew it would be and recommended that my sister in law have it —she loved it also. Other dishes included the duck and the steak. Perfect as always! We hope to be back again next year. A wonderful tradition!!

A NYC gem, ordered onion soup, escargot, Filet Mignon and Lobster Pasta. The meat was amazing, good perfectly. Onion soup one of the best I've had, escargot flavorful and pasta al dente. 100% recommend

An elegant French bistro by Alain Ducasse. The ambience of the restaurant makes you feel like you're in Paris - it's elegant and not too much over the top. A lot of effort has gone into branding - everything from plates to napkins have Benoit logo on them. The a la carte menu is composed of classic french items plus there is a special simpler lunch menu. We opted for the lunch specials that were generally delicious however remarkably varied in size - e.g. the country salad was rather large while the citrusy branzino carpaccio portion was tiny at best. Grilled dorado with beans - classic and tasty; the veal blanquette was hearty and spot on after the carpaccio. Fresh madeleines on the house at the end of the course was a nice surprise.

Absolutely reminded us of Paris. Chic and elegant. The vibe, the food, the details The maitre and the staff were courteous and so professional. The bartender Nicholas was so friendly and knowledgeable with the wines and the menu. His recommendations of the tart Flambé and the lobster spaghetti were spot on for us.

A modern bistro by the recognized Alain Ducasse offers a piece of France in New York. Traditional and iconic French cuisine specialties as Escargots, Onion Soup, Duck Confit and Steak Frites. Leave room for dessert: the Apple Tarte Tatin and the Pistachio Soufflee are a must. The wine list offers a great selection of choices. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is refined. Highly recommended!

5-Star Review of Benoit New York – A Timeless French Classic, Elevated Benoit New York delivers a masterclass in brasserie brilliance. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance struck a flawless balance between Parisian charm and Manhattan sophistication. But it was the cuisine that truly left its mark. The steak—perfectly seared, richly seasoned, and tender beyond expectation—was easily one of the finest we’ve experienced on either side of the Atlantic. And the duck? A triumph. Crispy skin, impossibly succulent meat, and a sauce so refined it could only come from a kitchen that respects both tradition and innovation. Service was polished yet warm, attentive without intrusion. Benoit doesn’t just serve food—it serves an experience. Whether you’re a Francophile, a foodie, or simply someone who appreciates culinary excellence, this is a table worth seeking out. An unforgettable evening. Five stars, unequivocally.

Excellent lunch experience, was not too full when walking in. Service was efficient throughout. Food is the star here and had the most amazing roast chicken and roast duck mains. The duck was medium rare and the skin had a good crisp to it. The chicken was next level, not dry, flavorful, and also with crispy skin. I ordered some root vegetables as well to accompany, but the beets served with the duck and the fries with the chicken were plenty sufficient. The meal also started with a small cheese puff then and a slice of crusty bread, both quite good. There is an extensive, high quality choice of wines by the glass, so also had a wonderful Chardonnay with lunch. I look forward to returning again!

Outstanding! How did my husband & I not know about this fabulous restaurant with amazing food. We tasted their cassoulet at the famous D’Artagnan Cassoulet War (they won for traditional favorite) and right away decided to book a few days later for my birthday. Culinary excellence in every way.

I had a very nice meal here last night. Food was delicious, balanced, well-seasoned. Pace of the meal was comfortable. Wine selection is deep and interesting; a Pinot from 2017 and an Aligote were fun finds. Tough to find a restaurant with reds btg with that kind of bottle age on them. My main complaint is with the support staff. Several items dropped, including in the staging area between the restaurant and the kitchen. Additionally, the service involves a lot of tableside service. It's a nice touch but it means that there's trayjacks and trays often in between tables, reducing lanes for thoroughfare. I must have had my chair or body bumped five times during the meal, and I am not a large man. Final comment is that for a $500 meal, the table ought to be crumbed and table properly set for dessert. 3.5/5 but I bumped it up for quite friendly, affable, and professional FOH staff. Somm, waiter, and host were all very nice to interact with.

We were seven people at 5:30 on a Saturday night, eating here before a show at Carnegie Hall. The service in this restaurant is outstanding: gracious, efficient, organized and skilled. The ambience is also a big positive here: the décor is pretty and the noise level is nice and low – unusual and welcome for a midtown restaurant on a Saturday night. When it comes to the food, our responses were more mixed. Some dishes are really delicious. The escargot is outstanding: buttery and garlicky, with a delightful little crunchy top. The crème brulée is also a standout: lovely silky texture and wonderfully balanced, rich flavors. No dishes were terrible, but some were a little disappointing. For my entrée I had the beef bourguignon. The meat was soft and flavorful, and the sauce was silky and delicious but none of the expect and desired components of a traditional beef bourguignon were present. No pearl onions or mushrooms or chunks of bacon: just a single chunk of that flavorful meat floating in that silky sauce. A tasty enough dish but not really what one wants or expects when ordering beef bourguignon. The mashed potatoes that come with it are divine, though. My husband is from France and we both thought the pork rillettes appetizer was quite tasty but he thought it should have come with cornichon. The tarte tatin to share was also a bit of a disappointment: too thick and not quite warm or caramelly enough. It also seemed to have a sort of graham cracker-ish crust rather than the rich, buttery sort traditional to this dish. Overall, given the challenges of finding a peaceful, unhurried tasty restaurant in midtown Manhattan on a weekend evening, I would return here and would recommend it to others - but would also warn that there may be some disappointments along with the pleasures.

Benoit in Midtown delivers an elevated dining experience that feels timeless and refined. The French bistro classics are prepared with exceptional care, from the tender duck confit to the perfectly seared steak frites and the smooth, delicate crème brûlée. Every dish reflects a level of precision that honors true French technique. The service is warm, polished, and consistent, with a team that anticipates needs and ensures each detail feels intentional. The setting is elegant and welcoming, with mirrored walls, rich textures, and a distinctly Parisian atmosphere that makes every visit feel special. Dining at Benoit is a reminder of how effortlessly New York can blend sophistication and comfort.

Benoit New York is a gem among the bougie dining spots near Times Square. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with an ambiance that’s sophisticated yet warm—perfect for a romantic date night. The service truly stands out; the servers are not only fantastic and good-looking but also genuinely pleasant and attentive. They offered great recommendations, and we thoroughly enjoyed every dish we tried. The food, while served in smaller portions typical of upscale restaurants, was absolutely delicious. If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience with top-notch service and a cozy yet chic atmosphere, Benoit New York is worth a visit. Highly recommended!

A very nice classic French bistro with approachable but elegant presentation. The food was great and they have quite an extensive wine list. The unexpected surprise of dinner has to go to the side of french fries, they were perfectly cooked and really complemented my steak and red wine.

While my charcuterie board was small, the copious amounts of bread and butter made up for it. My Mother's filet, on the other side, was unevenly cooked (half was medium well, and the other half was well done), something which could only have happened, I imagine (given that filets are even and have no bones attached), thanks to a careless technique or the use of a cheap pan. Both are equally unacceptable, given their price. The caramel in our tarte Tatin was slightly burnt as well. Overall, it was not a bad experience, but one would have expected more value for the money.

This was my first time dining here, and it was a lovely surprise from my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day. We were excited to spend a romantic evening together and enjoy a special night out. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected incident where food was accidentally spilled on both of us, including on my fur coat, which needed to be dry cleaned. It shifted the tone of the evening, as we had to focus on getting cleaned up rather than fully enjoying the experience. That said, the staff handled the situation with professionalism and kindness. We were promptly moved to a new table, checked on throughout the night, and management kindly offered to cover the cost of dry cleaning — a gesture we truly appreciated. While we were grateful to have our drinks removed from the bill, we were a bit surprised that no further accommodation was offered, considering the nature of the mishap and the impact it had on what was meant to be a special evening. In similar circumstances, a more generous resolution is often extended. Still, we genuinely appreciated the team’s attentiveness and care during a difficult moment. We hope this feedback is taken in the spirit of gratitude and as encouragement to continue offering thoughtful hospitality — even when things don’t go exactly as planned.

I had mixed feelings about this place. The fish and filet mignon were good, but the chicory salad deserves its own comedy show. . $22 for a few bitter chicory leaves with barely any goat cheese is hard to justify. There was so little cheese that it honestly felt like a joke. I laughed about it all night, but at that price point, it’s not funny.

We ordered oyster, as appetizer. and after we ate, we saw a warm on the oyster and complained to the manager. Do you know what the manager said :"it's normal to see a worm on a fresh oyster." But i continued " but my 18th year old may already accidentally ate the worm. He didnt apologize at all. And said again. " u know u should be happy the oyster is fresh. Thats why attracted worm" CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS??

Worst service ever! When we ordered, we had asked to switch something (from Skirt Steak to Filet Mignon, which was a more expensive item), at most 5 minutes after we ordered, and our server, Miguel, rudely said it was “too late”. We didn’t receive our food for another half hour at least. I am sure it was not too late to switch. I understand this can be annoying, but we were very nice about it and it was right after we had ordered. He could have at least been kinder or tried to accommodate. Regardless of this, our server hardly paid attention to us after we ordered / had gotten our food. Didn’t check on us ONCE. We had originally wanted to order some coffee and dessert, but our server didn’t come over to us for another 20 minutes, so we just decided to leave. This is ridiculous for such a well rated restaurant. It was not overly busy and did not seem understaffed whatsoever, so that can’t be the reason. Note: The bussers however were kind and working very efficiently. We told a manager about this on our way out and he sort of tried to console, but didn’t really seem to care. The food itself was good, and the interior of the restaurant was nice, but the service made us never want to come again. Service makes or breaks a customer experience. It ruined the atmosphere in the restaurant and at our table especially.

The food was unfortunately disappointing. I had high hopes since it was an Alain Ducasse restaurant. All of the proteins (escargot, halibut, and veal) needed some love; salt, acidity, or just something. Simply put the food was a bit lacking. Not only that, the service was a little bit questionable. I asked for extra baguette if possible to go with my escargot. It took more than 15min to get my bread and I'm already more than half way done with my escargot. The kicker at the end, we got our check. We were charged $8 for still water. We didn't get like a bottled water like a Saratoga water, we got what seemed like filtered water from a fountain. All I asked was why was I charged. I don't mind paying that extra couple dollars but it just didn't make sense to be charged for filtered water. Instead of informing me of the reasoning, they took back the check and got rid of the charge. The manager (I think) who was handling that situation didn't even say sorry or informed me of what was happening. To me, that quick action of getting rid of the extra charge seemed very sus to me like they have done this to other guests who don't properly look checks. But other than that, wine list is pretty good.
