Black Tap New York Reviews
There’s only one reason to come here … CAKE SHAKE !! The food is incredible ! Possibly the best cheeseburger I’ve ever had !, loved it !! We also had a chicken Ceaser salad that was excellent ! The cake shake is unique and well worth making a special trip to experience this restaurant and have one of their amazing milkshakes ! Be advised to call and reserve a table as wait times can be long Friendly and helpful service from waiting staff I’d very highly recommend you include this restaurant in your NYC visit
Oh, this is soooo good! The food is fun and the milkshakes are awesome! My kids loved it! It’s definitely family friendly and there is always beer for those of us who might need it, lol. I think everyone should try this restaurant at least once!
Bustling place try to book online to come. Without that walking in during off week hrs is great. Had a couple of beers anda burger. Will definitely come next timevto try their shakes and otherstuff. A vibey place overall
OMG! 😱 I’ve been to the Nashville location and had to try the one in NYC! Our server Vaugh was amazing and we got a birthday shake! Super cute. So welcoming. I tried the Mexico City Burger, and truffle cheese fries! Again ask for Vaugh, Matt the GM was so welcoming too!
I went with my mom and had such a great experience! They were super busy as they only had the downstairs open, when I went in the past upstairs was open. The staff was so friendly and really made sure everything was perfect. We got our food in a timely manner and everything was good. This is one place I will forever believe is not hyped up but definitely worth it!
Everything was delicious. Service was 10/10. The truffle fries had very good flavor, the cookies and crème milkshake was amazing, great size milkshake too. Not like other places where the cookies in the Oreo don’t taste great, these were definitely OREO lol definitely coming back!
Had a wonderful experience at Black Tap tonight. Huge thanks to Matthew for his thoughtfulness and care — it truly made the night. The staff was welcoming, the food was great, and the shakes were absolutely incredible. Over-the-top in the best way. Looking forward to coming back.
Black Tap has a real nice vibe. I can tell they really try to create an experience and the reviews are evidence of that as well. I have met some of the most hospitable staff and the food is amazing. If you go on the weekend then you should probably try to make a reservation because they do fill up fast! Definitely need to try their shakes if you go!
Vaughn at Black Tap was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we were seated, his service was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. He checked in at all the right times without ever being overbearing, made great recommendations, and clearly knew the menu inside and out. You can tell he really cares about the guest experience and takes pride in what he does. Our food and drinks came out exactly as ordered, everything was timed perfectly, and Vaughn made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His positive attitude and professionalism truly elevated the entire experience and made our visit memorable. It’s rare to come across service that feels both polished and personal, but Vaughn nailed it. Because of him, Black Tap stood out as more than just great food—it was great hospitality. If you’re dining here, you’re in excellent hands with Vaughn. We’ll definitely be back and hope to be seated in his section again. Highly recommend!
Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer was an absolute hit from start to finish. The food was amazing—we ordered the fries, mozzarella sticks, Korean BBQ wings, and the Wagyu burger with fries, and every single bite delivered. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The drinks were just as impressive. The strawberry lemonade was rich, refreshing, and delicious, and the Casamigos passion fruit margarita was smooth and perfectly balanced. What really elevated the experience, though, was our server Vaughn. He was just as amazing as the food—knowledgeable, hospitable, and gave us great advice on what to order. His recommendations were spot-on, and his energy made the whole experience even better.
Randomly walked into black TAPP looking for a good burger and got just that .. not only was my host Vaungh entertaining respectful & professional. He was working promptly.. highly recommended a reservation so that you can sit downstairs but other than that Make sure to visit ! Next time I’m going to try one of there delicious milkshakes 🫶🏽
I’ve visited Black Tap SoHo many times, but tonight felt different—in the best way. Despite how busy the restaurant was, Matt (the GM), Noel, our server, and the girl behind the milkshake counter brought an energy that made the night unforgettable. We knew exactly what we wanted to order, but their warmth, humor, and genuine people skills elevated the entire experience. They managed to connect with us even in the middle of the chaos, which says everything about the team here. Food is always great—but tonight, the service stood out the most! Plus they charged my phone and they have gluten free options!!! Thank you guys!!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had an amazing experience at this place! The beer selection on tap is outstanding—fresh, perfectly poured, and with great variety for every taste. But the real star of the show is the wagyu burger. Hands down the best in town—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. You can tell they use top-quality ingredients and really care about what they serve. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to hang out with friends, grab a great meal, and enjoy a few excellent beers. If you’re a fan of craft beer and incredible burgers, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back! 🍔🍺
If you’re in the mood for burgers black tap is the way to go! Service was excellent our server Vaughn was great with my daughter’s birthday and the food was delicious. Loved how the place looked it was definitely a blast from the past and don’t sleep on there drinks my server and who I assume was also the host Serena made some of the best martinis for my family would definitely come here again and recommend!!
Delicious food, delicious shake, amazing service, amazing vibe. The staff was so kind and welcoming, we came for my birthday and they made sure to make it special! Vaughn, was so great, so nice! Food came quick and was amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
We enjoyed lunch today. Reserved a table for 4 around 14:00. Once we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. Mr. Vaughn, our waiter, was awesome. He provided timely service, an accurate food order, and enjoyable conversation to the entire family. The food and shakes were superb! We definitely recommend Black Tap for their burgers, shakes, and professional service.
I was recently here to celebrate my nephew’s birthday and we had a great time! The food was delicious. Vaughn and whole staff were funny, courteous and friendly! We had the crispy chicken, pesto chicken sandwich and all American burgers & sweet potato fries, all were delicious! He also loved the Cookies & Cream supreme shake! We look forward to coming back!
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had in NYC. Everyone needs to try this place. Our server Vaughn was great and friendly. Atmosphere was awesome. The burger I got was “The Old Fashioned”. The patty was well seasoned, the bun could’ve been a little bit more roasted, the horseradish sauce was not too much and the carmelized onions goes so well with the mushrooms. The fries were also just crispy and well seasoned I didn’t have to touch the salt. Overall would go back again!
The staff was incredibly friendly and awesome. The lady that made us shakes had the most adorable son hanging out with her. Such a sweet kid. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the wagyu burger and sweet potato fries. Cooked perfectly burger, nice char crisp on the outside and perfectly medium pink in the middle. The sweet potato fries were perfectly fried and had a nice crisp to them and salted to perfection. Dipped in their house ranch was astronomical.
The milkshake was the best part of the experience. My wings was not cooked and I couldn't eat them. I didn't want to upset my child it was her bday so I didn't complain. The burger fries and chicken tenders was great. It was cold and the atmosphere got loud at times. The staff was wonderful friendly and made it a great experience.
The shakes are really the star of the show here the chocolate chip brownie flavor doesn’t disappoint. The Mexico City burger was tasty too with a juicy patty and pickled jalapeños that make anything better. The Cesar salad was okay. The restaurant’s atmosphere is fun and our servers were nice, although aloof and some cleaning was definitely needed as both our table and condiments on them, were a mix of greasy and sticky. However, this could be specific to the SOHO location and not the chain as a whole. Overall, it’s worth it if you want a trendy burgers and milkshakes experience though.
I stopped here on Sunday with my son. We ordered an American hamburger and one of the wagyu beef hamburgers. They came out relatively quickly and we were pleased with how they tasted as well as how they were presented... the staff was very friendly and was trying to do their best... . I will tell you that the sweet potatoes came out soggy and I saw another patron there also ordered the sweet potatoes and they also look soggy... so that is definitely a negative. My son had the french fries and they were significantly more crunchy and more tasty than the sweet potato fries which I paid extra for... Unfortunately they were having trouble with their shake machine so it did have to wait quite a while for that... when it did come out it was quite delicious nice and thick and very very tasty...
Very tasty food, but overpriced. They didn't appear to have a kids menu so my son ordered the chicken fingers appetizer. The waiter asked him if he'd like fries with that, so I assumed there was a seperate kids meal of chicken fingers and fries. Nope. Full side of fries ($9) in addition to the $14.50 chicken fingers. A bit pricey for a 10 year old. They also charged for water.
Now I understand why this place was struggling for a 4.4 star review. Burgers were okay. Whether you had a regular or wagyu patty...they taste the same. The service was horrible. Waiter told me the Lucy Juicy has pork and therefore needed to be cooked well done. We had to wave him down multiple times for forks and service. The milkshake was the highlight, but tell me how they don't offer or ask if spoons are needed? By the time it came to the table, within seconds it already started melting. The venue was a huge disappointment. There were cushions for bench seats, but they kept sliding off, as if they were bought from the 99cents store and plopped on. Tried Black Tap once and sadly would not come back or recommend to others.
Horrible and SO disappointing! I have never left a food review but this was so bad I couldn’t help myself. I ordered a hamburger to be cooked “medium”. I took one bite, then took apart the meat (as shown in the photo) to show the waiter. I very very kindly asked the waiter for it to be more cooked or replaced. He responded “well you did get it cooked medium”…clearly it was not medium and I had to explain that to him. After about 15 minutes of him speaking to the chef/manager, the waiter came back to tell me “the only thing I can do for you is to either order another burger, which you have to pay for, or I can give 50% off this burger.” Appalling.. hilarious how embarrassing for this place. They refused to cook my burger more, replace it, or even simply take it off the bill. HORRENDOUS and I will absolutely never go back and will never tell anyone to go here. Rude and disgusting management.
