Cafe 53 New York Reviews
super quick and excellent service. get the turkey club sandwich! i’m gonna be thinking about that sandwich for years to come, it just hit the spot so perfectly. store is well stocked with just about every craving you could have.
This cafe, just a block from the Hilton where I stayed, was a lifesaver. The selection is amazing, like a Costco! From wine and coffee to toiletries and dinner, I found everything I needed. I even had a great dinner here when I didn't want to go too far.
I had a great experience here! I was just looking for a quick snap before a work event and popped in around 6 on a Thursday night. It was not crowded at all. The fruit in the buffet was some of the best I’ve ever seen. All the workers were nice and helpful. The coffee drinks they make for you (lattes and such) are reasonably priced. The buffet prices are similar to other places like this in the area. Overall a great place for a quick bite!
I have to echo another reviewer’s sentiment: hidden gem. This place is pretty big with so many options. We were really looking for fresh grab and go eats and Cafe 53 hit the spot. We actually came here a couple of times we liked it so much. I really enjoyed the made to order breakfast sandwiches. There is something for everyone here for sure. When you want something fast and you don’t want to pay a fortune you really can’t beat this place.
I was surprised to see Google Maps prompting me to submit another review, but I AM more than happy to do so. From Saturday, August 20, until Sunday, August 21, 2022, my life partner, another Gay male couple and I attended Flame Con 2022. Flame Con is the premier LGBTQ comic con. It was held at the Sheraton Times Square hotel. Cafe 53 is very conveniently located on the same block as the main hotel entrance. The coffee is wonderful, the staff is very professional and polite, there are indoor and outdoor tables, hot fold, cold food, hot beverages, cold beverages and lots of snacks, treats and a wide variety of options to satisfy virtually every palate and dietary requirement. They even sell wine! There is a key to the bathroom behind the counter and it was refreshing to see staff wearing face masks. I was well taken care of, and look forward to returning the next time I AM in that area.
Very clean and comfortable to sit and get a bite to eat. They have a rang of food, snacks and beverages. There's a buffet. Prices for this area of Manhattan are normal. This is not a bodega so note not cheapest meal you can get for a poor man special. I got a burger and fries which cost around $18. Big portions. Taste great. They do have a buffet that goes by weight. Coffee fresh and good. Small inside and outside sitting areas. They have continuous cleaning service so these areas are monitored. I found it to be pleasant to sit eat and chat.
Cafe opened 24 hours... everyone that works has a real issue with their life and may try to mess up yours. Please beware, But if you have no where to eat with a bunch of people that want to pay separate and buy something quick, then maybe go here. I always go here is my last option in the middle of the night when I get hungry at an overnight.
I normally don’t write reviews, but this needs to be said. I was charged $19 for a small container of fruit and that was it. No extras, nothing premium, just basic fruit in a small cup. That price is completely unreasonable. This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed inflated pricing here either. Every time I go in, the total somehow feels excessive for what you actually receive. It honestly feels like they take advantage, assuming customers won’t question it. I fully support businesses charging fair prices, especially with today’s economy, but there’s a difference between fair and overcharging. Transparency and value matter. Unfortunately, this place missed the mark. I hope they reconsider their pricing because at this rate, it’s hard to justify coming back.
Very overpriced, I paid $30 USD for fruits & $49 USD for food box & 2 canned drinks. Such a waste of money!! It doesn’t justify doing by weight, as Panda Express charges you less than $20 USD for either rice or noodles combo with 2 meats😂😂😂
100% overpriced. There are so many options around with reasonable prices. I don’t know why to go to that place
This place is the worst. We came here to get some coffee and use the restrooms. The lady at the counter was super nasty and charging people by the person to use the restroom which is ridiculous. She was guarding the restroom door - and started yelling at us. I would not recommend this place and intend to report them as well.
Sat outside to eat dinner at 6:15. Within a few minutes they came and stacked all the chairs and told me to move inside. I asked for 5 minutes..they kept insisting I go inside. Once you pay they couldn't care less about their customers. The food is way overpriced and customer service is sub poor. There are 1000's of better places to go...give this one a pass. After 10 year's of coming here, I won't be back .
I wanted a Bacon Egg and Cheese. And was told it’s after 11am and against the rules breakfast is over. So I ordered a burger with extra bacon egg and cheese with the burger on the side. For $21.14 cash price 😮
I had an extremely disappointing experience here. I purchased a panini and sat down to eat with my friends, who had food from another place. Despite the fact that I was a paying customer, we were told we couldn't eat there simply because my friends had food from elsewhere. That alone felt unreasonable. What made it worse was how the staff handled it. One of the employees raised her voice at us in a completely unprofessional and unnecessary way. We were not being disruptive—we understood the request and were already getting up to leave when she continued to speak to us in a rude, aggressive tone. This kind of behavior is unacceptable anywhere, but especially in a business located near Times Square, where you'd expect a basic level of courtesy and professionalism.
TOURIST TRAP- AVOID AT ALL COST I have been staying in Hilton for buisness trips for last 20 years . This cafe has been around for a while . It’s always been overpriced. The service has always been below average but it’s New York so you never expect them to be great at hospitality. But with the inflation it’s just not worth it anymore . I think today was my last time visiting them . The guys frying eggs were just so grumpy. I will never understand the whole gangster vibe which is really not required while you taking breakfast order . I asked one question and they just got so upset . Totally messed up my order . They speak in a different language so you have no clue what one is telling the other about your order . Different price for exact two bagels , I informed the lady at counters and she just stared at me . I just paid cause I was in a rush . I understand nothing will happen but I like to inform people visiting in future . There are way too many options around the area . And you don’t deserve to pay 24 dollars for two bagels prepared wrong with a shitty service .
