Such a nice addition to the neighborhood! The owners are so nice and they worked really hard to open this spot. Love the cozy environment. HIGHLY recommend the Croquettes de Crevettes, it's delicious! We were familiar with their mousse, so we ordered the Belgian Waffles as dessert - but please have the mousse if you have never tried, it's the best mousse ever!

Such a lovely addition to the neighborhood! A cozy space where we had a very tasty meal with great wines, service was warm and attentive. The fries and beef stew were particularly delicious. Will definitely be back!

Warm, indulgent, and quietly elegant—tucked in the heart of East Harlem. Service was attentive yet relaxed. Wine pairings: spot on. The food is so flavorful it speaks for itself—plated for pleasure and memory. Such an intentionally crafted space, it makes you feel like you’re a part of its dream. This jewel is the sweet spot between refinement and comfort. I left glowing and look forward to basking in its ambiance again.

Visiting Cafe d’Anvers was such a magical experience! The owner and hostess were very inviting and the food was out of this world good. It felt just like being back in Belgium! I highly recommend this jewel of a cafe/ frietkot!

Came during the soft opening. Intimate neighborhood restaurant serving up hearty dishes from the owners’ native Belgium. Food was fresh and tender; wines on the list selected thoughtfully and with skill. Service was cheerful and attentive. Interior design needs attention but otherwise am very happy to frequent this little gem in East Harlem.

My husband and I have been here twice, and it’s now my #1 favorite spot for date night!! The ambience is super cozy - they’ve done a really nice job with the layout, colors, and decor. The service is very friendly and personal - feels like I’m visiting a relative’s house! The food is AMAZING. They do a really good job with everything, but I especially recommend the carbonnade flamande and the chicken puff pastry dish. I wish I had taken pictures so I could post them. These dishes are cozy, hearty, and delicious. The flavors are very simple and well executed. The mousse is also very creamy and light (dark chocolate and passion fruit are the best!) and the beer selection is great. Honestly cannot say enough good things about this place - very grateful to have found such a cozy date night spot. We will be coming back often!!!!

Amazing meal. We had the croquettes, steak frites and the mousse. Each dish was better than the last. The owner and our server were lovely people — both were effortlessly hospitable. We visited for our anniversary and they made sure to make it feel special. Don’t forget to check out the bathroom and grab some mousse to take home.

I read an article featuring Café d’Anvers and decided to make a reservation. The kitchen excels at presentation and taste. Restaurant workers maintain absolutely flawless service. The kitchen succeeds with food quality, portion sizes, and reasonable pricing. You should taste what this spot offers.

NEVER AGAIN. I’ve been wanting to try the restaurant for several years. I was seated (without a reservation) and offered tap water. I ordered a medium no blood steak and asked for feedback of the food. I called the waiter back to inform him the steak was very well done. He looked and agreed and took my opinion back to the chef. He returned advising the chef thought as I wanted it no blood he’d cook it more than usual. No suggestion of remaking it or a sharper steak knife. I tried to finish but it was dry and unsalvageable. I was offered an alcoholic beverage however I’d already ordered a sparking water and then a coke to attempt to wash it down with. So that was a little too late. I also don’t drink alcohol. I paid the $60 bill and left. The waiter also attempted to give me a passion fruit dessert - possibly by way of apology (may have been included). They fries were a 6/10 as there were too many crunchy ends that accounted for over half of the portion. Service was good, it began to fill up after I arrived but with the food situation, made for uncomfortable interaction.

I live in the neighbourhood and have been to this place twice. I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Firstly, construction of Christmas tree on the public sidewalk in front of the establishment makes it very difficult for pedestrians, especially people walking dogs, to pass safely or comfortably. There doesn’t seem to be any effort to accommodate the public despite the sidewalk being a shared space. The food was another letdown. The food has potential but Dishes lacked flavour, were served cold, and arrived without sauce (the croquettes which on menu mentions sauce), which made the meal feel incomplete. Overall quality did not match expectations. Additionally, the owner appeared inattentive toward certain demographics . This may not be intentional, but the lack of acknowledgment and engagement was noticeable and uncomfortable. Overall, this is not a place I would recommend unless they make certain changes.
