Dolly Varden New York Reviews
My sister took me out for my birthday to see Wicked on Broadway. After the show we were hungry we found this place since it was open later. The food and wait staff were good. Now this was a Tuesday evening the chairs were uncomfortable we asked the host if we could sit at the bigger table since the high chairs can be a bit uncomfortable if you are on the heavier side and the tables are pretty much close together. The host stated he couldn’t give us the bigger table due to them getting a large group no one showed up. The food was great and mocktail as well but I wouldn’t go back due to my back feels sore from the high chair.
Cute tiny place. We went early at 5pm on a weekday, but I imagine you'd want a reservation later or on a weekend. Staff were very friendly and food was yummy. Flatbread was big enough we split it.
Went to Dollys's after our matinee at the Neal Simon Theater.. the restaurant was only three minutes walking distance.. We arrived in time for the brunch.. Restaurant was very relaxing and cozy.. Food and drinks were delicious.. I am the price was very reasonable.Especially for New York City.. would highly recommend this place👍
First of all, their smash burger is the best I’ve had. Seriously so good. But also, my favorite part… Aaliyah was amazing! I’ve gone twice and both experiences were incredible. She provides wonderful service, is super professional, and makes you feel completely comfortable the entire time. She truly made the experience special for me both times. Highly recommend coming, and if you have the chance, to meet her! I’ll definitely be back!
Shoutout toMike the bartender friendly, attentive, and clearly knows their craft. Drinks were perfectly balanced, service was fast without feeling rushed, and the vibe at the bar made the whole experience better. You can tell they genuinely care about customers. Would absolutely come back and sit at the bar again.
Dolly’s has the bones of a great neighborhood spot, and my most recent visit really showed what this place can be when it’s run with intention and care. While my first experience here didn’t quite hit the mark, I decided to give it another shot — and I’m genuinely glad I did. Gray and Nicole behind the bar completely shifted the energy of the room, delivering warm, attentive service and creating the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Add Alea at the host stand, who set the tone immediately with professionalism and genuine hospitality, and the night turned around fast. Hospitality is all about who’s leading the room in the moment, and when the right people are on, Dolly’s absolutely shines. Huge shoutout to Gray, Nicole, and Alea for reminding me what great service actually feels like. I’ll be back and hopefully catching the place at its best again.
stopped by on a late Sunday evening with my boyfriend & sat at the bar. we were served by JC. he recommended us a signature cocktail ‘apple of my eye’ which was amazinggggg! he also had time to chit chat with us a bit with a fairly busy bar which was nice! his service was warm & friendly. definitely would come back for him!
My bestie and I wandered in, late one evening after seeing Broadway shows and other touristy items. We were STARVING, and nothing was open on a Saturday night but we found Dolly's in Hell's Kitchen and she did not disappoint. We met a lovely DJ and had the best service from a cute bartender. I still randomly think about how good the flatbread was. It was simple and cooked to perfection. I know I was hungry after walking 10,000 steps but it was so freaking good!
This establishment has a great yappy hour. I got the cosmo city girl along with the pesto chicken melt. Both my cocktail and sandwich was amazing. Nicole our server was super friendly and attentive, appreciated her recommendations. I will definitely return.
Best kept secret in NYC! A Thanksgiving meal for a family of 6 with our own private dining area with music! Fabulous squash soup followed by turkey and dressing and Brussels sprouts… complete with pumpkin pie! Jessie took such great strides to see that we were treated with superb care! Excellent efficient service! Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Don’t miss this place!
Hidden gem just west of the Neil Simon theater. Got a same day reservation after a Sunday afternoon show. Christmas atmosphere was good but not over the top, food was great. Cornbread with strawberry butter was excellent. Wife's chicken pesto was good and my smashburger was excellent. Drinks are good as well with decent non alcoholic options.
Went here for brunch with 5 friends and it was everything. The bottomless mimosas were flowing nonstop (thank you Jorgo for keeping the drinks iconic — honestly some of the best I’ve had). I had the chicken and waffles and, girl… they were perfection. Crispy, golden chicken on top of fluffy waffles that made me want to break into a full-on Broadway number. Truly some of the best I’ve ever had. Shoutout to Mixi and Hanna, our fabulous servers, who kept the energy high and made sure our table was living its best brunch fantasy. Friendly, fun, and quick — exactly what you need when the bubbles keep coming. The vibe? Loud, fun, unapologetically fabulous. Perfect for a gay Sunday Funday with friends. Dolly Varden, consider me obsessed. 🌈 10/10, would sashay back in a heartbeat. 🌈
Every bit of the meal was delicious, but what really made the visit special was the service. Erica & Ash were so welcoming and informative. They made great suggestions about lesser known nyc activities, in addition to their knowledge of the menu. Brunch was amazing all around and I will absolutely be back! Lemon pancakes and maple sausage were SO good.
This is an amazing little getaway in the middle of the city the outdoor seating has a garden wall with sunflowers that makes you forget where you are. Our waitress Erica, was absolutely perfect. She was helpful, friendly and very welcoming. I went with the 60 minute bottomless drinks for brunch, definitely a great deal. I tried all of the options as they let you switch becerages as you go. None disapointed. We chose the French omelet and the Dolly French toast. It felt like a crime to call it French toast, it was more like heaven on a plate. This will now be our go to breakfast spot when we are in the area. If you feel like treating yourself to an amazing brunch, I suggest you stop here and give it a try for yourself.
A very cozy and tastefully designed restaurant with a bar. We had a steak with fries for $36 and the salmon fillet with potatoes and vegetables for $30. The quality was excellent! The vegetables served with the salmon were glazed and an absolute treat for the taste buds. We were there on a Friday evening with a small child, and it wasn’t very busy. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive.
Wonderful time at Dolly’s for brunch! The cornbread was so warm and scrumptious. I had the chicken and waffles and boy was it filling! Great portions a great service. Natalie was super kind and attentive and made sure we were happy. Definitely not the first time here and not the last as well!!
Visited on a December Saturday night before a radio city music hall show and was surprised at how empty it was. The space is well decorated and provides a cozy atmosphere. There’s a decent menu with a variety of options, we chose the strawberry cornbread, wings, burger, shrimp&grits and friend chicken along with espresso martinis. Everything from the drinks to the food was flavorful and delicious with decent portions. Service was a little slow and inattentive with everyone from the bartender to seemingly the host taking care of us and 1 other patron during our time. In the end we had to flag someone down to get us our check since we hadn’t been checked on even after having our plates cleared and one item wrapped up. Besides that which I assume was a slightly off night, this was a win in my book and I’d definitely recommend/come back.
When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and saw Dolly's Hideaway downstairs, and it was super cute. I was served by a few servers, and honestly, they were all great! I started with the espresso martini and vesper martini, and they were delicious! For my meal, I had the deviled eggs, which weren't my favorite. I then had the salmon crispy rice, which wasn't too bad. For my meal I had the seafood pasta which I loved! And dessert I had the keylime pie which was delicious! All in all I had a good experience.
Loved the vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. The cocktail tree was gorgeous. 10/10 presentation but maybe a 5/10 on taste. I really enjoyed the food here. The lamb shank was extremely tender and cut through like butter. It laid over a creamy bed of mash. My friends raved about the grilled cheese and definitely get the truffle fries over regular fries. The chocolate mouse cake was decadent and a great way to end the meal. The servers were extremely attentive and gave us a wonderful experience!
Dolly Varden is a cozy spot with a lot going for it. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive—and the portion sizes were very generous, which is always a plus. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. I tried the deviled eggs, breakfast flatbread, egg white omelet, and steak and eggs. While everything was tasty and well-prepared, the flavors felt a bit understated—I found myself wishing for just a bit more boldness or creativity to make the dishes truly memorable. Overall, it’s a great choice for the cozy vibe, generous portions, and fantastic service, with some room to grow in terms of flavor.
