VERS New York Reviews
If you’re anywhere near NYC and craving a queer space that feels intentional, welcoming, and actually fun, VERS is a standout. It manages to hit that sweet spot between a cozy neighborhood bar and a destination queer venue. The cocktails are thoughtfully built (not just vodka + vibes), the snack menu is perfect for sharing, and the event lineup keeps things dynamic—drag nights, themed parties, and community-focused gatherings that don’t feel forced. The atmosphere leans modern and inclusive rather than divey, which is refreshing for a smaller city. You’ll see a mix of locals, visitors, longtime LGBTQ+ folks, and curious allies, and the energy stays warm instead of cliquey. Staff are engaged, quick, and genuinely friendly, which sets the tone the moment you walk in. What makes VERS work is its sense of purpose: it’s not just a bar that happens to be queer—it’s a queer space first, built around connection, expression, and a good time. Whether you’re going for cocktails with friends or showing up solo to meet people, it feels like a place where you can exhale and just exist openly.
Super fun gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen only made better by the amazing Kanga. Warm and friendly and super engaging, great spot to grab a drink and ham out.
If you're in Manhattan you have to stop by Vers... cozy and inviting atmosphere, great drinks and music. Kanga is an absolute treasure... attentive and so sweet.
Best bar in Hell’s Kitchen. Solid happy hour. Good vibes. Great staff.
Fun. Friendly. This would be my neighborhood bar if it was in Palm Springs. Came in for a quick drink before a show. Ended up back after the show because I wanted to make sure the dirty martini was as good non happy hour as it was during...yes! The piano player has a QR code for song requests. Local singers from Broadway shows pop in to sing. Amazing singing to live music and the DJ actually knows the vibe and audience.
Immaculate vibes, great happy hour, diverse events/shows, and fantastic service (looking at you, Billy)! What else could you want from a queer cocktail bar? Whether you’re in the mood for a pre/post show cocktail, birthday pregame, or a dancy night out, VERS lives up to its name and comes through for it all!
We visit VERS everytime we go to NYC. It has become our favorite place to grab a drink. I credit the incredible bartender Billy Luce-Murray. He's the BEST!
Visited NY for a short trip and wanted to check out VERS. Sam was amazing and made the best drinks. Very nice and welcoming. Would definitely come back when visiting again.
Vers was super cute, honestly Sam made the night. She was super sweet, on point with the drinks, and just had really good vibes. We’ll definitely be back—my boyfriend Chris and I enjoyed it. Hope to be back in New York. 🍸✨
Kanga Roo and Nate make me feel like home in my Hell's Kitchen sanctuary. Always fantastic vibes, great drinks and small bites, and the best programming. Where were we without Vers!
Vers is always an amazing vibe ✨ .The music drinks are always a great time. I always enjoy seeing Kanga Roo very friendly and always fun to dance and catch up with!
Jared went above and beyond to make sure our pop-in experience was EXCEPTIONAL. Not only did they write a note of places to hit up while we were headed up the strip, but they also made arrangements to make sure my friend (who’s birthday weekend we were celebrating..) (Britney spears…) played throughout the bar. Cannot speak highly enough. Loves it. Vibes fer sure!
Vers is an incredibly chill and relaxed vibe with some of the best drinks in midtown. On top of that, the staff (and Kanga specifically) are beyond friendly and very social, which makes the entire experience that much better. Love them 🤍
Some friends and I decided to check out this spot spontaneously and it did not disappoint! The drinks and food were all great and reasonably priced during happy hour, service was awesome, and we were happily surprised to find out that it was Broadway trivia night, which was a lot of fun. We'll likely be back next time we're in the area!
Service was great, drinks were good. Food was honestly sad. Got pimento cheese dip that was so good and delicious but unfortunately it was served with like 7 Ritz crackers which… honestly embarrassing, that dip deserved better. Date and I also got sliders that were tasty but tiny and “fancy tots” that were lol too fancy and there were 5 of them. Happy hour is great and the vibe is stellar, but I don’t recommend coming here hungry, you’ll be disappointed & spend a lot more money than if you got a full meal somewhere else.
Atmosphere is good and I really wanted to like this place. Just a word to the wise *and this sadly typical in nyc post covid. But they charge you a 20% tip automatically and then hand you the payment screen with tips ranging from 20-30-% with no indication that you’ve already been charged 20%. And no itemized receipt. Disgusting money grab for 40-50% gratuity. Welcome to New York. 🤸
The bar is not what it seems. Been there a few times and the vibe just feels unwelcoming. The staff does not come off as friendly and they darn rude. It feels like there underlying discrimination. Mind you this is a gay bar so you would think they’ll be welcoming. Also, the tap water is warm and the bathroom smells pretty bad (like poo) . The mozzarella sticks is TERRIBLE. There’s better gay bars in Hell Kitchen . The owner also is very pro-ICE.
Never again, the staff is unwelcoming and rude! The manager had kicked me out after i reported that there were a group of people in a bathroom stall doing adulterated things when i needed to use the bathroom. He basically said that that’s the culture there and me being cis gendered was pretty much not welcomed there. I’ve been there a few times before and each time I go there’s an issue. Last month i ordered a large cheese board and requested no nuts due to my allergy. They still brought over the cheese board nuts and all. I requested a new board and they refused and didn’t even want to give me a refund! I should’ve known then to let this place GO. THIS IS MY WARNING TO YOU GUYS!! STAY AWAY!!!! I ended going next door to Mickeys and had a way better time.
Yesterday i have a big problem with my card in this bar. The waitress scammed me. He told me don’t need to give my receipt. Because he charged me $50 dollars instead $11. The blonde guy. Pay attention guys in your charge
