This place has earned my repeated business. The kitchen delivered more than I imagined. The look of this place is incredible. The employees displayed friendliness and menu expertise. After my recent relocation, finding this place was a pleasant surprise.
This was beyond an incredible experience. The stew chicken was so good. Thank you so much! Happy Mother’s Day!
Not sure the name of what we ate but it was SOOO goooood! We will definitely be back. Saved to my favs list for breakfast. Gonna be back soon to check out their lunch menu!
One of my overall favorite places to go to. I have been coming here for quite some time and the food is always been excellent the service outstanding bathrooms nice and clean. There is usually no wait I recommend trying just a little bit of everything at different times breakfast lunch and dinner they also deliver and are great people over. Please let them know Chef Eddie Stop Vine and please don't forget the tip.
I’m reviewing the bakery shop next door to the restaurant. I walk by all the time and it’s always busy, often with police officers congregating (in a good way, eating and chatting, feels like a nice presence!). Thursday night we went in to pick up a cake to bring to work in celebration of the upcoming Easter holiday. The choices were vast. We ended up with two big Tres Leches cakes, thanks to the help of the sweet women who worked there and two cops who weighed in on our choices while assuring us we couldn’t go wrong. The cakes did not disappoint, nor did the single serving of the pineapple cake we took home for personal consumption! Friendly staff, lots of selection, reasonable prices, delicious cakes = great bakery.
Roast pork is heavenly! This definitely brought PR memories back to me! The only thing is the restaurant was too hot which potentially made the cod fritter gone bad.
I was looking for cuchifritos, Puerto Rican fritters because I wanted greasy food, went to a place called El Chevere in Harlem 2000 3rd Ave and found Hay Bendito! Instead not sure if they changed the name but it didn’t look as clean as the pictures I saw for El Chevere. Anyway I ordered food and must say the pastelillos were good. The Bacalaito was way too oily, alcapuria was okay but they don’t make alcapurias de guineo. The pionono was okay. Not sure if I would come back. I felt bamboozled by the name.
Ordered a gold-covered pan cake for a birthday and it was beautiful and tasty, with 3 layers! Wasn’t expecting that. And they were very kind and accommodating. Their 3 leches cake is great. Prices are reasonable and there’s a loyal clientele.
El Chevere Cuchifrito is a small Spanish eatery in East Harlem, serving up meat over rice platters and a variety of fried foods. it’s a small space with stools at a counter—no tables inside but they do have tables outside rn. the space is pretty clean. the hot prepared foods are on display through a glass display. didn’t see any menus so basically you need to ask how much everything is. there’s a $5 minimum on debit/credit. stopped here and wanted some quick bites to go. got some bacalitos and papas rellenas. was totally satisfied as those fried eats hit the spot. the fried codfish was season well and the batter was crispy and yet soft on the inside. the papas rellenas was really good—fried potato ball stuffed with tasty season ground beef. perfect amount of food when you get those afternoon hunger pangs. the papas rellenas and bacalitos were ~ $2 each + tip. service is fine
They could do better, if you are starving for x reason, want something fast this is the place, the food is average
My experience at El Chevere was average. I was in Spanish Harlem and heard of this place thru a YouTube video. The food was good the empanadas and stuffed plantains were good the tamarindo juice was excellent. The prices are some of the best in the area. However the restaurant has no A/C and it is extremely hot. The lady working there was polite enough. The restaurant also didn’t look very clean.
The place looks dirty and unpleasant. Charging $17 USD for a regular meal without a drink is expensive for the area and the quality. I don't recommend it; there are better places nearby.
Horrible service the beef stew was hard. The rice was hard The blood sausage was spicy and dry, gentleman that attended to us gave us horrible service with a nasty attitude. I definitely will not be returning and I definitely do not recommend.
This is not Puerto Rican establishment anymore since back in the day! Not authentic Puerto Rican food they just use the name, this is a Dominican Mexican establishment,
Everyone giving this place a 5 star is weird. This place has the most horrible food in east harlem!! The soup is full of grease & has no flavor, the rice is harddd & when u explain this to the workers they just shrug they shoulders & do nothin about!!! I just bought some soup from here the soup has no flavor & is full of grease also the rice I got to go with it is hard. I don't recommend anyone to eat here!!! I also recommend that this place either gets new chefs or send them back to cookin school this is ridiculous. Then they are a lil expensive on they prices & the food is HORRIBLEEEEE!!!! Disgusting!!!
