This is the flagship restaurant of the Fumo Restaurants and as one might expect it is fabulous. The food is delicious, the service is both friendly and professional, and the atmosphere is perfect. All of their pastas are plentiful and tasty. If you haven’t already eaten at Fumo Harlem or any of the other Fumo restaurants definitely make your way there for wonderful Italian cuisine.
We've been going here forever and I've just never written a review so it's about time. In short we live at 140th and Amsterdam and Fumo is our go-to restaurant! We really just love everything about it from the staff to the food to the decor. We've had everything on the menu and it's all great. You really can't go wrong going to Fumo for any occasion!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ Friends and coworkers are fans of Fumo Harlem, foods and drinks. I decided I would give them a try, I was in the mood for baked ziti. Walked in and I was digging the vibe of the restaurant. I said to myself, you definitely have to come back and have a meal. I ordered and waited about 15-20 minutes for my order. Once I received my bag, I headed home. After getting home I saw a message saying, I was given the wrong order and I can back to the restaurant and they will make me a fresh order. Checked my food and I was given the wrong order. I called they apologized and said I can come back or they will credit me back my money. I asked if they would deliver the correct order to my house. The manager (ROB) was absolutely great he apologized and sent my ziti pipping hot to my house. Customer service 💯 and the was 🤤 !
Fumo: A Must-Visit Italian Gem in Harlem Fumo on Amsterdam Ave and 137th Street is, without a doubt, a must-visit culinary destination in Harlem. My recent dinner here with my wife was nothing short of exceptional, offering a perfect blend of great atmosphere, attentive service, and truly amazing food. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy, setting the ideal stage for a memorable night out. The energy is fantastic without being overwhelming, making it a perfect spot for either a special occasion or a casual weeknight treat. The service was equally good—our server was helpful, prompt, and genuinely friendly, ensuring we felt welcomed and well-cared for throughout the meal. The true highlight, however, was the food. I ordered the classic Spaghetti Carbonara and it was sublime. The sauce was rich and creamy, coated the perfectly al dente pasta, and was exactly the comforting, authentic dish I was craving. The Garlic Bread served alongside was crisp, buttery, and the ideal accompaniment. My wife opted for the Penne alla Vodka and was equally impressed. The sauce achieved that perfect balance—tangy from the tomato and decadent from the cream—a clear testament to high-quality ingredients and skillful preparation. Fumo offers a complete and unforgettable dining package. If you’re in the area and looking for high-quality Italian cuisine that backs up its reputation, stop searching. This place is an absolute gem. Highly, highly recommended!
I enjoy Fumo each & every time I dine there!!! It’s like the gift that keeps on giving. It’s one of our favorite go to spots for fantastic food & sexy vibes. Their wine bar down the street is also cool. My favs are the spicy calamari, kale salad & penne pasta. I must try the burrata next time I have heard wonderful delish things about it. Yum. 😋
We drive all the way from Brooklyn just to come here. I’ve been to the Kips Bay location and that one is nowhere near as a good as Harlem’s. The food is phenomenal. There’s not one dish I don’t like. But Especially the baked clams and the Gamberi Pasta (PRO TIP: Dip the bread they give you in the clam sauce, you won’t regret it!)The food comes out fast and hot. The cocktails are also really good! I recommend Amelia & Gladys. It can be hard to get a reservation and you might just have to put your name on a waitlist when you get there..it’s worth the wait:)
I know it sounds unusual to rave about a salad, but the Kale Caesar here is truly exceptional. The flavour is so well-balanced, and it's incredibly satisfying. The truffle fries lived up to the hype – a generous amount of truffle flavour, unlike some places that skimp. Our server, Rezvan, was a gem. Despite the restaurant being packed, she was always attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I'll definitely be back!
We started off at the bar and ordered the calamari. The bartender was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Try the Gladys, it's delicious! We moved to a table and ordered dinner. All the meals look delicious. I had a margarita pizza, and it did not disappoint. Definitely.A place I would go again next time I'm in the area.
Fumo was hands down on of the most wonderful dining experiences we have had in New York. Everything from the delicious food and wonderful service. The extremely friendly staff made the whole experience truly enjoyable. Francesco the owner was very involved great hospitality and just wonderful person. The baked clams were to die for. We would highly recommend this place and will come back again when we are in town.

I had the mac and cheese from heaven, probably with truffle oil because it was delectable. I can't wait to go back.
I dined here tonight at about 5:45pm to celebrate my friend and her daughter's birthday along with my mom. We were promptly seated inside and served shortly after. The first server, Steven, took our drink orders and gave us a little time to peruse the menu. We ultimately chose a rigatoni bolognese (friend's daughter), a penne vodka with meatballs (friend), a naked penne vodka for my mom and I had a spaghetti vongole. For drinks, my mom and I each had a raspberry lemonade and my friend and her daughter had a Fumo mocktail and a coke, respectively. Now after enjoying our meals, two other servers came and we requested extra bread from one and he never brought it, even after asking an additional time. Steven immediately brought it right after we were able to get his attention. Also while busting the table, the other server from the two mentioned earlier, reached across without asking for clearance which rubbed us all the wrong way because he passed really close to my face. This turned us off from tipping extra because the service was not great and I just thought I should make a note of it but other than that, everything else was good to go. I'll be back to try the brunch and other menu items.
I really enjoy Fumo—the food is consistently great and the atmosphere is always lively and welcoming. It’s a place I genuinely look forward to dining at. That said, I’ve noticed something that detracts from the experience. The owners are often present, which is usually a positive sign, but they come across as surprisingly impersonal. On a recent visit, one stood near the kitchen the entire time without once engaging with guests or checking on how things were going. Another lingered near the hostess stand, and when we left, neither acknowledged us or thanked us for coming. It’s a small gesture, but a warm goodbye or thank you goes a long way in making patrons feel appreciated—especially when it comes from ownership. Also, I have to mention the bread situation. It’s a bit baffling that warm bread isn’t offered, especially considering how many guests have apparently expressed the same frustration. It’s a simple touch that most diners expect and appreciate. Fumo has so much going for it, and with a little more attention to hospitality and guest feedback, it could elevate the experience even further.

I only ordered take out from this restaurant but the chicken Milanese is my go to meal. It is always good and the fastest delivery ever.
My food took over 3 hours to arrive and the hostess lied to me about the being out for delivery. Food was fine but not worth the wait
Very bad customer service, excellent food, very clean restaurant and bathroom. Today I wanted to buy a drink and the waiter told me that I have to sit at the bar.

Good food, but took a long time to receive our order. We asked for flat (vs. sparkling) water, figuring it was tap (which is fine) but then saw an $8 bottle of water added to the bill. It was an ok experience not great. I think we got into the background of a lot of instagram videos! annoying!
This bright and modern eatery didn’t show its strong roots to Italy. The taste and flavors were mediocre at best not to mention the hard piece of chicken cutlet in the Chicken Milanese. The salad appeared to be on its last survival. The service was decent at best and what really turned me off was the awful display from the hostess after we sat down and had our first drink that there is a 90 minute dine in time limit. The menu or upon entry, it did not indicate such not to mention 98 minutes later the establishment was half empty. The menu items are pretty pricey. We ordered one dish and one appetizer and 3 drinks each to pay over $100+ with tax and tip. The decor is beautiful but their bathroom does need some hourly maintenance. This establishment had good drinks but the food was bland and boring. FUMO Harlem is great to grab drinks before heading off to your next stop.

I visited the restaurant on February 4, 2026, around 4:00 PM, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. The host was not welcoming and appeared disengaged, as though she did not want to be at work. My date and I were seated near a large crowd despite there being available seating on the other side of the restaurant. When I asked if we could change seats, the host responded with an attitude that made us uncomfortable. After being seated, we waited approximately seven minutes without being acknowledged—no water, no greeting, nothing. Meanwhile, a guest who arrived after us and was seated next to us was immediately attended to. She received her wine before we received our drinks and her food before we received our appetizer, even though we were clearly there first. When I politely addressed this with the server, she appeared frustrated that I spoke up about the lack of service. The situation made me feel unwelcome, especially given that this occurred during Black History Month. My waiter never came back. Fortunately, another waiter, Miguel, completely turned the experience around. He was attentive, professional, and ensured that the remainder of our visit was pleasant. His service was greatly appreciated. While the food was excellent and the drinks were good, the overall experience left a lasting negative impression. Due to how we were treated, I would not return. I strongly encourage management to ensure staff are properly trained to provide respectful and equitable service to all guests, regardless of race.
I’m disappointed with the service during my last visit. I come to Fumo often and usually have a great experience, but this time our waitress, Meghan, was very rushed and rude. She made us feel pressured and even took our plates before we finished eating without asking. This is not the experience I’m used to here.
