Kashmir 9 New York Reviews
They serve really good and authentic food. We tried the Chicken biryani and their 2 curry, rice and naan combo and all were really good.
We had an extremely pleasant lunch experience. The menu had some great lunch offerings at reasonable prices in such a location with so yummy tastes. Each dish showcased the rich flavors. The appetizers were delicious, and the main meals stood their ground as well. We walked out happy and full. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We tried it twice on our visit to Newyork and would love to try it again. 5 Stars is still less for them.
A little shocked this does not have a higher rating. Have tried most of the menu and they do everything quite well. And have some hard to find Pakistani specialties - chicken haleem, pakora kadhi, beef nihari - all of them delicious. And the Kashmiri tea!! I’ll even say this is in my top 3 low key Indian/pakistani restaurants in the city.
Authentic home made food with excellent choices. Kheer , Naan and Anda kofta were too good. Staff is very polite and friendly. Karak chai is recommended. Highly recommended for its authentic Pakistani taste and spices. Very very economical indeed.
The only place I go to eat when I come to New York. Every near seasoned to perfection. I've seen other places serve lamb unseasoned and it's a no go. Kashmir9 will forever stay with me. First time eating here in 5 years. So greatful they stayed in business throughout covid and didn't close doors.
The staff here is always polite and helpful. They package the meals meticulously. I always order a Marsala tea. It tastes just like you were in Lahore. I do like mine a little spicer so when I get home I add additional flavor. I usually buy the lunch size and I buy four or five depending on my work schedule. But if I have one or two left over in three days I freeze them. They are just as tasty. I buy a roti for each meal. This time I realized they added to their sweet selections. It’s a huge variety for a small shop. You usually can tell how good a place is by its clientele. Many Pakistani drivers use this place for a tea or meal break. You can’t miss finding Kashmir9 because of all the taxis parked outside. Service is fast and the range of vegetarian dishes is around 8 or more. I love the cauliflower dish with rice, a dish with tofu, one with spinach and I love the chick pea dish as much as the cauliflower one. I had been out of the country for a while but when I walked in it was like yesterday. A big hello, where have you been and what would you like. The price is right. 4 lunches, roti, tea were 36 dollars plus I give a tip. It’s a great way to have a meatless meal substitute or just a change of pace in different flavors from Pakistan. If you are from Lahore, you would feel quite at home. This BRIT always feels at home. Even the rice is good- not over cooked.
I like it here and most times I pass into New York after travelling/working I stop by for some homemade food. Obviously they can’t cook it individually for each person that would take forever, so they display it and heat once the order is placed. Prayer room as well is helpful. Nice food and relaxed atmosphere MA
first time i came was because i always saw it packed during any hour of the day and people always looked happy. well i can assure you it’s just as delicious as it was before the pandemic, my first time, and i love the unpretentious vibes. i didn’t know they offer fresh made naan from the back until i saw down and it came to me. absolutely incredible bread. love this place.
So, we found this restaurant near our hotel and decided to have dinner there. We ordered chicken with rice and roti, and let me tell you, the taste was absolutely delicious! Not only that, but the service was super fast too. It's always a win when you get both great food and speedy service. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience! 😄👍
Happy they’re back! Their Chana masala is so good, hard to find someone to make it well. Lentils were cooked perfectly. Goat curry is always tender and always flavorful. Their chicken biryani is ok, needs more flavor. Veggie samosas are delicious. Naan is definitely made right, best crust. Aloo paratha is always on point. Tandoori chicken was ok, but very salty. This place is always good and reliable, a bit oily but I don’t have any issues after eating.
Kashmir 9 of Pakistan and India restaurant is very unconspicuous in manhattan area. If you are specifically looking for some decent Pakistani or indian non vegetarian dishes you can visit their restaurant. I found the kebabs were very dry and does not well with the rice they serve. The Naan was great though. I tried their signature kashmiri platter but was not impressed by the quality or taste. The place could be little bit cleaner for visitors to enjoy food in their own privacy. The prices are decent. Please visit if you are looking for decent Pakistani or afghan food
A deeply disappointing and disrespectful experience! I visited this restaurant with high hopes because I enjoy Pakistani cuisine and love trying new places. However, I’ve never been treated with such rudeness and disrespect at any other establishment. One of the staff members spoke to me in a very aggressive and angry tone while I was simply trying to place my order. Instead of communicating politely, they practically yelled at me — it was completely unacceptable. The poor service was just the beginning. The restaurant itself was extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The tables were sticky, the floors were covered in crumbs and dirt, and the condition of the restroom was absolutely appalling. It’s clear that hygiene is not a priority here, which is very concerning when food is being prepared and served. As for the food — I honestly can’t say much because the disrespectful treatment and filthy environment completely ruined my appetite. This establishment seriously needs to reevaluate its customer service approach and sanitation standards. I will never go back and would not recommend this place to anyone. It’s surprising that a business with such disregard for customer satisfaction and cleanliness is still operating. I hope the management reads this review and takes immediate action to make improvements.
We had such a worse experience here. They are just microwaving old stored food when we order and the food was so dry and tasteless. Even the rice was so dry and microwaved. I have never seen such a burnt and thick rock like naan. We couldn’t even bite it. When we told this to the guy that was in the counter taking orders, he never even bothered to hear what the customers concern was. Please don’t see the star rating and go. There is no option to give zero stars in google. I am attaching the pic here that we didn’t eat at all after ordering. Such a horrible experience. We also ordered a biriyani and I have never had such a horrible biriyani in my entire life. It was so dry with no flavours and tasted like white rice. The color of the biriyani is from the food coloring and not spices. Please don’t go here seeing the low prices.
Such a worst place to go to eat. No cleanliness and the food is not fresh. They just microwave in front of the customers and give the old food. Their breads are all so hard that we cannot eat and chew. The meat is also old and they put too much food color - it’s just red 40 that you eat. The food is very bland and dry and old. I am sure they don’t serve fresh food or even food from the same day at all. I had severe stomach pain after eating here and I did not even eat half of what I ordered as the food was no eatable. Such a bad experience and will never go again.
