Leon Bakery New York Reviews
Absolutely love this spot. Had to have it two days in a row. Don’t let the lines scare you. They move so fast. The staff is so friendly, and it’s the cutest spot. Highly reccomend the Lox bagel or a BEC with hot honey. It’s a must stop while in NYC.
4.5 * is accurate but we round up to 5 because they were open when that snow storm hit and everyone else coudnt be assed to open I agree it’s not the best bagle I’ve had in NYC but it’s a very solid option in a very easy to find location Just wished it was a different cheese ? The cheddar seemed a little flat to me. Had the bacon twice kinda wished I tried the sausage. Bagel is good I thought it was definitely up there as a solid effort
We tried the Cinnamon Raisin Bagel w/ sausage, egg, & cheese & an Everything Bagel w/ jalapeño cream cheese, tomato, & bacon. Both were great! 🥯 Orange juice & Matcha were good too 🍵 Service was fast considering the long line :))
In my opinion, the best bagel place in the world. I’m from Chile and I’ve been to New York several times, and a bagel from Leon’s is always a must. I truly believe the flavor of their bagels can’t be found anywhere else. The girls are incredibly kind, the service is fast, and everything runs so smoothly. We went early and there was no line at all. I always order the same thing: a bacon, avocado, egg, and cheese bagel — perfection every single time. Thank you for filling both my heart and my stomach. See you on my next visit 🤍
Overall such a great experience!! The bagel was unreal (I had the Everything w/ Herb and Garlic CC and my BF had the Egg Bacon and Cheese!) We talked all day about how good they were. So fresh, soft & hot inside, and crisp on the outside! The spreads were so yum and the girls who were working there were so nice as well!! We were initially a bit worried by the line, but it moved super quickly and we only ended up waiting 15ish minutes! There is no inside eating area, but we took our food a 5 min walk up the road to Washington Square Park and had a beautiful time there! All in all a great experience and a 10/10 from me x Update: We went back 3 times hahahah
Best bagel EVER! I will leave what was my order cause it was best combination in the world 🥯 Sausage Egg and cheese sandwich+Everything bagel (toasted)+Chilli crisp+Mike’s hot honey+added onion and tomato=The best bagel 👍🏻 I tried some bagel store in New York but Leon’s was my pick 🤍 Especially, Chilli crisp 🌶️ It makes more savory. I hope this store never closed so that I could back in New York for this 🇺🇸
Amazing breakfast sandwich and coffee! I had been hearing about how good the breakfast sandwiches from Leon's were for a long time now and I am disappointed in myself for waiting so long to try one. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an egg everything bagel w/ scallion cream cheese. We also tried the coffee and it was fantastic. I do not drink black coffee, however, this is the exception. No milk or sugar needed. I came here at an off time - 15 minutes before closing on a Sunday and the wait time was minimal. Not sure how bad the wait is during prime time, but it would be worth it. You should definitely try Leon's and honestly, copy my order - you will be hooked!
Leon's bagels are amazing. After waiting in line for 20 minutes (average wait time in NYC for everything!) at 9 a.m., I enjoyed the typical New York breakfast with eggs, bacon, and cheese and a delicious cappuccino on W. Houston Street. The staff was super friendly despite the heavy workload—respect! Highly recommended!
Got a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel quality was amazing - did not disappoint, however I personally did not like the taste of the everything bagel. It had an aftertaste I was not a fan of and tasted more whole wheat. This was a personal preference, objectively speaking, it was good quality. If I go again, I'll definitely get a plain one so I can enjoy the flavor more. The egg, cheese and bacon were all excellent. Good quality.
Heard a lot about Leon’s bagels so I had to try in my trip to NYC and could not recommend more! The attention is great even when it got very crowded, there’s not much place to sit but they offer seating outside. Me and my friend got the exact same bagel (BEC) and i wish we would’ve gotten two different to try more. The bagels are HUGE so it’s great for sharing and have great pricing in my opinion. Please get the bacon egg and cheese!!!
I've been twice and they were very consistent. Insane bagel — truly the New York experience. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese (of course) and it was absolute perfection. I’d personally add hot sauce, but that’s just me. The line when you arrive is CRAZY — like full-on party vibes outside — but it actually moves pretty quickly, and the staff handles the crowd like pros. Pro tip: grab your bagel and head to Washington Square Park to eat it. Do not stay in front of the shop with the masses. Yikes.
If you’re looking for the best bagels in New York, Leon’s bagels is an absolute must-visit. Their bagels strike the perfect balance—crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The flavor options are plentiful, but the classics like everything, sesame, and plain are unbeatable. Paired with their fresh cream cheese or smoked salmon, it’s a true New York experience. The shop has a steady flow of locals and tourists alike, which says a lot about its reputation. Be prepared to wait in line during peak hours, but trust me, the taste makes it worth every minute.
I have a whole storytime — this was my second time at Leon’s but my first (at their other location) was a bit of a letdown. My order was messed up, the bagels dry and hard but the staff ended up reaching out, inviting me in for bagels on the house! Already a better experience due to the quality of customer service. As for the bagels, last time was definitely an off day — today, they were fresh and fluffy, packed with flavorful filling. Highly recommend for the taste and service! Will be returning for sure now!
A great little walk up and take out spot for bagel lovers. The food was nice ( we got a cheese and bacon bagel and a cheese and sausage bagel) however bacon bagel was a little greasy. Very big portions though! Didn’t have to wait long in queue however we did visit when weather was poor, which may have contributed to less people as no seating available.
Came here around noon on a Friday. There was a line we probably waited about 30 mins. Order ahead is possible so I recommend doing that. Coffee was good. I got a sausage egg and cheese on an egg bagel and an iced vanilla latte and honestly I was exactly what I wanted. The bagel is not the best bag I’ve had but this is exactly what I wanted so I can’t complain. I would definitely come again. There is no dine in area and be prepared to wait in a line in the cold
Was dying to try Leon’s all trip and finally did my last day. My only critique is the wait, we probably waited over an hour in line + after ordering to get our food, not unexpected going at 10:45 on a weekend morning. But once we got it, worth the wait. The bagels were so delicious, each ingredient was delicious in its own right. And I already can’t wait to go back when I’m in New York next. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, an absolutely delicious mess. My friend got a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel and she loved it. And don’t sleep on the coffee, the cold brew was sneaky amazing too. Highly recommend.
Not sure what the hype is about but as a true New Yorker I give this place 3/5 stars. It was a good bagel but not the best I’ve had. A lot of tourists visiting the area and waiting in long lines which probably attracts more attention. It’s a good quick pick me up, nothing I would go out of my way for. I must say they were good with timing, I ordered a pick up order and as soon as I came they weren’t fully ready with the order but started working faster & gave me my bagel 2 mins later.
hey besties, usually love leons as the quality is truly there, usually not a greasy sammie, and the egg everything is my fave!! today unfortch was a diff story so I had to mention… got a BEC with avo and onion, and ended up with a solid pound of cheese on my sammie. wish I Iwas fibbing but that sammie had so much cheese I was almost sick 🥲 I pulled off the 5 layered cheezy egg to realize it was about half and egg but a pound of cheese. I have attached photos of all the cheese I had to pull and the sammie :( prob wont be coming back for a bit but just had to mention. Attached are photos of the cheese mound I had to pull off as well as a comparison of how much cheese I pulled off of one half compared to how the sammie looked.
I grew up loving nyc bagels - whether from a deli or a bagel store. This is the worst bagel I’ve had in the city. Let me explain. To me, the benchmark of a good bagel is that it’s chewy and delicious whether toasted or untoasted. Untoasted, the everything egg bagel was dry and tasted stale, as if I had purchased it from the grocery store. Do not buy a dozen for a group gathering! I wonder if the hype is from the cutesy girlie vibe and unique sandwich flavors like chile crisp. Standing room outside only.
I know this is a hip hop spot but Catering/bulk order is not something I would do again. No fault of the staff of shift (they were tryin their darndest) but omg. I ordered for an 8am pick up which was interpreted as “we open at 8am and will start making your 30-bagel + cream cheese + salmon order at 8am”. So it was ready at 8:20am. That said, the prices are good. 20-people’s worth of salmon for $30. Not bad. But also it wasn’t actually enough for 20 people… so. Also, the gluten free bagels were a) frozen, b) horrible The line was already long by 8:05am. Again, they’re trying. But omg would not do this again.
