Opinions de Leon Bakery New York
This was great! We really enjoyed our bagels here, had a bite on the small terrace and then took the rest to the nearby park. The coffee was great and I also bought a cute keychain as a souvenir. 10/10 Of course we waited in line for 20mins and it was super crowded but it’s worth the wait!
Loved it! Amazing bagles but will take you some time to get your order ready. The line could be long but it moves fast; the real wait though is when you wait to pick up order. I tried the classic lox, and made my own bagles with eggs, avocado, and herb & garlic cheese. All were really good! The portion also is huge so I’d consider it a whole meal. There isn’t much space to eat, but Washington Square is only 5 minutes away so that could be a good spot to have your bagles.
We went during the Peach and Lily event for the first time and it was amazing! We got a bacon egg and cheese on pumpernickel and a sausage egg and cheese on an egg everything bagel. There was a great amount of filling and the eggs were cooked perfectly (not dry at all)! Definitely recommend for an affordable and filling breakfast 🥯😊
I’ve never tasted a bagel that’s soooo extremely fresh. Literally just out the oven. I recently changed my eating lifestyle to gluten-free. I’m so grateful Leon’s Bagels makes the most amazing gluten-free everything bagel. My goodness! I had to look at my receipt to make sure it was gluten free. I ordered a gluten-free everything bagel with vegan cream cheese. Wow!! Soooo delicious! Definitely adding Leon’s Bagels to my morning stop for breakfast or afternoon snack. Sooo worth the wait! Thank You Leon’s Bagels for making the most delicious bagels!
Might be THE BEST BAGELS EVER?!? Recently tried the Molly tea collaboration with Leon’s bagels and it did not disappoint. The bagel was warm and crispy and the jasmine tea cream cheese paired well with it. You know it’s good when it’s always busy with lots of people lining up. Will definitely be back!
I was skeptical about their bagels since the place is so cute… boy did they prove me wrong. My lox bagel was phenomenal. Delicious lox, great ratio, perfectly toasted & fluffy bagel texture. The staff was super friendly and service was quick despite the line & lunch rush. Also important to mention the matcha was 11/10. Will be sprinting back to try more items that caught my eye such as the strawberry cream cheese & hot honey chili crisp
I was visiting nyc yesterday for the day and I had looking for a place to get bagels because I love having my morning bagel. I came across Leon’s on social media and decided to check it out. Since I didn’t know what to order I asked a couple employees what they thought I should do, and they ended up crafting an order that’s was perfect to what I wanted! They were super super sweet as well so I had to go back and thank them after. If you’re looking for a really good bagel with great service and a cute storefront, then Leon’s should definitely be on your list.
Went to Leon’s Bagels on a Sunday day morning the week before Christmas about 1130am. It was cold and you need to wait about 20 mins in line to order, but once we ordered our coffee and bagels were ready within about 8 mins. Coffee was good and the bagels were amazing! We ordered the bacon egg cheese favorite and avocado, egg and cheese on everything bagels and they were hot and tasty! Only issue is that there is really nowhere to sit and eat, especially when it’s cold out. Need to walk somewhere else and eat. Worth the wait, but maybe plan where you are going to eat your food before you order so you can have your hands full of bagels and walk right there.
Leon’s Bagels is the best Gluten free / Dairy free bagel I’ve had in NY so far and I’ve tried a few!! This bagel was properly toasted and the classic lox fillings were spot on. You definitely get your money’s worth, and even my matcha was amazing! Highly recommend the egg sandwiches if you eat cheese! Also the workers were so nice <33 10/10 will be back!!
The best bagel!!! Staff were super nice and professional. We were visiting from TN and Texas and unaware there was a brand collab/giveaways. Line was wrapped around the building. The owner came and pulled everyone who was simply there for their bagels to go make their order. It was super nice, organized, and the bagels did not disappoint.
TLDR; best bagels I’ve ever had. We stopped by when the shop opened to pick up a bagel each and they were so good that we got a third just because. The bagel sandwiches do take a bit to be made, so don’t expect to just order and get it right away. What we ordered: everything egg bagel with egg, tomato and cream cheese, everything bagel with egg, onion, cheddar and avocado, poppy bagel with scallion cream cheese and chilli oil. No regrets here.
Quick and DELICIOUS! My friend said their honey chili was the best so I also got those and i don't regret it😋😋 sweet and salty and some spiciness (it's just...the best) Right next to it was pop up bagels and since they don't cut it in half, some cafes won't allow you to eat those there but he said "you can eat Leon bagels here, Leon bagle is fine" haha
Absolutely! This bagel establishment is nothing short of exceptional. Their diverse selection of bagels is truly remarkable. It’s as if they’ve ingeniously combined the best attributes of a kaiser roll and a bagel, resulting in a culinary marvel. With a satisfyingly crunchy exterior and a delectably chewy interior, these bagels are a delightful revelation. To maximize your experience, I highly recommend visiting during the weekend between 9 and 9:30 AM to avoid the lengthy queues. Your palate will undoubtedly express gratitude for this exquisite choice!
A friend recommended Leon’s Bagels, and it quickly became a favorite spot. We tried a variety of their bagels, and they were all fantastic—so good, in fact, that we returned the very next day for more. Despite the place being consistently busy, the woman behind the counter managed everything with a warm smile and great efficiency, handling the rush of requests seamlessly. The bagels were delicious, fresh, and flavorful, making it well worth the visit. If you’re a bagel lover, Leon’s Bagels is a must-try. Highly recommended for its great food and friendly service!
The sausage, egg, and cheese bagel with mayo and ketchup is an elite combo! It gave me a very much worth it salt headache after. Every bite was amazing. Prob the best breakkie bagel I've had in recent memory. They are very generous with the cheddar so you get a beautiful pull, and I love it because you can actually taste the cheese in the bite and not just see it (what a waste otherwise, no?) Would go back again every time I feel hyponatremic. Highly recommend ordering online ahead. Very cute storefront but since they make your order with care, prepare to wait at least 20 min. Lovely place!
We love love love Leon’s!!!! This location specifically! Capri was an absolute icon and overdid herself in hospitality! Even though there was a line you couldn’t see the end of, she was attentive and kind and personable. Even if the bagels weren’t fabulous, which wasn’t the case, we would’ve come back again just for the service!!!! We’ve already been a few times and just love an appreciate the consistency and delight that is a bagel from Leon’s! Proud to call this one of our staples now!!!
This spot was on my list for a bit now and I'm so glad I made it. The cutest walk up window, a nice little bench outside with quite the view, the friendliest cashier (shout out to Gracelyn who was so peppy so early in the morning) and a stacked bacon egg and cheese on the perfect bagel. Do not miss your chance to try out this spot. You won't be disappointed.
One of the best bagel spots in Manhattan. Leon’s Bagel nails the classic New York bagel experience — fresh, flavorful, and just the right amount of chewy. Their Classic Lox Sandwich is a must-try. There’s no indoor seating, but they do have a few limited outdoor spots. If the weather’s nice, I recommend grabbing your bagel and coffee to go and heading over to Washington Square Park — it’s just a short walk away. They also sell some great merch, though I do wish their house blend coffee beans were available for purchase — the coffee is that good. Definitely worth a visit, even if it means taking a small detour. A real gem in the heart of Manhattan.
This was probably the best bagel I’ve ever had. We tried it on a whim just passing by seeing there was a short line. The bagel itself was quite pricey but very filling. The only thing is that there were no prices listed on the menu so we didn’t know until actually ordering. The next time I’m in NYC I’m definitely coming back because it was worth it!!
Leon’s Bagels absolutely hit the spot! The bagels are perfectly chewy with just the right crunch on the outside — truly some of the best I’ve ever had. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I’m still dreaming about the flavors and can’t wait to come back next time I’m in NYC. A must-visit!
My absolute favorite bagel in the whole city! It is well worth the wait, and the wait doesn’t even take that long. If you are in a rush, you can order online in advance. It is a very cute takeout counter, and the staff is very kind even though they have to keep going nonstop, they still make you feel welcome.
We came across Leon’s by chance and decided to try a few. We created our own flavor combos but I think picking from the menu would have been easier. In fact I picked a salt bagel with bacon that became too salty. Other than that, the bagels were quite big, filled with fresh, tasty, quality ingredients and fairy priced. Would definitely love to go back.
Leon’s Bagels has been kind enough to gift Zeta Tau Alpha at NYU bagels, and the experience with them has been incredible. From packaging to taste, they truly go above and beyond. The bagels come in beautiful checkered boxes that are perfect for delivery and make the whole experience feel special and elevated. The boxes are sturdy and high quality, which not only keeps everything fresh but also makes opening them feel like a treat. The owners are some of the kindest and most helpful people to work with, and coordinating pickup could not be smoother. The bagels were prepared on time, packaged perfectly, and the whole process was so easy. The bagels themselves were incredibly fresh and delicious, with jumbo bagels included so there were plenty for everyone - and enough for each sister to have a couple. Everyone was raving about how good they were, and the scallion cream cheese was gone within minutes because it was such a hit. Leon’s Bagels is genuinely one of the best spots we’ve worked with: fantastic quality, amazing service, and a truly thoughtful experience from start to finish. We are so thankful for their generosity and can’t wait for our next bagel-filled sisterhood morning. If you need Bagels for a big event, YOU MUST GO TO LEONS!!
My first time trying a proper NYC bagel and it did not disappoint! Went at breakfast and had the egg everything bagel with sausage, bacon & cheese. Perfect breakfast combo in a bagel. A nice selection of bagel choices to suit various tastes. Washed down with a vanilla latte. Didn't have to wait too long (this was just after 8am), and the service was efficient.
Absolutely love this spot. Had to have it two days in a row. Don’t let the lines scare you. They move so fast. The staff is so friendly, and it’s the cutest spot. Highly reccomend the Lox bagel or a BEC with hot honey. It’s a must stop while in NYC.
4.5 * is accurate but we round up to 5 because they were open when that snow storm hit and everyone else coudnt be assed to open I agree it’s not the best bagle I’ve had in NYC but it’s a very solid option in a very easy to find location Just wished it was a different cheese ? The cheddar seemed a little flat to me. Had the bacon twice kinda wished I tried the sausage. Bagel is good I thought it was definitely up there as a solid effort
We tried the Cinnamon Raisin Bagel w/ sausage, egg, & cheese & an Everything Bagel w/ jalapeño cream cheese, tomato, & bacon. Both were great! 🥯 Orange juice & Matcha were good too 🍵 Service was fast considering the long line :))
In my opinion, the best bagel place in the world. I’m from Chile and I’ve been to New York several times, and a bagel from Leon’s is always a must. I truly believe the flavor of their bagels can’t be found anywhere else. The girls are incredibly kind, the service is fast, and everything runs so smoothly. We went early and there was no line at all. I always order the same thing: a bacon, avocado, egg, and cheese bagel — perfection every single time. Thank you for filling both my heart and my stomach. See you on my next visit 🤍
Overall such a great experience!! The bagel was unreal (I had the Everything w/ Herb and Garlic CC and my BF had the Egg Bacon and Cheese!) We talked all day about how good they were. So fresh, soft & hot inside, and crisp on the outside! The spreads were so yum and the girls who were working there were so nice as well!! We were initially a bit worried by the line, but it moved super quickly and we only ended up waiting 15ish minutes! There is no inside eating area, but we took our food a 5 min walk up the road to Washington Square Park and had a beautiful time there! All in all a great experience and a 10/10 from me x Update: We went back 3 times hahahah
Best bagel EVER! I will leave what was my order cause it was best combination in the world 🥯 Sausage Egg and cheese sandwich+Everything bagel (toasted)+Chilli crisp+Mike’s hot honey+added onion and tomato=The best bagel 👍🏻 I tried some bagel store in New York but Leon’s was my pick 🤍 Especially, Chilli crisp 🌶️ It makes more savory. I hope this store never closed so that I could back in New York for this 🇺🇸
Amazing breakfast sandwich and coffee! I had been hearing about how good the breakfast sandwiches from Leon's were for a long time now and I am disappointed in myself for waiting so long to try one. I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an egg everything bagel w/ scallion cream cheese. We also tried the coffee and it was fantastic. I do not drink black coffee, however, this is the exception. No milk or sugar needed. I came here at an off time - 15 minutes before closing on a Sunday and the wait time was minimal. Not sure how bad the wait is during prime time, but it would be worth it. You should definitely try Leon's and honestly, copy my order - you will be hooked!
Leon's bagels are amazing. After waiting in line for 20 minutes (average wait time in NYC for everything!) at 9 a.m., I enjoyed the typical New York breakfast with eggs, bacon, and cheese and a delicious cappuccino on W. Houston Street. The staff was super friendly despite the heavy workload—respect! Highly recommended!
Got a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel quality was amazing - did not disappoint, however I personally did not like the taste of the everything bagel. It had an aftertaste I was not a fan of and tasted more whole wheat. This was a personal preference, objectively speaking, it was good quality. If I go again, I'll definitely get a plain one so I can enjoy the flavor more. The egg, cheese and bacon were all excellent. Good quality.
Heard a lot about Leon’s bagels so I had to try in my trip to NYC and could not recommend more! The attention is great even when it got very crowded, there’s not much place to sit but they offer seating outside. Me and my friend got the exact same bagel (BEC) and i wish we would’ve gotten two different to try more. The bagels are HUGE so it’s great for sharing and have great pricing in my opinion. Please get the bacon egg and cheese!!!
I've been twice and they were very consistent. Insane bagel — truly the New York experience. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese (of course) and it was absolute perfection. I’d personally add hot sauce, but that’s just me. The line when you arrive is CRAZY — like full-on party vibes outside — but it actually moves pretty quickly, and the staff handles the crowd like pros. Pro tip: grab your bagel and head to Washington Square Park to eat it. Do not stay in front of the shop with the masses. Yikes.
If you’re looking for the best bagels in New York, Leon’s bagels is an absolute must-visit. Their bagels strike the perfect balance—crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The flavor options are plentiful, but the classics like everything, sesame, and plain are unbeatable. Paired with their fresh cream cheese or smoked salmon, it’s a true New York experience. The shop has a steady flow of locals and tourists alike, which says a lot about its reputation. Be prepared to wait in line during peak hours, but trust me, the taste makes it worth every minute.
Yes, there was a long queue—because apparently half of NYC had the same idea that morning. But honestly? Worth the wait. The bagel great, egg was cooked to perfection, sausage doing its job. Now, the $4 upcharge for avocado did make me pause—? But hey, I’m not a New Yorker, so maybe that’s just standard here
Got an egg everything with cream cheese and a ice chai latte. The chai was very good but out of a cartoon so pretty standard. The bagel was really tasty. It was a bit under toasted but thats how all bagel places are. It would be 5 stars but no seeds on the bottom half is a cardinal sin and worth -1 star
Cute spot that's easy to order from, with huge portions and great taste. I loved the salmon lox bagel—it was delicious and very generously sized, which was a big bonus. While it is slightly overpriced for what it is, I appreciated the quality, especially with the salmon and all the toppings like capers. That said, their menu doesn’t list prices, so you have to ask, which is a bit inconvenient. Also, the staff weren’t friendly at all and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. They were actually quite rude, but thankfully that didn’t take away from how tasty the bagel was. Despite the service, I’d go back for the food and the cute vibe!
Vegetarian friendly. Although waiters were not sure when talking about their vegetarian options, the veggie bagel was tasty and the portion was really big. My partner ate the whole thing and was full but for me a half was good enough so it was nice to finish it later as it was still really good. Great packaging! Thanks, would try again
Leon’s Bagels certainly lives up to the hype, though be prepared for a wait - lines can easily stretch 20 minutes or more. Fortunately, the service is quick, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The bagels themselves are outstanding: fresh from the oven, with perfect texture, generous fillings, and an unmistakable attention to quality and care. We tried the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, tomatoes and onions. I’d rate it as a solid 9.5/10
Yummy Yummy bagel in my tummy! Great experience if the wait ain’t long. The bagel itself is damn good, up there with the best spots I’ve had. Well toasted with a great chew. Everything bagel seasoning is spot on and overall makes for a damn good bagel. The sandwich preparation was a bit lacking. They clearly used shredded cheese which is normally not an issue but the guy who put it clearly had a heavy hand. I dont need a cheese pull like these influencers/basic-people want for their IG photos. Had to toss out some cheese cause it was way too much for me. Less cheese and slightly crispier bacon and it would be perfect. I will come back to have bagels with cream cheese here. I wouldn’t wait on a long line for it though. No bagel place in NYC is worth 30+ mins of wait if you’re a local.
Although this spot has the cutest storefront ever, I was expecting so much more from this place! I’m disappointed they don’t have a place to sit comfortably nearby, the bagel was tasty, but does not justify the price compared to other bagel spots. I think they could have so much more success if they had a small indoor space where people could immediately enjoy their bagels!
I have a whole storytime — this was my second time at Leon’s but my first (at their other location) was a bit of a letdown. My order was messed up, the bagels dry and hard but the staff ended up reaching out, inviting me in for bagels on the house! Already a better experience due to the quality of customer service. As for the bagels, last time was definitely an off day — today, they were fresh and fluffy, packed with flavorful filling. Highly recommend for the taste and service! Will be returning for sure now!
A great little walk up and take out spot for bagel lovers. The food was nice ( we got a cheese and bacon bagel and a cheese and sausage bagel) however bacon bagel was a little greasy. Very big portions though! Didn’t have to wait long in queue however we did visit when weather was poor, which may have contributed to less people as no seating available.
Came here around noon on a Friday. There was a line we probably waited about 30 mins. Order ahead is possible so I recommend doing that. Coffee was good. I got a sausage egg and cheese on an egg bagel and an iced vanilla latte and honestly I was exactly what I wanted. The bagel is not the best bag I’ve had but this is exactly what I wanted so I can’t complain. I would definitely come again. There is no dine in area and be prepared to wait in a line in the cold
Was dying to try Leon’s all trip and finally did my last day. My only critique is the wait, we probably waited over an hour in line + after ordering to get our food, not unexpected going at 10:45 on a weekend morning. But once we got it, worth the wait. The bagels were so delicious, each ingredient was delicious in its own right. And I already can’t wait to go back when I’m in New York next. I got a bacon egg and cheese on a sesame bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, an absolutely delicious mess. My friend got a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel and she loved it. And don’t sleep on the coffee, the cold brew was sneaky amazing too. Highly recommend.
The bagels are not bad at all but I would definitely consider them over hyped, and over priced. The bagels themselves are hard and kind of dry with little taste. The bagel sandwiches are good but small for the price and also lacking flavor. I'm sorry but if I pay $4 extra dollars for avocado on my bagel i'm expecting at least half an avocado. The aesthetic is very cute however, I just wouldn't say it's worth it.
As a native New Yorker, I cannot understand any reviewer referring to this bagel place as exceptional. It was good but nowhere near the caliber of other well known bagel shops in NYC. A decent bagel though and a better experience than Popup bagel next door which requires the purchase of three bagels. Why?
I’d heard the buzz about Leon’s Bagel, so I stopped by during a recent trip to Manhattan. The hype clearly draws a crowd—I spent about 20 minutes just waiting in line and another 25 minutes after ordering before my bagel was ready. When it finally arrived, I won’t deny it was a solid bagel: fresh, well–stuffed, and made with care. But at the end of the day, it’s still just a bagel. Plenty of other respectable spots in the city turn out equally satisfying results without the prolonged wait or the breathless fanfare. For all that time and hype I half expected fireworks for my taste buds when I took a bite. While Leon’s delivers on quality, the overall experience felt overhyped compared with what’s essentially a standard, if good, bagel.
Not sure what the hype is about but as a true New Yorker I give this place 3/5 stars. It was a good bagel but not the best I’ve had. A lot of tourists visiting the area and waiting in long lines which probably attracts more attention. It’s a good quick pick me up, nothing I would go out of my way for. I must say they were good with timing, I ordered a pick up order and as soon as I came they weren’t fully ready with the order but started working faster & gave me my bagel 2 mins later.
hey besties, usually love leons as the quality is truly there, usually not a greasy sammie, and the egg everything is my fave!! today unfortch was a diff story so I had to mention… got a BEC with avo and onion, and ended up with a solid pound of cheese on my sammie. wish I Iwas fibbing but that sammie had so much cheese I was almost sick 🥲 I pulled off the 5 layered cheezy egg to realize it was about half and egg but a pound of cheese. I have attached photos of all the cheese I had to pull and the sammie :( prob wont be coming back for a bit but just had to mention. Attached are photos of the cheese mound I had to pull off as well as a comparison of how much cheese I pulled off of one half compared to how the sammie looked.
The wait for a pretty standard bagel is comical. We had to wait 30 mins for a bagel with peanut butter and jelly. I felt like an idiot. It tasted nice and was enjoyable but 30 minutes was an absolute joke. It was never communicated that it would take that long. This is popular because of social media - it looks great but that’s about it. The bagel pub has much better offerings.
Good service but the bagel was dry with an odd texture. It wasn’t chewy , it was almost the texture of a cake donut. Also, bagel had a faint sweetness to them - why are we adding sugar to bagels? Expected more from a popular bagel place in Manhattan.
I grew up loving nyc bagels - whether from a deli or a bagel store. This is the worst bagel I’ve had in the city. Let me explain. To me, the benchmark of a good bagel is that it’s chewy and delicious whether toasted or untoasted. Untoasted, the everything egg bagel was dry and tasted stale, as if I had purchased it from the grocery store. Do not buy a dozen for a group gathering! I wonder if the hype is from the cutesy girlie vibe and unique sandwich flavors like chile crisp. Standing room outside only.
I know this is a hip hop spot but Catering/bulk order is not something I would do again. No fault of the staff of shift (they were tryin their darndest) but omg. I ordered for an 8am pick up which was interpreted as “we open at 8am and will start making your 30-bagel + cream cheese + salmon order at 8am”. So it was ready at 8:20am. That said, the prices are good. 20-people’s worth of salmon for $30. Not bad. But also it wasn’t actually enough for 20 people… so. Also, the gluten free bagels were a) frozen, b) horrible The line was already long by 8:05am. Again, they’re trying. But omg would not do this again.
Be careful, food poisoning. I usually don’t write reviews, but this experience was really bad. I went here right before New Year’s and had a bagel with lox cream cheese. Unfortunately, I got severe food poisoning afterward. I’m still shocked because it was all over TikTok and we stand in line for 30 min.My friend had a different cream cheese and felt completely fine. It was also the only thing I ate that day, so I’m quite certain it came from here. I had to fly the next day, which made it an extremely unpleasant experience. Just wanted to share as a warning.
