Opinions de Terra Blues Albee Square
Went to buy a shirt and the dudes at the door and working the floor were busy as heck but we’re still able to grab me one. I appreciate them. They seem like solid people.
Authentic blues bar, live music, nice ambiance. Just remember to bring cash ($20 pp) for the cover and some loose change for the performers' tips (totally deserved it).
Great place. Nice people, nice prices, 500 whiskeys and great music!
Amazing place for great music and with an amazing whiskey selection.
Great little bar with really talented performers. Bar staff were friendly and had a very reasonable cover charge. One of the highlights of my trip visiting NYC.
Terra Blues is one of the best places to listen very good music in New York city. The musicians playing are very skilled and it is a pleasure to listen. The atmosphere is unique, each table has its own candle, the light is scarcely. The service is fast, cocktails are good! Suggested if you are looking to listen to blues in the city!
The cover lets you stay all night and come in and out. Such a chill vibe with great bartenders and staff. The 10 pm band was AMAZING!
Nice spot that can have some pretty great music. I always have a good time and have enjoyed the other guests (sometimes there's some dancing which is always fun). Friendly staff and a nice whiskey selection makes this a go-to spot for me. Look up who's playing and swing by if you need a little blues fix in this jazz town.
I really enjoyed this spot. I felt like i did in the 90s nyc back in the days. They need some food there and that will seal the deal.
Awesome atmosphere! Really cool vibes, cozy place, the staff is friendly and helpful. If you are into whisky or bourbon you will have a plethora of choice. The music was absolutely brilliant, the sound was good (not too loud and great quality). Definitely recommend the place if you like blues. One of the best Blues bar I have been to so far.
Favorite place to go in the city. Go even if you don’t like blues music. Always a sure thing and guarantee nice time
Definitely the best blues bar in NY. Great authentic atmosphere and great groups playing.
Amazing venue, cosy, candle lit with great sound. Got in at 9 to watch the amazing Saron Crenshaw play followed by Spady and band. Cover charge of $10 is all you pay, whether you sit through one set or the whole night. Great selection of booze, reasonably priced. Most beers between $8-10. They do not serve food! Good crowd and good service. Must visit if you are a Blues fan. For reservations, just mail them, details on the site.
Been frequenting Terra Blues for the last 25 years. It can't get better for anyone who loves the Blues like I do.
It was a great night, I traveled around 13 states looking for a good blues bar where I can feel the music even more than the liquor in my veins... This place did it. The ambient was just perfect, the regular musicians did an impeccable job, the lights were appropriate and the bartender was great... Perfect place for my last night in NY. I'll definitely come back at some point of my life
One of the better blues clubs in NYC. A New Orleans 3, but NYC doesn't have many
I had a fantastic time at this cozy and authentic bar. The atmosphere was truly awesome, and the live band was exceptional, singing from the soul. However, it can get quite crowded on Saturday nights, so make sure to arrive early to secure a spot. My only wish is that they offered a wider variety of appetizers; they only had nuts. On the bright side, the cocktails were delicious, and the prices were affordable. The only downside was the $20 entrance fee. Overall, it was a memorable night with great music and a vibrant ambiance.
The vibes are great here, I always have to come when I'm in New York. The bands are so good, and the ambience is very nice. Definitely recommend stopping by!
We had an incredible time!! JR Mack and SaRon Crenshaw band played and were phenomenal. They should tell you about the $20 cover charge on the reservation when you book tho so you’re prepared! The wine was atrocious tho—they honestly should pour all of it down the drain BUT the espresso martini and old fashioned were wonderful!
Great ambience and wonderful music. As the name suggests, they play blues. The performers are top notch. The attending staff are very friendly and welcoming. They served us coffee even though it was late night Friday. They didn't charge for the coffee as well. I highly recommend this place for its vibe, music and professional management. The performers were too good and engaged the crowd with their light, friendly banter in between performances.
Really good place for music and drinks. Okay we came here a little bit early before the main set. But it was still very good amazing choice of hundreds of whiskeys. You pay a $10 cover to enter. From seven till eight 830 we listen to an acoustic set first. Overall good place to be. Will definitely come back for the 10 PM show which will be a lot more exciting.
Very good place, great live blues music, execellant band and service service No food just Alcoholic beverages and snacks
Fantastic venue for blues music and whiskey. The space is intimate but not crowded and the sound quality is exceptional. The staff were nice and, while there was a 2 drink minimum per person rule on the menu, did not pressure our table into ordering more drinks at any time. The selection of whiskey was one of the best I've seen and the pours weren't small. Most of the bourbons were $10-$15 which is reasonable compared to other places. Would highly, highly recommend to any music/whiskey fan.
If you are looking for the best jazz experience in New York, go to this place! Hands down the best show put. The sets start after 8pm and goes until 3am. They have different artists each day each week. There is a $20 cover charge, cash only. Only drinks, no food. Cocktails are nice, range between $13-$18 and they have a large selection of bourbon 🥃 and organic whiskeys. They have a full bar but a small cocktail menu, so you can get whatever you want.
I love the place, I love the music, I love the atmosphere. I always go Terra Blues when I visit NY. My best city! I will be there again soon.
Absolutely iconic. Its the atmosphere, vibe, and music you imagine when you think of old school whiskey and blues, my favourite places in ny for sure
A relaxing spot to listen to some good blues music while enjoying an overwhelmingly large selection of whiskeys. Great spot for a date or if you're just visiting NY and looking for a great experience and a chance to escape the fast-paced city for a little while. Note: cash only for the cover, so swing by an ATM before you go. Also during the early solo set, excessive conversation is generally discouraged, so if you're in a chatty mood, wait until slightly later in the evening and then enjoy. But definitely go enjoy at some point.
My FAVORITE live music spot in the city. The individuals who work here are so cool and kind and the drinks are delicious. There is a cover of $20 (I thiiiiink) but it is WORTH it. The music, the blues...it's so good. Always a place I find myself when I need a pick me up. And always a place I recommend to friends.
A gem! BRING CASH for the cover and the tip buckets for the talent! Cards are good for drinks, snacks, etc. Highly recommended for jazz lovers. Warm vibe, friendly service and lots of table seating upfront, alongside the bar and along the window (though far from the stage) Arrive early and stay late! Use your ticket to come back if you leave. We arrived early Sat nite for the first set, left for a bite to eat (no food here), then came back early enough to find seats for the set at 10p. Will be back!
I absolutely loved the vibe at this blues bar! For just $20, you can enjoy a whole evening of amazing live music. It’s best to bring cash for the cover, but once you’re inside, you can use a credit card to order drinks. The bands and performances here are top-notch, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. We had such a wonderful time spending Christmas Eve here!
A must see if your a Blues Fan!! This place is tucked in the Greenwich Village of New York. Loved the vibe, service and atmosphere. Our server, Crystal, was amazing with suggestions if sites to see and her fav eateries. Definitely a return visit is in order. Music was amazing with top notch musicians. A must see!
You can’t have a bad time at an amazing live blues venue with your name! Even if your name isn’t Terra Blue, it had an extremely intimate atmosphere, great cocktails, and some of the best blues musicians I have ever seen (and I’ve seen quite a few over the years). Even if you aren’t really into blues music or haven’t even heard much to know if you like it, do yourself a favor and experience this place. You won’t leave going “Meh”. You will leave understanding the emotional power and longevity of Blues Music.
I visited Terra Blues on a Monday afternoon, expecting it to be slow. However, the vibe is immediately there when it opens!! We had a reservation, which allows you to be seated closer to the stage and paid $10 per person as a cover charge. We were told that with the tickets, we could leave and come back throughout the night! We ordered a cosmo, NY sour, and salted roasted cashews! The drinks are strong, the music and live performers are amazing, and the service is on top! I can’t wait to visit again soon :)
One of my favourite spots in NYC. A warm welcome and unique acts. Every time I am over from England I come to see. I've never had food here, but Pizza Box nearby is good.
Terra Blues is one of our favorite New York venues. On this trip we went to the 7:00 show with Bobby Bryan Trio. I tried to make a reservation late but didn't get it. But, they let us have a reservation that the folks didn't show up for. We sat at the bar and the place was packed. The band was great. Bobby Bryan is a great performer and sometimes philosopher. I highly recommend this place. It has never disappointed.
Visited from the UK, we dont get many places like this where we live. We had a fantastic experience here of blues Americana. Waitresses were lovely attentive, music was first class and the atmosphere was amazing. Cocktails were delicious. Unfortunately we left at midnight they were open till 3am but as we were only in America for 5 days we had to be careful not to write off the next days plans! Highly recommend a visit.
There should be more places like that in the world where smaller artists can show their talents. I loved every minute of it. The singer of the evening introduced me to so many beautiful blues songs I’ve never heard before, he would also explain the background of each song. He played so full of heart that even one string broke loose. That evening moved me so much I will even write an article about the songs I discovered on my Substack. … Please please someone tell me what’s a soul of a man?… The service was a bit annoying and a bit out of place with miniskirts and bouncers rather unfriendly, but music made up for it!
I've been here 6 years ago and nothing changed since. The music is unbelievable great. I can't say anything about food, we drink mostly if it counts that food was great 5++++ The barman was insanely nice. Cannot find words to describe how happy I am. I'll be back for sure. Y
It's been a long time since I came here and I'm glad I came back. I love me some blues especially blues with harmonica and I just came in at random cuz I was up on midtown doing something else and I came in here afterwards cuz I thought about this place and like I said I haven't been here in a long time. Caught a good band met a couple of people at the bar. Service was good, music was great. Very glad I came. Be warned the space is a little bit tight but this is Manhattan. You probably already knew it wouldn't be the size of a football field.
AMAZING Jazz and perfect ambiance for date night or jazz enthusiasts. (I'm not a jazz enthusiast yet.)\n\nWent as two for NYE -- walked in last minute without reservations. The lighting felt low and …
Was on the hunt for live music following a concert in the area and Terra Blues was the No. 1 spot on the list! Terra Blues was a treat!! Vibey, dimly lit and perfect for a night that needs a night ca…
A unique venue for a blues show. It was reasonably priced with great customer service and even better drinks! They have great performers and 2 shows per night.
If you like live music - great blues - amazing musicians - a good drink and great atmosphere; Terra Blues is your place. Make sure to reserve a table and go, you will not be dissapointed.
Luvd it! Make sure you bring your VaccCard for entry, hit the ATM for cash to tip the live band/entertainment. Parking on the street if you can find it about a block or two away. No food only a huge selection of whiskeyz, liquorz and beer. IGAVE it 4 starz because they dont have any other way of tipping the entertainment! And no snackz.
The old standby of blues clubs remaining in New York City, same as it ever was, great musicians, intimate setting, drinks and not too expensive - Terra blues makes a great night out - still authentic New York City Greenwich village club that make for a memorable evening
Great music, okay drinks. The whiskey selection at the bar is 🔥
The place is small, intimate, you are very close to the musicians and it sounds good. The musicians are first class. In our case we had two hall of famers and a Grammy nominee. Unfortunately there is no food, you have to eat outside, before or after. And the wine... we had a bad California white, and a very bad California red. Definitely better to drink whiskey or beer. The service is excellent. We went on Monday and paid $10 for a ticket, plus beverage and musicians gratitude.
Great vibes if you wanna go out to have some drinks, spectacular live performances. The sittings however are limited especially on weekends so make sure to get there early if you want to have good seats. Also $20 dollars to enter the establishment which I understand since they gotta pay the bands.
Great music with a nice venue and great acts. However, it gets way too loud in the back and there's nothing stopping the sound coming all the way through to the stage. So, too many people just party hard out by the bar not listening to the music and just drowning out the performers.
The vibe was great, its fairly small in there so don’t expect much room to move around. There was no food however the drinks were on point. The air was very dusty it needs a deep clean is my only gripe with the location. They need a true system in place when taking orders I ordered one 12$ glass of wine for my partner and the 26$ whiskey combo and got charged 70$ the servers clearly either dont remember what they give you or just go nuts on your card.
I have been going here on my last two trips to New York, based on a friend’s recommendation. The first time I visited, the program was great, but the last time it felt a bit weak, which was disappointing. It is such a high quality place with a wonderful atmosphere, and if the content or shows were a bit richer, it could be an even better experience. Or maybe I just happened to visit on a slow day, I am not sure.
Musicians are amazing! Cocktails were great! BUT!!! I ordered whiskey flight and did not think much about it. They served one rye, one bourbon and one disgusting pumpkin spice flavored whiskey which was not replaced even I asked twice. Please serve and "SELECT" decent options if you are claiming to make good selections for your customers.
We wanted to see a good blues concert in New York with our two children, aged 13 and 16. Several bars refused entry since the kids were minors, which was clear and understandable. Terra Blues, howev…
The musicians were great creating a good blues ambience. Cocktails were very small, accompanied by nothing and the servers were mainly focused on asking if we need to reorder the cocktails. Tables too small and too close one with the others. There is an entrance ticket that they expect you to pay cash. There are no dishes….so the relevant questions proposed by google review …is irrelevant
It started out nice and quiet but towards the 2nd half, 8:30- 9:30 pm, the young crowd became unbearably noisy, like they had come not to listen to the blues but to just talk loudly! And there was no one to tell them politely to refrain from it, sadly.
I got a chance to pay a visit here to enjoy good music. It’s truly having great music and vibes here. However, the audience was too many, and I couldn’t even move after I got my drink on hand. I’m so looking forward to having another visit, with fewer people and I can enjoying the performance better.
The music is great and most of the staff are friendly, but they seriously need to fire the doorman. He is rude, disrespectful, and offensive toward customers. I saw him letting in girls for free based on his personal preferences, and when I asked where to pay, he dismissed me, hit my hand with the door, and spoke to me with incredible disrespect. Aside from that, the place is amazing — just get rid of him.
Black bouncer was racist to me and my girlfriend. Music was good but people who worked there were very rude.
The music is great, the atmosphere is great. But they expect you to TIP at every front that it is RIDICULOUS. If you don't tip at least $10, they will come chasing after you. They are absolutely shameless. There is nothing hard about bringing food more point A -> point B. They are already getting paid wage and they want me to tip $20 for this unskilled labor and feel bad for them ? The people here that want you to tip at every second are absolutely disgusting people with no skill other than begging.
Not recommended. The service was disrespectful, drinks were poorly made and took over 30 minutes to arrive. On top of that, we were surprised by unexpected fees, the acoustics were terrible AND to finish it off, an automatic tip was added to the bill.
The music is great, the atmosphere is great. But they expect you to TIP at every front that it is RIDICULOUS. If you don't tip at least 20%, they will come chasing after you. They are absolutely shameless and will put you in embarrassing position.
Double Check and DEMAND your ITEMIZED RECEIPT. Received a bill that seemed way higher than expected for our 5 drink order for 2 people. Had to request an itemized receipt to see the FRAUD being perpetrated. An item show as $19 (New additions - Rock Hill) on the menu was $30. Further they billed me for 2 baby Jane burbons when we only had one. Truly think with the "largest" whiskey collection comes the risk they just bill you for totally random / incorrect prices / quantity because they are too lazy to check / bartender honesty. Manager had courtesy to check after I complained but claimed "tarriffs". Lost another $20 in missed Uber for manager who needed to "express" himself. Need to educate staff that whiskeys made in KY or NY do not have any tarriffs. Plain fraud + misrepresentation on menu.
