Opinions de Caffe Reggio New York
This is by far the best Italian I have ever had. I have grown up around the restaurant business, have had a variety of fine dining experiences but this place topped them all. If you live in NYC or are visiting, Maestro Pasta is a must. You will leave with a true appreciation for authentic Italian food. It was not just food, it was an experience!
Easily the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Portion sizes were generous. We had a selection of appetizers, pastas, meatballs and deserts. Each one was incredible and was very filling. I cannot recommend this place enough. The food was fresh. The pasta was handmade and amazingly delicious. I will definitely be back.
My son and I walked into Maestro Pasta for a quick bite with no expectations and we were very pleasantly surprised when we were promptly seated at the bar and taken care of in a warm friendly atmosphere like we eat there every night. The surprise of this restaurant is that it is in a very touristy neighborhood, yet it has the feeling like a restaurant you could eat at regularly and always be satisfied/delighted with your food. We had such a nice experience. The menu was full of pleasant surprises and yummy choices. The service was friendly, available, pleasant, and proud of the beautiful food that they were making and serving. I look forward to going back and taking my GF, starting with the artichoke appetizer as a nice prelude to the homemade pasta.
Staff is EXTREMELY kind and informative!!!! The food is FANTASTIC, AUTHENTIC & made to order!!!! They have adorable swings to sit on while enjoying your delightful meal. The staff also makes you feel as though you’re family. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the city!!
Maestro Pasta is everything you hope a classic New York Italian restaurant will be. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is attentive without ever feeling rushed. The pasta is exceptional, made fresh in plain sight, clearly made with care and respect for tradition. Every dish we tried was perfectly balanced, rich in flavor, and thoughtfully prepared. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the pride that goes into the kitchen. I highly recommend the polenta fries to start! It’s the kind of place that reminds you why Italian food done the right way never goes out of style. Whether you’re visiting the city or a local looking for a reliable favorite, Maestro Pasta delivers consistently and beautifully. Highly recommend and absolutely worth returning to.
Maestro Pasta in New York is pure magic — a slice of Italy right in the heart of the city! The hospitality is warm, genuine, and makes you feel instantly at home. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal — come a casa. It was so irresistible that I went back four times in just one week! This place is a must-visit for anyone who loves Italian cuisine.
Wonderful food after hitting the NYC with 2 kids we needed a great homemade meal. The service was friendly and the kids loved the swing benches :) We were cold and starving , fresh homemade pasta hit the spot. Lovely atmosphere, sweet staff with a great sense of humor:)
I had only passed by before, but finally stopped in for dinner on a weekday afternoon. It was impressive to see the handmade pasta being prepared right in front of us. With both table and bar seating, it also feels like a good place to come alone. I ordered the Puttanesca and a glass of white wine, the portion was generous enough that I couldn’t finish and had to take the rest to go. The noodles were a bit thicker than I usually prefer, but overall I really enjoyed the meal.
This place really delivers on both food and vibe. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by the sight of fresh pasta being made right in front of you — the guy working the pasta machine is actually the same one you’ll see in a bunch of their Google photos and videos on Google maps reviews. It’s a fun, unique touch that sets the tone right away. Inside, the atmosphere is warm and cozy with string lights that add a nice glow. The service was genuinely great — super friendly staff who made the whole experience feel welcoming. Now for the coolest part: some of the seats are actually swings. Yep, actual swings hanging from the ceiling. It’s a really fun idea, but heads up — if you want to sit on those, definitely make a reservation. We didn’t, so we ended up at a regular table (still comfy though). As for the food: excellent across the board. The Bolognese was a standout, but honestly, every pasta we tried — red sauces, white sauces, different noodle types — was on point. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Would happily go back — just with a reservation next time so we can snag those swing seats.
If you are looking for an authentic Italian experience, this place is an absolute gem! I have been here a couple of times already, and every visit has been nothing short of amazing. The handmade pasta is truly something special - you can taste the care and craftsmanship in every bite. I am so happy this spot is right next to my workplace, making it easy to stop by more often. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help with recommendations. Whether you are in the mood for pasta, antipasti, or dessert, everything on the menu delivers a true taste of Italy. Highly, highly, highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic, fresh, and delicious Italian food!
I have been coming here for 40 years. And the vibe remains the same. This place captures the village when it was filled with artists and struggling musicians. It looks the exact same as it did then. …
So I heard this was the first time to have cappuccino in US, so wanted to try it out! They actually have an ample amount of seating, especially outdoors, and I really like they close very late!

I finally got to try Caffe Reggio today, ducking in just as it began to pour outside. The moody lighting, art on the walls, and softly playing baroque music makes you feel as though you've stepped …

I like the hot chocolate because it's rich and not sweet, and the American cheesecake is soooooooooo good, nice after hours spot.. I've had a lot of late night smoke and chats at this spot
The reason to come here is to soak in the atmosphere. It is a very laid back cafe. Enjoyed my Irish coffee and Espresso martini. Great way to start a Sunday.

Maestro Pasta is such a cute place. Very small with moderately limited seating, but I was able to walk right in and get a table for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday with no wait. It was so neat to see the pasta being made right in front of you, and the atmosphere is so great. The service was amazing, VERY quick to deliver the meal and drinks, and very friendly. I got an espresso martini which was very delicious (just note, it is more on the expensive side, almost the same price as my meal) but it was amazing. Unfortunately, I felt like my food (Bolognese with fettuccine noodles) was lacking. The portion size was great, definitely MORE than enough food for me (enough for 2 meals), but the taste was not was I was expecting. It was quite bland and underwhelming compared to the environment. Overall, this was a good place to visit and I had a good experience, I just wish my food was a bit more flavorful.
Fried Artichoke hearts was a great starter and the garlic aioli was great. Tiramisu was surprisingly dry but not the worst, not enough coffee flavor. Tartufo with fettuccine was the best pasta dish, Anolini Pasticciati filling was flavorless but the sauce was good. Tartufo focaccia was super filling and tasted great but it was really heavy, I didn’t expect so much cheese and sauce. Atmosphere was amazing, food was good, service was all right.
We were hungry and thirsty while walking down this street, and decided to eat here. Definitely worth it. They hand made their pasta in front of our eyes, and the sauces were creamy, flavorful, and great portions as well. The place is small, but looked like you stepped into a little bit of Italy. Waiters were incredibly friendly and nice, and served with efficiency. Would come here again, definitely worth it.

2 stars because it's a historic place, otherwise the place is musty. Poorly made drinks & basic food. Needs a total refresh & better trained staff.
