Opinions de Senza Gluten New York
Highly recommend making a reservation as they are busy, and for good reason! Despite a full restaurant, the service was perfect. I also highly recommend the GF folks look at the menu before going because you will be delightfully overwhelmed. We ordered the eggplant and aroncini rice balls for appetizers, had one cocktail each, and ordered a bottle of red wine for the table. There was bread service, wine service, and the servers were very knowledgeable and attentive. I had the gnocchi ai funghi, which was superb, and we finished dinner with gelato and tiramisu. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone and returning in the very near future.
My daughter who has Celiac disease was thrilled to try this place. We went to the bakery in the West Village (we didn't even know they have a restaurant in Hell's kitchen). The place is very small but cozy and we were lucky to get a table. Food and service were great. My lasagna was very nice (no the usual dry glutten free one) so much so that my daughter asked me to switch with her and I ended up eating her panino.
Wow! My aunt is gluten free/dairy free and was in town visiting when we came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Lovely setting and interior. The service was great and the food was amazing. Incredibly delicious and the warm bread, this is always where they win me over. So good. Pleasantly surprised and I can't wait to come back again.
Dined here with someone who is a celiac. As someone who does not follow a GF diet, this being one of the best (if not the best) lasagnas I’ve had is a testament to the quality. The meat was caramelized-like and the other layers were browned to perfection. It developed a complex flavor that got better with every bite. I ate way too much in one sitting, but had no regrets. And come on, that plating is the definition of picture perfect. The meal was pricey, even for NYC standards. Inconvenient that they only accept American Express or cash. We ended up taking cash out at an ATM in their basement.
A lovely restaurant. The staff was nice and very professional. They really gave me and my mom a nice experience. The food was excellent. We had the arancini, pear salad, chicken parm, and tiramisu. It was so nice to be able to order anything on the menu and know it would be gluten free and every bit as good as the gluten versions. The bread was so tasty that my mom ate it up while I had stepped away and had to ask for a second basket (and she can eat gluten. It was that good).
THIS IS THIS PLACE… local or not. Do you want to be seen, felt, hungry, and heard?? Well just come here. Are you tired of not having GF chicken parm or GF calamari?? Stop where you’re looking. As someone who has Celiac and Crohn’s.. I was able to have an amazing experience and create fantastic memories with my family. Like when was the last time you had a GF cannoli..? Exactly .. From one IBS struggler to another.. EAT HERE
I had such an amazing anniversary dinner at Senza. Eating authentic Italian food was never something I imagined I could ever do after being diagnosed with celiac disease. It was not only the best gluten free food I have ever eaten but my favorite restaurant of all time now. The atmosphere was perfect, quiet little spot that feels like a slice out of Italy. I cannot wait to return!!! Round of applause, seriously. Thank you so much!!
It’s hard to find Italian fare that is gluten free and still has the taste of all the “classic”—Senza Gluten in the West Village does the job like no one else can! The portions are big (so they are totally shareable), every ingredient is super fresh, most everything is house made and service is friendly and reliable. The outside area is perfect for doing some glamorous people watching while you dine and it has a no rush atmosphere!
To be able to finally experience a restaurant that is 100% gluten free !!! everything was amazing. I was amazed at how safe they were even with not allowing outside food inside!!! My friend and I got the bread basket to share and the bread was SO fluffy and SO delicious!!! My friend got the Caesar salad and I got the chicken parm with spaghetti. My friend said “this is the best caesar salad i’ve ever gotten” and to me personally, that chicken parm was AMAZING! the spaghetti tasted so authentic and SO delicious! I was so so pleased with everything!!!!!! I am so excited to go back but I would love to go to the cafe location as it has paninis I am dying to try!!!!!!!
Finding great gluten-free Italian pasta that doesn’t taste like wood or chalk is quite challenging. However, my experience at Senza Gluten was the best I’ve ever had. The food was outstanding and simply perfect. The pear and pecan salad was absolutely divine, and I haven’t even mentioned how fantastic the cannoli dessert was. This place truly put Rome on notice, and everything is 100% gluten-free. Thank you for making my NYC visit memorable!
One of the best gluten free restaurants in the United States. I am very particular when it comes to restaurants, and I was blown away by the quality food provided. It is decently expensive, but well worth the cost. Deliciously ripe tomatoes, one of the best Cesar salads, and a great dessert selection. It felt like I was back in Europe with the great food and quality service you would hope to expect. When I come back to New York, I will definitely return to this location.

What isn't to like about this place? The atmosphere is fabulous. Whether inside dining or on the front street, the lighting offers a cozy glow that accentuates the Tuscan style decor and restaurant design. Service was very good, we had a great server, the food came out on time, and plates cleared away efficiently. This was a very well run operation. As for the food, the price point is expensive. Make no doubt about it. However, it tastes almost exactly like the gluten versions it is replacing. The noodles have an excellent texture. For flavor, the bolognese was nothing special, and we wouldn't get it again. But the spaghetti alle vongole and the rigatoni with mushrooms and speck were both delicious. Appetizers, too, were excellent (get the pear salad to share for the table!). I'm a bit conflicted about the price of the whole thing, as someone who is not gluten free but whose partner has a sensitivity. This is obviously an amazing place for anyone who is celiac or has a stronger intolerance. We would come back for a special occasion, if only so I can see the glowing expression on my partner's face when she took that first bite of rigatoni. Another note, Senza only takes American Express and cash, which the server helpfully made clear. There's an atm on site. So bring a debit card or an AMEX.
We love having a gluten free restaurant! The bread here is great and the calamari was top tier but expensive (it’s a big plate but $31..) and the Caesar salad is awesome. Lots of interesting brightly colored cocktails that air on the sweeter side. Quick service in an old school NY vibe. I probably flew too close to the sun and went for the lasagna. I’d skip it for the other great pasta dishes - tasted more like bolognese but it was still good.

I'm celiac so this was a dream BUT they wrap up your leftovers and dropped mine on the floor and was given no compensation. Lost half of my $40 pasta

The atmosphere was, well none as we were outside, our table next to dog poop bag that had been stepped on. The weather didn't help it was cold and windy.. should have some outside heaters under the tables or something. The servers were way too serious. The free bread could have been hot, like most restaurants that serve bread. The Calamari was tasty. The fried cauliflower with cheese was savory. The ravioli was a bit salty and could have had more filling. the sauce lacked texture. The Risotto was nice and creamy and could use a bit more cheese. The spaghetti carbonara could have had a bit more guanciale. I get that Gluten free ingredients are more expensive but for the price it could have been a little better. The fact they only take cash or American Express is odd too..
Just meh. I had high expectations after reading the reviews. Super overpriced for what it is.
The prices were higher than expected for the quality and taste of the food. Unfortunately, it didn't feel worth the cost.
I was extremely excited to try Senza with the restaurant being dedicated to gluten free. However, I was extremely disappointed, the bread for an appetiser was poor quality and dry. The main course …
My daughter and I also have a dairy intolerance. We ordered food without milk products- it was very bland, did not have any spices or much flavor at all, and the chicken was very dry. Way overpriced. We could have cooked a better meal at home. But, the staff was very nice and the atmosphere very warm and welcoming.
