Little Rebel New York Reviews
Food is INCREDIBLE and the espresso martini is so good!! Staff is super sweet and the owner seems like he really knows what he’s doing. Highly recommend a dinner here
Little Rebel is literally one of my favorite bars/restaurants in NYC! It’s a must every time I come to New York. And the fried chicken sandwich is firreeeee!
Love this place. Food / drinks/ ambiance and incredibly friendly staff. Has a beautiful upstairs space that was perfect for a going away party - check it out
My go-to spot for brunch these days! The chicken and waffles are unreal! Also espresso martinis with tequila are top tier.
Such an awesome place. The brunch is amazing and the staff is so friendly!!! My go to drink is Razor Charlie -a must try. Highly recommend!! 10/10
Such a fun spot! Always a go-to for any occasion - food is fantastic, drinks are amazing, vibe is awesome, wish they would open more of these in more neighborhoods!!
Going here for my friends, Matt and Kerry’s joint birthday! Does anyone have tips to maximize stoke level so I can plan accordingly? Context: Sausage links are my favorite breakfast meat.
This place has a very cozy atmosphere. It's perfect for a casual first date.
Little Rebel is one of my favorite spots!! Great cocktails and fun atmosphere. One of my regular stops with friends!
Went here for the first time for some after dinner drinks late on a Tuesday night and was shocked to see the place empty. I was surprised because the drinks were awesome, the space was fresh and it was a great set up. Our bartender Travis was super friendly and made us some great drinks as well. Can’t wait to return for drinks and even some food!
My new favorite go to restaurant and bar! There is nothing better than the decor and the fun staff. I love the Escobar drink and the buffalo chicken spring rolls! Perfect spot for dinner with girlfriends or date night drinks.
Pretty cool place. Good drinks, excellent service. Aaron the bartender was very helpful and friendly. Fun happy hour. Recommended!!!
Loved ducking in here to avoid the rain! Sat in the window and watched the world go by. Great atmosphere, music, drinks were fire (especially the rebel toddy) and Olivia is AWESOME!! Thank you!!
Great neighborhood bar and restaurant! Food is so good and love the vibe. Owners are sooooo nice too. Love meeting friends here but also eat at bar by myself a lot (hate to cook) because the owners and bartender are great company.
This is the perfect place for any sized group. It is spacious and the ambiance is great! Really good food and drinks. Loved the truffle fries and Brussels sprouts!
The food and service were fantastic. Great atmosphere. The manager was willing to refund me my money when I was disgruntled with my bill, which spoke volumes on their integrity and customer service.
We stopped in for a drink while vintage shopping in the East Village and I'm so glad we did. The bartenders make you feel right at home. And they pour an outstanding pint of Guinness!!
Came here on a Saturday night with a big group of a friends and had the BEST time. Drinks are fire and the bartenders were super attentive. Love the decor too. The vibes are immaculate
Really great neighborhood spot. I’ve been a couple times and couldn’t recommend it more. Great place, friendly staff, creative drinks, very good food. Still relatively new so get in quick before the hordes come. I have a feeling word will get out about this place pretty soon.
Never a bad time at Little Rebel!!! I love that I can go here for any sort of night. Best espresso martini in NYC and I dream about the buffalo chicken spring rolls.
Great drinks (NYC prices) and friendly bartenders. It was my first night out in NYC and they made me feel at home. Love this place.
All around great spot. Atmosphere, drinks, food, and service are all fantastic. In a city with so many options, Little Rebel is one that I love coming back to over and over again
Came here for a friend birthday. Who had rented the private area. Great service very nice staff. Cleanly, attentive. We had a really great time.
I had the best time celebrating a friends bday here!! Staff and food was exceptional, get the wings. Also loved the decor it was perfect for a girls night
Such a Cute spot for dinner and drinks! Went with girlfriends, amazing cocktails, salad and fries. Cool ambiance, good music and old movies playing on the tvs. Can’t wait to go back!
Food menu is incredible. Very diverse cocktail list enhances the brunch offering. Beautiful decor. Staff is very friendly as well!
Great cocktails, every server was so nice and the hostess as well! We got good wings here as well
Savage food excellent service brilliant atmosphere whether your eating drinking or partying Also they say Guinness doesn’t travel well. It had a fine trip to this bar 👍 one of the nicest pints I’ve had outside of ireland 🍺🍺🍺👍😊😊
I went to a friend’s bday party here and it was such a blast. Our bartender Liv was such a highlight! She made the most delicious drinks and was such a wonderful vibe to add to the party. We’ll definitely be coming back
Popped in on a date night while walking by and didn't know what to expect. The atmosphere was so chill and welcoming and the bartender CRUSHED my mocktail. We asked if the fries were hand cut and they were fresh and delicious. The music was at just the right level too.. everything was perfect!! Thanks!!
I’ve been to this cute little spot twice and absolutely loved both visits. The vibes are great and staff are so kind and friendly! The espresso martini is delicious also surprisingly strong! They definitely don’t skimp on the pour. All the food I’ve tried is amazing- mac and cheese and Buffalo chicken spring rolls are favorites. Can’t wait to come back and eat my way through the rest of the menu!!
5 stars all around. Such a fun spot with really fantastic food (try the breakfast nachos and the brunch punch) and perfect service. Olivia was exceptional. It's clear the people here really want their guests to have a great experience. I'll be back very soon!
Stopped by for a quick drink/bite before catching a film nearby. Excellent veggie burger and superb cocktails. Matt was an amazing menu guide and we became immediate besties. Vibe was so good that we came back after the movie!
My friend left her purse and we returned an hour later and the bartender was holding it for her. Excellent service, great drinks and good food. But you can't put a value on honesty and being genuine. Little Rebel will always have a place in our hearts. We will back next weekend!
I just visited this amazing Bar/Restaurant. The Server Olivia R was really Friendly, Kind, Helpful and made the dining experience so enjoyable. A beautiful spot for Lunch or Dinner. I love the Vibe and will definitely come back. Thanks Olivia for your lovely Service.
What can I say about this bar!!! Fantastic experience. Atmosphere is great and the bar staff and the managers are very attentive to customers and nothing is to much trouble. Drinks priced well...Guinness is brilliant and the wine is the best I've had in new York. Recommend this place to anyone... make sure you visit... you won't be disappointed.
I have been to the Little Rebel several times and it always delivers a great experience. The food and the drinks are fantastic and the staff always makes you feel special. The upstairs room is one of the more unique bars in the City. I recommend the The Little Rebel to my friends that come to New York and I always get the same response, "That place is Awesome!"
Little Rebel is a fun East village venue. Warm on a cold night. Conversation starting decor. Friendly staff. Liv took good care of us
Drinks are great, food is out of this world and the service is on point. Friendly and fun atmosphere. Upstairs has an even more elegant vibe with two stunning chandeliers. Perfect place to bring friends for a few rounds of exquisite cocktails and pints or the perfect destination for brunch or dinner. Can’t wait to come back!
Ive been for both brunch and dinner and was very impressed by both! The kale ceaser salad and French toast have my heart. The cocktails were fabulous. I’d definitely recommend the espresso martini with tequila or the Charlie’s angels if you’re into drinks with a lil glitter. The staff is really what makes me keep coming back, the coolest group of people hands down
This place does not disappoint in the slightest. Staff and the owners are very friendly and keep the place running smoothly. The food is IMMACULATE! There’s a lot of time, cared and love put into these dishes that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Definitely good if you intent on having a full day/night of drinking. Personal favorites are the Bacon burger (that has a bacon jam on it, whoa) and the maple wings. Can not recommend this place enough to people.
Little Rebel is a new bar in the East Village that is serving a variety of adult beverages and has a kitchen cooking up comfort foods from small bites to big mains. the upbeat bar has relaxed retro vibe to it that pays homage to “rebels” of the screen, music, and beyond. there are several tables arranged outside on the sidewalk patio, front window seating, and then a ton of seating that stretches from the bar to the back of the interior. it has that bar charm without trying to be cool or trendy. stopped by here for lunch, recently. didn’t partake of booze —there is a signature cocktails menu as well as frozen drinks, draft beers, and a small wine list. what i did try was the massive fried chicken sandwich and the basket of legit French fries, and both do not disappoint. this breaded chicken, candied bacon, and fresh slaw sandwiched between a brioche bun makes for the fried calories you want to eat. the flavors of the sandwich really hit all those comfort food note like the candied bacon! the textures from the crunch of the fried chicken to the softness off the brioche bun to the crispness of the slaw make for a deliciously filling meal on its own. forget about the fast food nonsense, treat yourself to real food. fried chicken sandwich + fries: $15 these might be some of the best fries being fried in NYC. bold claim? nah. the French fries are seriously amazing. the fries have that glorious right-of-the-fryer scent that hits you immediately. the fries are served hot and apparently are deep-fried in beef tallow (maybe even double-fried?) which elevates the fries to an insane level of crispiness while imparting the rich level of buttery fatty flavor with no greasiness. the fries balance the crunchy exterior with an equally the pillowy soft hot inside. the fries, themselves, are seasoned well with enough flavor that you can eat them plain, but why do that when you can amp it up by dunking it in some Heinz. the fries are served neatly in a copper colored basket which adds to the visual aesthetic of the French fries. it’s a classy touch which people may not acknowledge but do appreciate. if you love French fries, live your best life with these fried carbs. i got a glass of sprite — $4 ouch. i should have just gotten a beer lol the service was quick and friendly. i was there midday during the week so it wasn’t too busy. also note, that like many restaurants in NYC—you do get hit with the credit convenience charge if you’re paying with plastic…you can save a little with cash. drops mic cuz “Rebel Rebel” i out zzz
We did my husband's birthday here on Sunday (NYC Trivia League hosts trivia nights on Sundays at 7 pm) - and they happily accommodated our group of 25! Good drinks, good service, good food, good vibes. We were all happy! Dermot was super easy to work with over email, and I would recommend this place for a large group.
Planned an event here for about 20 people and everything was done perfectly! Dermot coordinated the whole evening and did a fantastic job. Everything was on schedule, the food was delicious, and the drinks and vibes set the tone for the evening. I had a cake and decor delivered earlier in the day and the staff made sure everything was set up correctly, which I appreciated since the event was a surprise. I didn’t have to lift a finger. The bar got very packed around 10:30 which worked out for us timing wise. We had plenty of time to catch up with friends in a designated place. I researched a ton of spots in the EV, LES, WV area and Little Rebel was the most accommodating, flexible, and reasonable. Highly recommend it for any event.
Killer cocktails, delicious brunch options & chill vibes at this clever hooligan’s hideaway, half Palm Springs watering hole, half Victorian dive bar. Just east of Union Square, surrounded by drab NYU frat bars, Little Rebel feels like an oasis. Classic 80s flicks like Twins and Rocky play on the TVs in the lounge area. Celebrity mugshots on the wall make perfect conversation starters. Even the bathrooms are playful, covered in pink lemur wallpaper with a communal sink. Upstairs, the architecture goes full Elizabethan chic, with classical crown moulding and two giant crystal chandeliers, leading to the second-story wrought iron dining terrace overlooking 2nd Ave. Highly recommend the Charlie’s Angel or Escobar martini to start, but the gem of the place is the food menu. From chicken & waffle cones, to thick-cut french fries, everything bagel wings, tuna tartare and steak frites. Nothing wrong with a little rebelliousness now and then.
Liv and Ben make the best drinks. Always busy, but they will get to you immediately. Chat you up a storm
This bar is awesome. Cool bartenders, fun vibe, and great drinks. I got the cocktail of the week for only $7 and the marg was a perfect balance of jalapeño, cucumber and cilantro. Shoutout to who creates the drink menu, every one I tried was fantastic and I will be back!! The 19th century ambiance meets famous mugshots is so campy and fun. Also highly recommend the truffle fries and brussel sprouts as bar snacks!
Great spot for groups! We came with a party of eight and got a big table right away. Everyone loved their food, and our waitress was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made the night easy. The atmosphere was lively without being too loud. I’d definitely come back, especially to grab a seat up at the bar next time.
Went to a private party here and they had water readily available the entire time in carafes and cups and it was absolutely delicious. With that being said, I’m still giving it five stars, but ice would’ve been nice. This water though tasted better than Evian. Evian low key is not even that good.
I hosted my birthday party here recently and it was excellent! Dermot and his staff were extremely professional and on top of everything leading up to and the night of the party. The private area upstairs was spacious, the food was delicious, the DJs played great music, and the pricing was very reasonable. I’d highly recommend Little Rebel for your private party!
I stumbled across the place while I was looking to watch the Super Bowl! I am so glad I did. The vibe is fun, welcoming and trendy! The oysters were amazing and the beers were cold, fresh and very affordable—$8! The bartenders Liz and Aaron were super friendly and delivered terrific service! I highly recommend the Little Rebel —oh and apparently they host Trivia night on Saturday—this place is a must stop to enjoy yourself! Have a drink and relax I promise you it’s well worth it! Ohhh, and I cannot forget to mention the patrons they are pretty cool as well!!
My family was looking for a cozy place to have a celebration for my son’s PhD party. We had about 35-40 people weaving in and out throughout the night in a semi private room upstairs. Dermot made the whole process easy and smooth, and worked with our needs. Everything flowed so well. The food was absolutely delicious. I have to make mention to how great the brussel sprouts and sliders were. Drinks were great as well. My son’s friends all had a great time! Will definitely return to have brunch or dinner as their menu looks amazing.
Loved this place. The outside has a balcony. Inside is a nice space with 2 floors. Around the inside you have pics, that resemble mug shots, of different celebrities. Their Happy Hour starts early and they have good deals. I had the Rebel Margarita for $8 and A well shot and Draft for $8. I ate the Short Rib Croquetes which were 😋. The Sauce on the side was also very tasty. The bartender, Olivia, was very nice. The service here is very good. I will definitely come back.
I’ll be honest with you, I would never ever go there if not my job 😅 But I have to say for the bar in East Village - this place is really great. Service is friendly and quick, food is delicious- tried burger, tuna tar tar, arugula with shrimps, cocktails are cool. I would say unexpectedly good! Also, they have such a stunning party space on second floor! Just wow! I love it. It’s ok design, feels like 19th century! Definitely recommend to stop by if you are around! P.s. they also have TV’s to watch sport 😍
Great brunch. What an interesting design to this place. The upstairs has beautiful high ceiling. The back room looks to have been an apartment at some point. Just a really nice feel to this place. Service was super.
Went here for brunch and the had the whole place to ourselves. Ambiance is cute with an upstairs and downstairs, bars at each. Great brunch specials - $20 carafes of mimosa, Bellini, or margarita and made well. For food we got breakfast nachos. Chicken and waffle sandwich, and eggs Benedict. All were pretty good but nothing exceptional.
The vibe was really great and the service was good. The playlist was also really good, but my only complaint was that the speakers were above every booth and super blown out so the sound was scratchy. If anyone from the bar sees this hope you can change your speaker system soon! Otherwise loved it here! Drinks are also reasonably priced.
I came here with a lot of friends around 11pm on a Friday night. There were a lot of us, to the extent that we kinda overwhelmed the barstaff. A lot of us waited for a while to get the chance to order. When we finally did, there weren't many seats available. Still, the drinks were good and we did have a good night. That being said, I think next time we would reconsider the context of our group before coming here again. It seems like a fun place, with a fun theme, for a couple of people.
Nice addition to the neighborhood (surrounded by similar bars which I think is a great feature of the place; makes for a very easy night out). I'd go for drinks over food (the food is solid, but I definitely enjoy the cocktails/beer more). Service is always great and friendly. Literally the only reason this isn't a 5-star review is (and I know this sounds lame), but the music gets unbearably loud once it gets a little bit packed. Such a great place to hang out, but it gets so loud that we end up leaving basically any time the crowd picks up. Otherwise, absolutely recommend!
Stopped by this cute spot for drinks! We came at prime brunch hour (just after noon on a Saturday) and there were plenty of tables open. I absolutely loved the Winslet ($14), which was essentially a spiked peppermint hot chocolate. The electric koolaid ($14) was also refreshing and sweet. The beetlejuice ($14) is super unique (would be great for Halloween!) but too sour for me. They also have "rebel juice" which they serve in shot format, and it was fun to try. The place has fun, eclectic vibes and isn't very loud. This would be a great spot to grab brunch, or even just drinks, with friends!
Buddha bowl for lunch was fresh and filling but a bit greasy. $15 + tax + tip. Very pleasant bar tender took the order and within 15 minutes it was ready to go. Thank you!
Edit: came back and got a burger. Happiness! It’s very loud in here though, not great for having conversation with a group. Amended rating from 3 stars to 4 First visit: The burgers are the way to go here. I came with a group of 8 and I was the only one who deviated and got the vegan pot pie. Everyone else got fried chicken sandwiches or beef or vegan burgers. I was the only one not happy with my food. Don’t be like me. Get a burger. The ambiance is cool and the food came out pretty quickly.
Cosy little bar with a pleasant atmosphere , good music and a great selection of drinks and cocktails. We had a short but memorable time here in the evening while it was drizzling outside. The bartender has a few cocktails that are must try. Food is great to . If you'd like a calm and cosy place to nurse your drink with music in the background you really must visit here .
Stopped in here for a cocktail on a Saturday night and it wasn’t too crowded which we appreciated at the time. The ambiance was my favorite part of the bar. Really enjoyed the mellow purple/pink lighting and the overall style, decorations and set up of the place. Really long bar and plenty of space. The cocktail was pretty good as well but pricey as a trade off. Tried the Razor Charlie off the bartenders recommendation. It was not overly spicy and the flavors mixed together well but it was a litle creative for my taste. Service was prettt slow considering there wasn’t too many people there. Bartenders were chatting with friends a lot. Otherwise, had a good experience. If you’re looking for a more lowkey, intimate bar in the area then this is a good spot to check out.
Amazing brunch!! Bottomless lager/margs/mimosas and well priced brunch entrees. I love the hangover biscuit. The bar upstairs is gorgeous but it isn’t always open - downstairs is a little dark and basement-esk. Service is hit or miss, when its slow they’ve always been great helping to pick out food/drinks etc, at busier times they (understandably) don’t take as much time to help with ordering, check in, etc. Still a great deal with top notch drinks and good food!
Was excited to visit here and the vibe and decor didn't disappoint but unfortunately, the food did. Had the steak and fries and the steak was was too chewy, very small and not the greatest flavor. The fries were big regular fries and the looked like a mountain next to the itty bitty steak. The drinks too. Had the electric kool aid and the vodka was very overpowering, not very refreshing as told it would be. It's not the worst food but it's definitely not the greatest. Hopefully it was a fluke. The vibe and service was awesome enough to give it another shot for sure.
We came for brunch- it’s a great space! Great music, great service, great ambiance, and outdoor spaces- sadly the food was sub par. We ordered the hangover biscuit and the rebel breakfast and they came out looking exactly the same… reminds me of what you get at an airport. 😬 Maybe we’ll come back just for drinks 🤷♀️
Service is fine, and atmosphere is cool with the low lighting. I’d come back here for drinks only. 3 stars because the salads were very underwhelming, the romaine wasn’t even cut (I am aware that it’s considered “traditional” to be served that way), and a little cheap on the dressing and croutons. Didn’t feel worth $14.
My wife and I came here with a friend on a Thursday evening, and were fairly disappointed. The vibe is cool and seems like it would be a good spot to hang out, but the service was extremely slow and the food was deeply disappointing. We got a number of small plates and found them all to be quite bland. I ordered a drink that never came, and all in all, it took over an hour to get all our dishes from the kitchen. If you're looking to be impressed, I'd keep looking.
Owner rushed us to decide/ start our bottomless and when we tried to put in our last order they said they forgot to remind us it ended 10 minutes ago even though they said it starts when we start drinking but they went off the time we were seated/ reso time. Food was mid drinks were mid on and off bottomless menu. A good place to go if you have no other options for last minute brunch plans.
Not a very enjoyable location. Customer service was disappointing.
Maybe the worst experience I have ever had in a bar. Hostess was awesome and very warm and welcoming, however, one of the owners (not sure who) might be one of the most confrontational and condescending people I have ever met. Literally chased my friend and I downstairs to berate us about not having a wristband and being in the wrong area. We were in the bar for under 1 minute and started trying to antagonize us. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place to any of my clients and we will not be back. Save yourself!
What can I say? I've never been to a worse establishment. While the servers were kind, what little we saw of the management was simply rude and degrading. If I could give zero stars I would. Will not be returning. Definitely encourage you to skip it.
During an nyc heatwave of consistent 95+ degree days the door of left open. The place is also that hot making it very unpleasant and counterintuitive to beating the heat indoors for a happy hour. I feel badly for the employees. I asked why the door was open (also against the law in nyc) and the unfortunate person behind the door at said “because i have to”. We left and won’t return until winter. Management needs to get their priorities together when customers have legitimate complaints.
really bad service during Sunday trivia, one of the waitresses had a shockingly sour attitude with our gift card
I’d give no stars if possible. I went for an end of the year party. Also, we had a happy hour here in the spring and it was the same rude, nasty service from owners and bartenders. I’m a teacher. I get very few perks with my job. There were a lot of us and two bartenders. Naturally people wanted mixed drinks. The bartenders rolled their eyes and told us we could only order certain things and were complaining to each other loud enough for us all to hear. Then when I went to speak to him to say thank you so much, we really appreciate all you’ve done for us knowing they were working hard. He said I’ve disassociated from all of this but we like tips, in a very sarcastic way. I told him they had been really rude to us and it was totally unnecessary and he offered to buy me a shot. I declined.
Would give 5 stars for service. The waitress we had was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. However, the food is basically inedible. Cocktails are extremely inconsistent. Ordered an electric koolaid as did my partner, and they were two completely different colors. Just another place that tries to appear to be "cool" but severely lacks the things needed to be a mainstay. I won't be back.
Music way too loud can't hear shit. Steak sandwich was burnt when asked for medium rare, also forgot Chipotle mayo. I think every component of it was burnt. Little rebel burger dry as hell. Wagyu croquettes and duck empanada flavorless. Drinks okay.
Rotten meat on the charcuterie board, served with your “gourmet” choice of cheddar, American cheese, and a few shriveled grapes. Fancy. The “Wagyu” croquettes were dry, overcooked, and tasted like leftovers. Tables were wobbly and sticky. Our waiter dipped a receipt into my partner’s drink while handing it over. The bathrooms are mixed gender and smell like urine, with floors to match. For these prices, it’s insulting. I hoped the cocktails would save the night but nope. I really tried to like something here. I couldn’t.
IM SUPER DISAPPOINTED BY THE SHEER LACK OF CLEANLINESS OF THIS PLACE!!! I went to little rebel expecting a good time with some drinks(which took 40 minutes to get to my table) and a literal cockroach ran across my table and out of pure disgust I complained and left. When I complained the manager didn’t seem to care and tried to joke it off. Never coming back here again and would recommend to anyone else not to go to little rebel cause it is disgusting overall.
I’m not one to typically leave bad reviews but zero stars if I could. Had a 5:30pm reservation for 3 on a Saturday. Was never told there was a 2 hour limit for table reservations. At 7:22pm some asian woman (not sure if she was a manager or hostess or what as she was not the person who had been serving me and my friends during our time there) came to our table and said there was a 7:30pm reservation for the table we were seated at. My friend said no problem we would close out the check. Some other woman came by our table (again not sure who she was as she also was not the woman who had tended to us during the night) and we asked for the check. She went to retrieve it and again the asian woman (by the way I am asian this isn’t a racist or micro-aggression fueled rant) in less than a 10 minute period came over to us again saying there was a reservation booked for the table we were sitting at. Meanwhile there was a table next to us completely empty and when i asked the woman who brought us our check about it she said oh there was a reservation for that table but they came and said they had to leave. Meanwhile me and my friends had been ordering food and refills of our drinks the entire time we were seated. Long story short waaaaaay better bars and restaurants to dine at in the area that will not kick you out while you are still enjoying yourself and spending money at their establishment. But based on other reviews seems like the only way to get respect and hospitality at this establishment is to book large parties. Save yourself the time and trouble music too loud, drinks and food aren’t that great and hospitality is nonexistent.
I sat down at the bar with a friend on a Tuesday night. Since it was election night, we politely asked if one of the TVs could be switched from sports to the news. A very nice employee put on C-SPAN—but just as we were about to order, the manager came over and turned it off. We were told it was policy not to show the news. That seems ridiculous—especially in New York City, on an important election night. Pathetic and sad to show such cowardice by banning the news in a public bar, when you can watch it in any airport, bodega, or doctor’s office in the city. We left and won’t be going back.
