MakiMaki New York Reviews
September 2025: Stumbled upon this sushi place while walking around. I grabbed food to go for two nights and was very pleased both times. I thought the fish was good... Especially for a small place like this. Would definitely come back again for more delicious sushi 🍣.
I had such a wonderful experience here! The food tasted fresh and the store was spotless! Definitely coming back with a group of friends
My daughter and I are in love with this spot. The customer service was lovely—they even remembered us when we came back two days later and were so kind. It’s such a cute little addition to the area.
Hospitality isn't just food, service, atmosphere; but the pleasing to the eyes employees and their esteemed clients that loyal frequents the eatery. As self-absorbed and repetitive this may read I don't just go for the food but to politely gawk.
The place is very clean, well lit and very inviting, Gabriel gave us the best experience, very sweet attentive and kind. Highly recommend a visit even if it’s for a single roll of their very fresh tasting sushi. It definitely made my Monday feel great 👍
I love this little lunch spot and their hand rolls. The idea is so cute and makes eating sushi rolls a different experience. Not to mention they have free lollipops for Valentine’s Day.
This spot was sooo good. Super fresh sushi and the hand roll was legit perfect — Chill vibes, nice people, and everything came out quick. Definitely a new go-to for me.
This sushi house is literally the best sushi house ever. I literally drive from Long Island to come here to just have sushi every time I find myself in the city. I can’t go nowhere. I’m drown to this place and it’s amazing. The staff is kind and welcoming the environment is so nice. I absolutely love everything about this place.you will enjoy it with friends and family. Amazing food
Delicious sushi and really kind staff! We shared salmon avocado roll, yellowtail scallion, tuna cucumber, lobster, crab, and mango rolls, and a spicy tuna hand roll. The fish was really fresh and delicious, and we were surprised how much we enjoyed the mango roll too. The people working there were really friendly and ensured we had a positive experience. We will definitely be back. Thank you!s
A great place for a handroll after checking out Color Factory down the street. Soo delicious and fresh for a sushi chain. Really reasonable prices for NYC. Staff were really kind and place was spotless and clean.
I always come to the maki maki chain for local sushi and it’s my favorite! I received the best service from binta and my food was made with care and love because it was amazing. My favorite location!
I’ve been coming here faithfully for about three months and the staff has been incredible. They know my order they get everything right and the food is really good for the price.
The sushi was really fresh and delicious! Everything tasted great, and the staff were super nice. The place was clean and comfortable too. I’ll definitely come back again!
My uber order picked the wrong location and Kay (Hudson st location) was super kind and remade the order for me! Excellent customer service!! Thank you Kay! 🙏🏾
I eat here every day. The sushi is fresh and the service is awesome especially Kay he should get a promotion! - Logan
The sushi was super fresh and the service was excellent! I definitely recommend coming here
Stopped in here on my lunch break for the first time and was thoroughly pleased. The food was fresh, the ambiance was nice, and happy hour was super affordable. The owner was there and was really kind to me as well as my server Kay. Will def be back!
A lot of sushi places are hit and miss but this spot was very incredible. The staff were very fast and efficient, got my food within a few minutes. Love the music as well, very fun and sometimes anime themed!
Sushi is really fresh and very friendly and competent team. Prices are confident but not higher than you would expect, spicing could be more interesting. They also have high quality sake and made the most of the shop in terms of atmosphere but it is a small takeout place and seating is at the very busy 6av so best to just grab something and enjoy it in Central Park.
After the bike tour in Central Park, we stop in this tiny sushi fancy take away. I took a bowl of grilled salmon. It was perfect. My son got different tipe of onigiri. They were tasty and fresh . The service was quick and really polite and professional. We enjoyed the lunch 😉
I stopped by [Handroll Place Name] recently and it quickly became one of my favorite sushi spots. The concept is simple but so well executed—freshly made handrolls served one by one so you get them at their peak crispness. The nori was perfectly crunchy, the rice seasoned just right, and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. I tried a mix of classics and specialties—tuna, salmon, and a spicy scallop roll that really stood out. Each one was balanced and flavorful without being overly heavy. The pacing was nice too; rolls came out quickly but not all at once, so nothing ever sat around getting soggy. The atmosphere felt casual but elevated, with a sleek bar setup that makes it fun to watch the chefs assemble everything in front of you. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and they were great about explaining the menu to first-timers. Overall, this is a great spot whether you’re looking for a quick, high-quality meal or a place to linger with friends. Prices were fair for the quality, and I’d definitely come back to try more of the seasonal rolls. Highly recommend if you’re craving sushi in a handroll style done right.
This is my go-to spot for hand rolls! The service is always amazing-everyone is super friendly, quick, and efficient. The rolls are fresh every time and taste incredible. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and everything is made with care. Definitely one of the best places for hand rolls!
I’ve been eyeing this place for while now, looking for the right place to try my first ever hand roll. And honestly it did not disappoint. I LOVE sushi and it’s long overdue to not have a hand roll. I went on a rainy day hoping it would be all worth it and it was! I ordered a California Handroll and a Spicy Salmon Handroll with Avocado (🥑 extra$). It was all perfectly proportioned. It did get a little messy with the spicy mayo and soy sauce but definitely delicious. I’m already obsessed!!!! Will be back and definitely recommend going.
The sushi is undoubtedly among the freshest I’ve ever had. The service is always impressively prompt, with a team of exceptionally kind staff. The pristine cleanliness of this place further enhanced the overall experience. I can confidently say that I’ve found my go-to place for delicious sushi. Highly recommended!
Solid sushi spot for a quick lunch that won’t break the bank yet deliver 100% fresh, too quality hand rolls, cut ups and sashimi. The staff is super friendly, service and presentation is superb and the place is immaculate, including outdoor seating and they even have assorted Japanese beverages! Check out the daily specials including my go to which is the salmon bowl (rice covered with a sheet of nori, two salmon fillets avocado slices and eel sauce). It is not on the posted menu so you have to ask for it but I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed. OH! And don’t forget to ask for some mochi ice cream. It is to die for!
Makimaki is a casual handroll and sushi spot with multiple locations. Friendly staff, clean storefront, super speedy service. We received our order within 5 minutes. Perfect grab-and-go for a quick lunch. They really didn’t skimp on fillings — the ingredients were generously packed and extended all the way to the bottom point of the handrolls. The seaweed stayed perfectly crunchy with their unique handroll wrapper. We seamlessly took off the wrapper following the instructions. Make sure to enjoy your handrolls right after taking off the wrapper because it gets soggy fast. - Ikura Handroll $11 🌟🌟 - Yellow Fin Tuna handroll $6.5 - Spicy Tuna handroll $5.75 - Spicy Scallop handroll $5.75 🌟 - Spicy Crab cutup (8pc) $9.95 🌟 - Grilled Salmon Toro cutup (8pc) $10.95 Our favourite was ikura handroll — the ikura added a rich and slightly salty element to the handrolls, while the fresh shiso leaf complemented the rich and briny flavor of the ikura. We regretted not getting two or more ikura handrolls! We enjoyed the spicy crab and felt that it went really well with cutups. Yet in the meantime we also thought the three spicy handrolls and cutup we had weren’t spicy enough and the sauce were overpowering.
Customer service was amazing. Kay was one of the chefs he was amazing. The food was good. I just wanted to be a little bit spicier. I had the combo it came with the soup beans and two sushi Rolls
If you’re looking for something quick that’s not fast food this is your spot, they have daily lunch specials that I didn’t see posted online, one roll and one hand roll, either standard or premium. The sushi was standard overall nothing overly special. I did appreciate how clean the restaurant was and you can see the chefs making the dishes over the counter. They have a few seatings available but it’s more of a grab and go.
This is an NYC’s premier fast-casual sushi bar! 🌆 With three convenient locations across Manhattan, we stepped into the Central Park South spot to explore their tantalizing menu. Here’s what we discovered: 🍣 Made-to-Order Excellence: every roll is crafted with precision and passion. Choose from traditional cut-up maki rolls or opt for the fun and flavorful cone-shaped handrolls (temaki). 🍣 Customization Galore: With a focus on high-quality ingredients, they lets you customize your rolls with additional ingredients or modifications. 🍱 Combo Meals for the Win: We couldn’t resist trying their combo meals. The Combo Meal included three delicious handrolls plus sides, or you can get the other Combo Meal featured two mouthwatering maki rolls paired with sides. From the first bite to the last, they delivers a sushi experience like no other. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or new to the world of maki, this high-tech gem in the heart of NYC is a must-visit!
$40 for 2 rolls (8 small pieces each) and two depressing handrolls it’s not affordable. It felt like a scam going to eat here. The shrimp tempura was not fresh literally felt like eating cardboard. Don’t waste your money here. Go to KazuNori for almost the same price and WAY better quality.
