Perk Kafe New York Reviews
They consistently make a cappuccino on par with the best you'll find in the city. Highly recommended.
This is a little jem with extraordinary coffee, a great vibe and super friendly staff/owners.
For some reason, we feel so good here. My favorite coffee spot
i had the americano here and it came out so good. im very glad that they have raw sugar and simple syrup. i will be coming here often
Amadi is super chill and the coffee here has been really good the first couple times. Excited to come back again
Cozy little coffee shop with a nice and warm staff. They also have a loyalty card program which is super clutch because I pass by there every morning on my way to work.
very homie little coffee joint with big tables to study. solid espresso drinks. friendly staff.
Good thing this place isn't close to my job, I like their cold brew too much and would probably buy it several times a day if it was near my office.
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great coffee. Went here to work on my computer and it was perfect.
Lovely little cafe with damn fine coffee. The selection of iced drinks in the summer is especially appealing.
Cool little coffee shop great for custom drinks and a low-key atmosphere to get work done in a secluded place.
Love it. The only place in the city that has my style of coffee. Not to mention tranquil atmosphere.
Really chill place! Good coffee, super friendly vibe :)
The matcha latte I got from here was surprisingly delightful
The chocolate croissants are the boom! And the pumpkin spice latte gets me in a good mood in the morning.
Very nice staff. Good atmosphere. Vegan options including Oatley milk. :)
Perk is a great neighborhood coffee house with good music but wish it were open past 5p
It's a great all around business. Awesome coffee and food.
I do enjoy this little cafe I love the theme and plants inside. Limited selection of pastries but not too bad. My only issue is the paper straws, I understand the cafe is trying to be eco conscious but they really don’t work and it’s frustrating when they fall apart in your iced drink. They’re better quality then other companies but still fall apart just the same
LOVE this place! It's great coffee and the staff is super friendly. They serve dough donuts too which are delicious. The coffee is stumptown. There's not a lot of seating. Most the tables are European style.
Perk is great. Coffee is great (just don't do an iced mocha, as they use a powder mocha and it doesn't dissolve) and the gluten free cookies are AMAZING, and I don't keep gluten free. I've also had the doughnuts which are good, particularly considering the only decent doughnut shop nearby closed. I've worked on my laptop in Perk as well and it was a little loud, but good vibes and a nice clean, inspiring space.
Super friendly staff, chill vibes
Cute place by the new 2nd Ave Subway stop for an excellent cup of coffee. Just don't gaze at the doughnuts too long or else you'll end up breaking down and buying one. Also, make sure to grab a punch card to eventually earn a free coffee.
Stopped by for a quick coffee… got an amazing flat white. Barista is so nice and definitely loves what he does. 10/10
Awesome coffee shop with great chai and seasonal matcha. Way better than all the starbucks around each corner! Conveniently located right outside the Q train. Store front is on the west side of 2nd ave just north of 96th street.
This place has the best coffee. It’s 2 minutes from my apartment and I can pay with my phone. Course if I get more than coffee the counter guy has to help me find what I ordered in the app!!
Having mixed feelings about sharing how much I love this place because I can still get a table easily. Love the coffee, scones, and music. Staff is extremely nice.
Love this place! Excellent blue bell coffee and excellent donut! Used to be easy to find a seat, a bit harder now. Ransom for success :-)
A great place to grab a coffee and get some work done. The music is slow, not loud, and does not interfere with your focus. Eat a donut while working for some sugar boost.
This is a perfect neighborhood coffee shop right out of the 2nd ave subway. Great service and friendly staff. The coffee is amazing!! I highly recommend them!
I thought my pumpkin spice latte was very sweet and they gladly made another one for me with less syrup! Great afternoon getting work done here.
Barista working at 7AM Wed, July 9th was so kind and friendly. Thank you for your wonderful energy, and the delicious cortado!
A good coffee shop on our Saturday commute to violin lessons and orchestra. The fellow behind the counter is friendly and cheerful. The iced chai is not too sweet and very flavorful and the coffee is just right.
Great little coffee shop. Nice place to study or read on the weekend. The place is well lit, not too loud, and they make a great iced latte, which sets it apart from other shops in the area. Regulars who are there at closing run the chance of a free donut, if any are leftover!
Just had my First Drink from Perk Kafe, An amazing Iced Honey almond Latte! It was delicious and the service was awesome. Cute little place to sit and chit chat and relax. love it that it is just around the corner from my place :) will be getting my latte from there often.
Small cute cafe with everything you might need. Barista is friendly, wifi is good, music is not too loud, lots of light. The drinks are pretty good too.
Love this place! Such a great community vibe! My dog and I go here and all the baristas are so nice! Highly recommend! And the pastries 🥐 are so Parisian 💗!! Plus great coffee!
Chill space, cool employees, great empanadas
Great little coffee shop to relax and work. Friendly baristas and yummy coffee options. The vanilla and lavender lattes are so good. Some of these 1 star reviews are laughable, ridiculous and cringy. A solid spot in the neighborhood.
Just found this place. Super convenient to have a third wave coffee spot between the school zone and uptown. Pretty good pastry, the cappuccino is good for nyc, and the playlist was some ironic kitschy old school funk, hip hop and the like. All in all a pleasant stop, and it's just off the new uptown rich people subway stop.
Great little find!! Coffee was excellent, service was great and the little treats look delicious. Would be a good place to post up, plug in and get some work done. Not a ton of seating space (and not comfy chairs), but lots of outlets and pretty quiet, calm atomsphere.
The baristas are very sweet, and the coffee is excellent. The lattes are superb, the matcha is very good. They also serve huge Dough doughnuts, and some pastries. Atmosphere here is quiet, and there is usually a few open seats. One of my favorite spots!!
I've had to come here to work since my son had half days this week and I needed to be nearby. The space is clean, there is ambient music which may be an issue if you need to make a call, but its not too loud. I had to take a call with a client while Geenie in a Bottle played in the background, which made me anxious but it was fine. Snacks and coffee are great.
Had an ice Americano today , it was good. it seems peaceful in the store. I recommend it .
cute third wave coffee shop without the third wave pretentiousness. for a fairly new coffee shop, the drinks here are SO good. the coffee is AMAZING. and tons of good-looking pastries (vegan and gluten-free options, hello!) I usually get the house drip coffee. at only $2.75, it is not only the cheapest but ALSO the BEST cup of coffee i’ve ever gotten in NYC! so so good. they have matcha, seasonal drinks, and alternative milks (almond, oat, soy, coconut) for $.75/1.00 extra. the shop has a great vibe. sitting here on a sunday, there are plenty of open seats, great sax music playing, and great vibes all around. the baristas are always friendly and quick. such a great shop, if you’re in the neighborhood, come here.
Great little Café at 96th & 2nd by Metropolitan Hospital. Good vibes, nice music and great service. Wifi codes avail of you need to get some work done. Nice selection of patstries and the Barista is so helpful and friendly. Perfect t hang on... to spot for a good cup o Joe! ☕️ 🥐
This my favorite coffee place in all NYC. I just love their coffee and their pastries! They always welcome u with a smile and its warm and nice to just sit there and watch people walk on the 2nd avenue from thieves big windows. They have a free wifi and a restrooms which is not so common in most if the coffeeshops in nyc. Try the latte or the chai latte , also all their pastries are fresh and unique and taste so good, love it
This Is an easy Going And friendly And Quiet café w fast free WiFi. It’s on 97th and 96th on 2nd avenue. They also have a bathroom, which is really nice to have in New York City. There’s also charging stations and tables and chairs. It might be small, but it definitely works. You can enjoy doing your work while having coffee or tea and some bakery stuff. The male staff who worked on Sunday Mother’s Day 5/12/24 was very nice and down to earth. People like him are hard to find in nyc. The drinks and bakery items are good. But it's the staff that makes the place ... hope the owner recognizes how precious this guy is. I’m sorry I didn’t get his name but know that you are a Star in my eyes. They are renovating for 1 week so it’s closed starting Monday 5/13/24.
Coffee is coffee right?! I thought so until I ordered an Americano with the whisky infused beans. I took a sip as I was walking out the door and turned right back around to buy a bag of beans. I am here again today. Dillon was friendly and fantastic and I will be back
hands down my favorite cafe ever! it is the best environment to get work done and each and every worker is so sweet! not a big fan of coffee but love their matcha and teas. they have a great selection of pastries but i love their nutella banana bread. everything was super clean, the music is great, the shop itself is super cozy and warm welcoming.
Coffee was on point! Just wish the space was bigger. There is good seating for the lucky one's though! Great atmosphere!
Solid workspace, good music, and above average coffee. Accepts CUPS app plans (use code uc82p for $10 free). WiFi password: hairbender
I've been going to Perk Kafe for a while now and been enjoying each visit. Small locations but just the environment I need to get work done or kill time.
Really good coffee at times but variable depending on who is the Barista. Lacks consistency. Good enough time persist!
Great coffee, inconsistent service. Leaky cups. My go to when I used to commute anywhere.
Cute and cozy little coffee shop on the East side. But the space is tiny so it's not ideal to work in.
Good coffee buth don't ask for mocha coffee it don't taste nature they used artificial Powder..
I liked this coffee shop. It's small but it has table seating, bench seating, and outlets. The wifi isn't the strongest, so I had to start using my hotspot. I would go back to finish a quick assignment or edit some youtube videos (don't need wifi for that). Service was decent.
Great little coffee shop. A little pricey but I guess that's the neighborhood. Hot chocolate is delicious, even though it's made from a mix. Some seating, for maybe 7-8 people. They have wifi.
Fine coffee here, and pastries are fresh. They have a couple tables for sitting down and getting some work done or studying while you have your coffee. Service was okay.
Decent coffee, I've been there a few times and can't complain. The place feels a bit crammed though which is why I would knock it down a point. It's fine if you are on the go, but not ideal for working
An exceedingly rare UES find: a non-Starbucks Wi-Fi equipped and laptop friendly coffee shop. Space is somewhat limited and air could have been a little stronger, but I’ll definitely keep this in mind for return visits!
Serving Stumptown coffee and Dough donuts and pastries. We tried a cappuccino, but the mint matcha latte seems very popular. The space is small and bright. ~14 seats.
A cute, simple coffee shop with a good cup of drip coffee. Right across from the Q line, it's a solid spot to grab and go. Their drip coffee was delicious and not too hot, so you can enjoy it without a long wait. The service was great, efficient and welcoming.
A Perfectly Adequate Coffee Stop: Perk Cafe Stepping into Perk Cafe provides a perfectly coffee experience. It’s a clean, functional establishment that serves its primary purpose without fanfare, making it a reliable but unexciting spot for a quick caffeine fix. The coffee is regular. I ordered a drip coffee and found it to be completely average—not bad, but certainly not memorable. The flavor was what you'd expect from any run-of-the-mill coffee shop, lacking any distinctive notes or high-quality characteristics that would make you rush back for a second cup. It's perfectly drinkable, but it won't excite a coffee enthusiast. The primary drawback for me was the paucity of food options. There were no cookies, pastries, which is a significant miss for a place where many patrons might want a small treat alongside their beverage. If you're looking for an afternoon pick-me-up or a light breakfast, you'll need to look elsewhere. Overall, Perk Cafe is a very neutral experience. The service was prompt, the atmosphere was generic but comfortable, and the coffee got the job done. It's a place you stop at when you need coffee now, not when you're seeking a unique, high-quality, or memorable cafe visit. Rating: 4/5 Stars Pros: Clean, functional, reliable coffee. Cons: Very limited food/snack options, unremarkable coffee flavor
Above average prices for nearly 15-20 for just a pastry and bottled juice. But hey it’s nyc. Friendly staff, chill spot in a busy area. Can use better lighting.
It was an ok experience, but the guy at the counter really didn't seem happy. He wasn't disrespectful or anything like that, just wasn't really happy, ok coffee though and beautiful art work.
The guy that’s normally there makes great coffees, teas, lattes, etc thought I found a great neighborhood spot aside from frenchys. However I just received a matcha latte with oat milk a woman made that I haven’t seen there before that is ice cold (ordered hot and in a hot cup) that tastes like cold plain oat milk. Not matcha. Disgusting. Regret not tasting it while I was there as it’s garbage now. Needed the pick me up for work so v disappointed.
Good tasting coffee but overpriced ! Also note that the Large coffee just has extra milk ... they only put one shot of coffee either in small or large size if you want extra shot its 1.75$ extra ! So basically I get a large cafe Mocha for 8.50$ without tips !! Also the coffee depends upon whose working ... since I go regularly there are some who make great drinks where other's just pour the chocolate milk over the espresso and done - not worth the price.
It's a chill cafe conveniently off the 96th St stop. The coffee isn't bad. It's the ambience of the place. There's usually not a lot of people who hangout here which is great in a busy intersection. I'm not sure if they have wifi though which probably explains there's not a lot of people who hangout here. It's a better alternative than a bigger coffee chain.
I went here when I was looking for a cafe to work from. For that purpose, it's alright: nice coffee, a fair number of charging points, decent wifi connectivity, a tad noisy sometimes (exacerbated because it's a small-ish space). I don't think I will be going back, but it might be a good alternative for those wfh in the area.
The coffee is very good. I don’t think I’ll go again though. I normally go to this cafe to read my book on weekend morning to relax. And there is this guy, the barista’s friend(?) who comes in and talks very loud and also talks about politics. It’s like he has no awareness that it’s a cafe and other people are trying to enjoy coffee in a quiet place. He would talk at least 1-2hours. Just very annoying. The barista doesn’t do anything but talks very loud back to him. So… I’ll just skip this place if you want a quiet nice environment.
Rude staff on a Sunday morning. Blaming me for messing up my order. Wasn't even a good matcha latte.

The coffee tastes great. I was in a rush to catch the train, and the man at the register picked up on it, which I appreciated. What I did not appreciate was him assuming I worked at the hospital as a nurse. Why a nurse and not a doctor? Comments like this may seem small, but they’re microaggressions — and unfortunately, they happen often. It’s disappointing to encounter them even in a local coffee shop.
The male worker here yelled a completely unprofessional, inappropriate, audible “really?!” when we hit no tip because we were taking coffee out. Completely inappropriate.
I live near and I like having a coffee while I wait for the subway I usually go here but the staff is rude and they have bad attitude, today I went there and surprise same thing. My cappuccino wasn’t even made properly so now I’m done I’ll never come back
Cute place but my latte was basically milk with a hint of espresso. I had trouble drinking it and it didn’t perk me up.
I started visiting this place on 2nd ave and 96th st, around summer 2021 and had a perfect first experience with a very nice guy giving me my coffee, since then I visited several times and stayed there for work, bought several things like pastries, coffee, coke etc and always left a tip as I sat there for hours here and there and liked the atmosphere and want to support small business (plus Starbucks customer service is horrific, and places are dirty), but today I walked in and said Hi and the guy behind the counter looked like he was upset with me, he barely answered questions, he made a face at everything I said or ordered, it was just so nasty to even look at him, he made me feel just yucky and awful to even sit and be at the place and made me feel like I'll never return and instead of starting to work, made me want to write this review. He was dismissive, totally upset, no pleasant, not helpful, not nice, not smiling, just overall I wanted to run away from the place, too bad, because I really think I'll never go back and this corner and area really can use a little nice coffee shop, oh well.
My sister had to use the bathroom and so he stated that it is customers only. I then processed to get something for her and he stated that she was not a customer. Although it is clear that she is with me. Im sure if we were white he would gladly allow her to use it. I will never step foot in that unprofessional establishment again.
i went in today hope to just drink some hot lemon water and the worker refused my request of just hot water. eddie was the one working saying that i have to actually buy something to get a small cup hot water. as a regular costumer coming in almost everyday this was really upsetting and seemed pretty unreasonable. wanting to have me pay for a cup of water.
Two male coworkers joked about throwing ice at a man dancing to music on the sidewalk. One of them then proceeded to say that he had no right to dance to Michael Jackson, the greatest dancer alive. I cannot support an establishment that is tone deaf and mean spirited towards the community.
Never go here! Just spent money on Uber to visit as a tourist and arrived to firstly what just looked like an overly commercialised shop with loads of tourist paraphernalia and very little relaxed friends cafe vibe. This though from the outside. On arriving I walk in the door with my husband and a security guard rudely asked what I’m here for. I said for a coffee at friends cafe. He said closed to the public. I said ok why? He said closed to the public. I said ok when will it open. He said closed to the public. I said ok till when? He said closed to the public. I didn’t get in the door and have never been spoken to so condescendingly and rudely. This is middle of the day Friday. So they don’t care about visitors and on top of that it really just looked like a room full of merchandise so I wouldn’t bother. If you want a relaxing coffee somewhere just go to a local diner.
