Neighborhood delight! This is my go to dinner place for a chill Italian meal. All of the waiters have been here for the past 10+ years and welcome you like family when you come in! The fig gnocchi and chicken martini are my favorites!

The dishes in Luna Rosa were amazing! The staff were very friendly and professional. I did not recall hearing any music, but the atmosphere was already great when we were surrounded with friends and families.

Went here for a birthday meal and was blown away by the food and service. The pasta had the perfect texture with a deep seafood flavour that did not rely on msg or salt. The staff was so gracious to accommodate splitting an appetizer and main with zero complaints. Homely and friendly.

The food quality, the timing, and the staff all stood out. The workers excel; greeting customers cheerfully and accommodating requests with smiles. The restaurant balances warmth with proper hygiene. My culinary journey includes trying their entire selection. I genuinely care about this place's prosperity.

This is my new favorite NYC Italian restaurant. It’s incredible hospitality (which goes over and beyond “service”) makes you feel like family. The food is outstanding. And the restaurant has a wonderful and cosy ambience; and is kept spotless.

Pricey but everyone in this neighborhood is a zillionaire anyway and the dishes were all very tasty. The ricotta cheesecake was great

Very legit Roman restaurant. Strikes a nice balance between upscale and approachable—the ideal place to take your Italian parents after a day at the Met. I particularly enjoyed the carciofo and the red shrimp tagliolini.

We happened upon Sandro’s after walking around the city. We found the food to be fantastic and the service just beyond! Our lunches were delicious, with perfectly dressed salads and wonderful pasta dishes. The waiter and hostess both took care of our every request and created such a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. I am visiting from out of state, but when I return, I will be sure to come back to Sandro’s!

Sandros was recommended to us by the owner of a small vineyard in Frascati outside Rome. Run, don’t walk. This was the most delicious and authentic Italian meal I’ve had since being back from Italy. Cannot wait to come back to try more dishes! We shared the Burrata appetizer, it was perfect. The roasted peppers were delicious and sweet. The balsamic they put on the table was the best I’ve ever had. Then we had the real Milanese and lemon pasta - both were the best versions of each I’ve ever had. Will be back as soon as possible!

Great antipasto choices; must eat their homemade pasta.

At a total loss for words. The food? Unreal. Some of the best pasta I’ve had since Rome — no exaggeration. Then came the Bistecca Fiorentina… and wow. Like butter, baby. My only gripe to my wife? The usual UES scene — hedge fund bros and facelift warriors everywhere. But honestly, who cares? When the food hits like that, the crowd just fades into the background.

Great service and authentic Italian food. When we were seated, they immediately brought out bruschetta, bread, and breadsticks, a thoughtful touch. The salad, cacio e pepe, and wine were all excellent. To top it off, we were brought a warm cookie before heading out. 10/10 recommend.

Excellent food and service. Delicious seasonal Italian food at a fair price. Had a tasty affogato for dessert!

We came here on a Sunday evening close to closing and they were very sweet and happy to seat us. Ambiance: The bar area is really nice. They have done a great job with table set up as well and I love the colored water glasses. Sandro’s is great for big groups, small groups and dates. Service: everyone was very friendly. Our waiter was very helpful on giving us suggestions on what to order based on our preferences. He also gave us advice on whether certain modifications would work with our meal choices. Food: They started us off with complimentary bread and bruschetta. The bruschetta was really yummy. A classic and simple take on bruschetta which was perfectly seasoned. The bread was also nice and soft. As our entree, I got their vodka sauce with house made fettuccini. The pasta felt perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed the sauce with it. The spaghetti pomodoro was also on point. It had the right amount of pasta or sauce ratio and the sauce was really flavorful. Price: we got 4 entrees and 2 glasses of wine and our meal came out to about $50/person. Insta: @TheShahLALand

An authentic Italian delight. I finally had the pleasure of dining here. The food was incredible. It took my back to my trip to Italy. The service and environment is phenomenal. Every dish I had was delightfully fresh and flavorful. I will be returning here. Do yourself a favor and spend the evening here.

We had a great lunch here! The veal flank was meaty and juicy. We also ordered the apple cake with ice cream for dessert, which made my day.

Superb dining experience. We celebrated a special occasion here. The half orders of pasta were sufficient in size and satisfying. The pinot noir was excellent on nose, freshly opened. Pistachio Gelato and grappa paired prefectly.

My mom and I stumbled upon a gem in the heart of New York City: Sandro’s. Nestled conveniently near our event venue, it was the perfect spot for a pre-event lunch. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and courteousness, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable dining experience. As we settled into our seats, we couldn't help but admire the charming ambiance of the restaurant. Soft lighting, rustic décor, and the aroma of freshly baked bread created an inviting atmosphere that immediately put us at ease. Our anticipation grew as we perused the menu, filled with an enticing array of Italian classics. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a delight for the senses. What truly made our experience memorable was the impeccable service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction, making us feel like honored guests from start to finish. As we reluctantly bid farewell to Sandro’s, we knew that this would not be our last visit. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and eager anticipation for our next culinary adventure at this wonderful restaurant. Sandro’s has undoubtedly earned a cherished place on our list of go-to spots in the city, and we cannot wait to return. Grazie mille for a truly unforgettable lunch experience!

My first time at Sandro’s and man this place did not disappoint! I went w my folks for an early 5pm seating on a Friday. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Crowd 9/10 Ambiance 6/10 Food was absolute Italian perfection. I ate the cacio e Pepe because of the reviews. I don’t even really enjoy pasta like this but I reeeeeally had to hold back from shoveling this entire plate into my face. I took the little I had left on my plate and I ate it for breakfast the next day lol Service was so relaxed. They let us take our time, kept an eye on our table when we flagged them and everything was great. The crowd at 86 street was mixed! Young, old, couples, friends and families. I think 81 st may have gotten an older crowd but this was crowd was diverse which was nice. The decor was kind of lacking but if anything is going to come up short, I prefer to be this part. Loved Sandro’s and highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

Cozy restaurant with nice atmosphere and kind service. I tried the gnocchis and they were very tasty.

My favorite pasta dish here is the paccheri with sweet sausage and mushrooms. I also have throroughly enjoy the carbonara, and the calamari with fried shrimp and vegetables is always a great starter. You can't go wrong with any of the desserts either. There was a special once that was a ravioli dish with veal, sage, amaretto, and raisins that my mom is still raving about a year after having it. The only thing I haven't loved here was the riggatoni with eggplant, but only because the menu offers so many other choices that I happen to prefer. I have been here many times and I much prefer this restaurant to the crowded nightmare that is Elios around the corner. The owner here is extremely friendly as well, which is always a nice bonus. It's a long and narrow restaurant but it's very cozy and not at all claustrophobic inside. Great place to have a long lingering meal with friends.

I had the chicken breast with lemon sauce and it was so delicious! I would highly recommend this place even if it’s just to try this dish, it made my taste buds jump!

Solid food. Pasta, burrata, and salmon were great!

Nice quiet place, beautiful bar with great accommodating staff members! Beautiful lentil soup to start with bread on the house, then I ordered the classica arugula salad and the lemon pasta. Salad was amazing but pasta was a bit meh. Just basic. Dessert was wonderful, very delicious pistacho flavor homemade!

Great neighborhood spot. The service is very friendly and they really take care of you. Quiet, an older clientele. But casual. The food is very good. Pastas cooked well. Needed a little more Sauce or flavoring in my opinion.

Unfortunately the TikTok craze is not always right, we found this place online and flew in like a kite. The food was not worth the hype after the first bite, But I do think they have a future that can be bright. The service is excellent, not complaining in that front, And I will not prevent you from going, believe me or not. Apologies if I'm being too blunt, But if you are wanting italian get back on the hunt. The food is average, don't mean to be cruel but the price is what will make you feel like a fool. Much more pricey than expected, not cool. But I guess in the Upper East is the rule.

A fine dining NYC chef recommended this spot to me, so when I was in the area for a holiday party, I decided to stop by for dinner with some friends. Now I have to wonder how high that chef was. This was one of the worst Italian meals I've ever had in the city--which is saying something because this city is full of bland, terrible Italian restaurants. The complimentary lentil soup we began with was probably the only thing I really liked. I should've just stuck with a big bowl of that. Instead, we decided to order a few dishes to share: the Bucatini Amatriciana (overcooked), the Spaghetti Con Vongole (watery and bitter), the Fettucine with White Veal Ragu (decent), and the Gamberi Alla Marinara (not spicy in the least, despite the menu warning otherwise). I do appreciate the complimentary lemon cookies at the end, but I wouldn't venture back here even if all of NYC's Michelin-starred chefs proclaimed it their favorite restaurant. Maybe my palate isn't refined enough? Oh well.

The food was not it here. Spent over $50 pp for small portions and flavorless food. The only good part was the sevice and dessert. Eventually we got kicked out because they had a 2 hour limit.

L

Inedible. I ordered Tonnarelli Fatti in Casa con Trafila do Bronzo al Cacio e Pepe to go, and it was so bad I spit out the first bite and threw away the entire dish. The flavor was so bad that even the smell was off putting, so I sealed the container shut before putting it in the trash so it wouldn’t stick up my whole place. Also, the regular pasta was a weird texture and not properly cooked. The bread that comes on the side was very good but definitely would never eat here again.

I went to Sandro's thinking that I was going to get a real authentic Italian meal by erroneously thinking that the pretentious prices would satisfy my palate. I was wrong. I didn't like eating food which is meant to go into the garbage. I paid $66 for caesar salad, a sparkling water and a chicken that made me nauceous. I left without eating another bite. The good side of the restaurant is that it is a great place to bring guests to drink wine as long as they don't order any food.
