Su Khum Vit 51 New York Reviews
As a Thai person, this place is authentic! Their fried spring rolls is so good. Not greasy like those I had from anywhere else. This time I tried Pad-kee-mao or Drunk stir fried noodles. Very tasty. I got Thai tea as well. The tea smells so good. Really recommend !
Great food with generous portions.
Have eaten a lot of Tom Yum soup in my life but I’ve never heard of Tom Yum rice. We ordered that and loved it. The green tea ice cream was fantastic but look at the size of it - enough for four people. Loved the food and the service. Great prices, too. We sat in their pandemic shed and felt pretty safe.
Stopped in for lunch today. We have been here many times and their lunch specials are really good. Today we had grilled pork chop and Penang Curry off the lunch menu. Each dish comes with an appetizer of your choice. Both really delicious and very good price. Service is very good. Prompt and professional. A really good lunch place even though it is rather small and slightly drafty on very cold days like today. We went again for lunch with an out of town relative. Had another great lunch at a very reasonable price. Back again for lunch with our niece visiting from Calif. we bring all our out of towners here for a great lunch. Delicious as usual. Very good friendly service.
Went in there with my dad on the first day we were in New York. It looked like cozy place to eat and looking at the prices outside, it seemed like a good place to eat. The food was really good and affordable with good portion sizes. I got their lunch deal which is a complimentary appetizer and a main, specifically the thai 51 dumplings (i think) and the penang curry - both were really delicious. Plus, the waitress we had was really nice and helped us with navigating the subway.
This place is great! The food has great taste and they were able to make us extra spicy which is rare because usually when ask for extra spice, it isn’t. You’re given a good sized portion. The place is small but cozy and the servers have a good sense of humor. I highly recommend this place for any meal.
Good Thai spot with fast and attentive service. The food was tasty, nicely presented, and came out quickly. Portions were fair and flavors authentic. The place could improve a little on atmosphere and organization, but overall it was a solid experience and I would definitely come back.
A hidden gem nestled in the vibrant streets of New York City, this Thai restaurant promises a sensory journey of culinary delights. With meticulously crafted dishes like Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai, it offers an authentic taste of Thailand. The ambiance blends modern elegance with traditional charm, welcoming guests into a tranquil oasis away from the city's chaos. It's a sanctuary for food lovers seeking respite.
I have been to this place a few times over the past year or two. I give four stars ONLY because the food is delicious. You can tell that this is as authentic as it gets in the area. The flavors are there and the lunch special price is great. However, the space is TINY. It actually feels like everyone is in each other's conversation, and there is an unspoken pressure to be in and out quickly as others are usually waiting to be seated. Given the size of the place, I think they would be better off connecting all of the tables and serving everyone family style haha. Nevertheless, I will continue stopping by for a bite to eat when I am in the area around lunch time.
We stopped into this little spot just by chance as we were looking for a new place to try for dinner. The flavors are authentic and the service is fast. There is a steady flow of deliveries and take out, which is always a good sign. The space is tight, but we are in NY city, after all. Getting a table was not a problem on a Thursday night. There is also outdoor seating.
I come here a lot and I am disappointed 50% of the time. Once I came to dine-in and ordered curry puffs and half of them were still ice cold. We told them and they just took it and came back with it refried. At least twice I ordered the lunch special and they forgot to give me the appetizer. Another time, I was extremely jet lagged after 24h of travel and ordered basil pork and when I got home I saw they didn’t give me rice. Also, they are NEVER apologetic. It’s a shame because the food is good here, but the small mistakes really add up.
Very disappointed — poor packaging ruined the experience. I’ve been a long-time customer and was excited to order while visiting NYC, expecting the same quality. Unfortunately, most of the food had leaked during delivery — there was barely any curry left. The packaging was careless and completely ruined the meal. Really disappointed, and sadly, I won’t be ordering again.
I usually come to this Thai restaurant for lunch if I’m working in the office as it’s near by. And I rarely left comments unless something really uncomfortable happened in general. Today when I came in as usual, no waiter said hello after like 5 mins even there was only one table was taken in the restaurant. So I asked if I could sit. I ordered and after like 30 seconds I told her actually let me have beef instead of chicken (yeah at the moment she was still at my table). The girl refused immediately saying it was already cooked. I said I literally just ordered it and she replied saying today is busy and the cook in the kitchen won’t make the change. I asked if she could help communicate with the cook then. She didn’t reply and left the table. Around 5 mins later, someone served the chicken drunk noodle on my table, this waitress laughed and said “I told you”. I was so surprised how she treated the customer but didn’t say anything (I already felt uncomfortable communicating with her and don’t want get myself into trouble). While I was having my appetizer (didn’t touch the chicken noodle during the time - P1), someone came, took the chicken drunk noodle, put it on my neighbor’s table, and left without even saying a word. Then in a few mins, they took that from my neighbor’s table again and brought it back to the kitchen. I was shocked and forced myself to ask the waitress what happened. She answered, yeah they served the wrong table and that should be your neighbors’ (which doesn’t explain why they took that to the kitchen from my neighbor’s). And after that she just ignored all my other questions like I didn’t exist. In a few mins, they served me the Chicken Drunk Noodle (yeah still the chicken one) again - P2. I really couldn’t tell if that’s the original one. But I felt so uncomfortable. That’s how they treated their customer - or just me - I really don’t know - maybe because I was a short Asian girl and I’m terrified by their attitude. With that attitude I was afraid they might put something in my food considering the strange behavior (taking foods from my table without explaining anything then serving the same wrong thing few mins later) so I didn’t touch the chicken drunk noodle even I paid for it fully (I asked a different waitress as I was afraid of talking to the original one). Will definitely not come back again.
