Always outstanding service and willing to get my Tika masala just the right level of spicy for me. Not a beer fan but their 1947 and Taj Mahal are both super. We eat here about 4x a year and have never had a bad meal. They were even kind enough to divide our shared ice cream in three for us. Also, the portions are deceptive. Usually we end up bringing some home but if you are really hungry you might be able we to finish everything. Dishes come with rice but we always order 1-2 orders if regular or garlic naan. It's a small place but I've made reservations for 8 before. They are very accommodating.

Phenomenal experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome and we appreciated the time they took to explain of the dishes. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting—and we couldn't help but call out the comfort of the chairs. Silly, I know, but after a long evening of walking and embarking on a hearty meal, a good chair with a nice back goes a long way. The food was truly outstanding. The chicken tikka masala was so tender you could cut it with a fork, and the flavors were spot on. The aloo tikki chaat was a highlight—the sauce was so rich and flavorful that after finishing the delicious potato patties, we asked to keep the plate just so we could soak up every last bit with naan!.And the mango chutney—wow! Sweet but not overpowering, bursting with flavor. Every dish was a delight, and the generous, kind staff made the experience even better. We can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic, delicious New Delhi cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting.

I recently ate at this lovely little treat of a restaurant on Amsterdam Ave, Upper West Side, NYC for my birthday. The food was cooked to a very good standard and had a great atmosphere in the restaurant itself. We liked it's location and would go back anytime in the future, if the opportunity presented itself. Great flavours combined with fresh ingredients made for a great bithday evening meal out for myself and my family!

Absolutely delicious food and amazing service. We were given the lunch special despite it being the weekend (when the special isn’t usually available). Our server was incredibly accommodating and kind. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Definitely coming back, would recommend to anyone

Was so happy to find this place. It’s right next to a vegetarian Indian restaurant, which was the first spot I tried…but I wanted chicken tika masala so bad. This is next door, has such a welcoming atmosphere, and great service. Loved it! Hit the spot.

It’s always a pleasure to have dinner in Swagat. The atmosphere was nice and waiters are friendly. I loved their garden salad and shrimp Marsala. Their salad had a hint of cilantro, and the taste of their Marsala sauce was one of the best that I had so far. I liked how I could still see and distinguish the ingredients in the sauce, which created a wonderful blend of flavors in each bite. Their basmati rice was cooked to perfection. Their lentil soup and chicken dish was great too. The waiters were very friendly. Highly recommend Swagat for anyone who would like to try Indian food. I definitely will return to try more dishes.

First time trying the Sarson ka saag and it was delicious!!! Be warned they had an advertisement for brunch being one appetizer, one entree, and naan… it happens to be what I ordered but advertised at $18 my bill was $53 when I asked about the brunch deal they said it was only for half portions and we got large. I’d hate to see what the small is lol. Oh well the food was delicious and they were nice otherwise. Good cheap meal close to the museum.

Updated review after 1 year: The Shabnam curry ($18 plus tax) and the Lasuni gobi (fried cauliflower, $10), sadly lacked spice, bordering on bland. It was as if it was made specifically for a Westerner’s palate. Original Review: Swagat (“Welcome” in Hindi) has a great brunch special ($18.95 plus tax) which includes your choice of appetizer and entree with basmati rice and naan. The vegetable samosa came with a small side salad. I ordered extra pakora which was excellent. The malai kofta was rich and creamy but could have used more spice. It was a very good meal overall.

I recently visited this restaurant with a friend to celebrate his birthday, our experience was delightful. From the moment we stepped in, the customer service was excellent, and it made our evening even more enjoyable. We started off our meal by ordering the shrimp balchao as an appetizer, which was a fantastic choice. The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced. Our main courses, I opted for the Lamb Vindaloo, while my friend chose the Lamb Rogan with naan. We also ordered a large sparkling water for me and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for him. When the server brought out my lamb vindaloo, they kindly mentioned that it would be spicy. Being a fan of spicy food and having had vindaloo many times before, I was prepared for the heat. However, I found that while the dish wasn't particularly spicy, it was incredibly flavorful. The spices were well-incorporated into the tender lamb, creating a satisfying and enjoyable taste. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, and we appreciated the option of outside seating. It added a touch of relaxation to our dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. The food was tasty, the service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I look forward to returning and trying out other dishes on their menu.

First things first, their naan is one of the best naans from NYC. So soft that it just melted in the mouth. The masala & marinade used for Mutton boti kebab made it quite delicious; but it could have been more softer, would taste best. Curries were a little tangier than required but still were pretty solid. Gobi manchurian and Samosa chat was average. Also, one rice portion served for 2 curries. Pricey comapred to the quantity served. Good service.

The spices and flavors speak to some authentic Indian cuisine. The best part of this small place is their combo meals which are fantastic for the price (appetizer, main). We were in a party of three. The place itself is small and you can miss it walking by, but it’s definitely worth a stop. Good quality and thoughtful presentation

The food was mediocre with quite small portions. The supporting service staff were friendly, but our main server was rude and condescending. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and welcoming. Overall, not worth the price.

Save yourself the disappointment — this is the worst place for Indian food on the planet. This was hands down the worst Indian food experience I’ve ever had. •    The samosas came out greasy with old potatoes inside — tasted stale and unpleasant. •    The vegetable curries were clearly not fresh and had zero flavor. Not spicy, not aromatic, just bland mush. •    For a cuisine that’s supposed to be bursting with flavor, this place managed to serve the most flavorless food imaginable. On top of that, the bill came to $80 for two people, which felt like throwing money away. Total waste.
