Villains Hideout New York Reviews
Small spot but great chai. All drinks here are made with oatmilk - you couldn't really tell the difference! Would recommend.
They make good chai and golden milk that isn't too sweet. I think this place is a lot better than other East Village/LES competitors. I believe they only use oat milk, so if you are a dairy queen, maybe this place is not for you.
This chai is fantastic. Perfect flavor. Chris is really knowledgeable and great to chat to, the entire establishment is really nice to come sit and relax. Really this is a place you should visit if you’re a tea fan.
I really enjoyed the chai here. Also whatever music they were playing in there was also great. If the owner reads this review can you link the playlist?
I cannot believe it's has taken me so long to write a review for the Chai Bar. I've been going back and forth btw NYC and Cali for the last two years, and anytime I'm staying in NYC I go to the Chai Bar. Their Chai is great - rich and flavorful but dont sleep on their other options such as their Earl Gray. The owner of the Bar is extremely knowledge and friendly, so he can direct you as needed. I'm back in NYC for a bit and cannot wait to stop by!
If you’re not paying attention you’ll miss it. I was lucky to see the sign and look below to see a gem of a spot. I’m more of a coffee person so I brought my chai loving friend. We absolutely find the drinks lovely and the space tranquil. The barista (owner?) was stirring the tall pot on the stove when we approached them counter in the back. The menu is limited probably cause everything is made there. I had the earl grey and OG. Smooth and full of flavors. Perfect on a chilly NYC day. The space is simple and zen. Not distracting and quiet so you can have quiet conversations or focus to work. Worth repeating.
Totally a hidden gem that you want a great drink but not necessarily coffee.. amazing tea lattes! The store is stylish and the staff is super nice. ❤️🔥✨✨Nitro chai latte was soooo good! It was smooth with rich spiced flavors. (They ran out of it but I got to taste a little leftover.. definitely going back for this.) ✨☕️chai latte is totally a great option on a cold day. Same, great spiced flavor, warming you up. Orange cookie was neat, housemade style. It crumbled and slightly dry. The staff said it was main to be paired with hot chai latte which I would recommend dip into ur drink.
Stumbled upon this chai spot and was immediately blown away – it’s hands down the best chai I’ve ever had! Incredibly rich & earthy with layers of flavor and depth. The shop itself is cozy with a number of seats available, and the barista was super friendly. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a cup of chai, hang out with friends, or relax with a book.
I was on the hunt for a good chai tea latte during a weekend visit to NYC. The Hideout Chai Bar was by far my most favorite chai tea latte I had of the 3 that I tried - I even went back for a 2nd cup during our visit. The chai isn't overly sweet and it has a good spiced flavor. It tastes like it was made by someone who cares about the quality of their work. The staff was very friendly and the shop has some indoor seating to enjoy your tea. They have other tea lattes on their menu and they make it all with oatmilk so it's a good opinion if you don't do dairy. I would highly recommend coming to the Hideout Chai Bar for chai tea!
VERY good chai. Delicious, in fact. Happened to wander inside and ordered a hot decaf chai with oat milk. The owner was super generous to answer questions. Next time I might try the turmeric / golden milk latte. Quality ingredients and excellent vibe. Run by someone who understands tea and is passionate about making great chai.
I came here one evening for some chai and it wasn't bad! The interior of the chai bar is inviting and there's a good amount of space to sit with friends or do work. The chai here is fragrant and made to order. Staff here was so friendly and easy to talk to.
The chai was fine, but it's certainly not the best in NYC. The spices didn't hit for me. Friendly service, low key space. EDIT: In reply to the owner comment: I was really hoping for a stronger spice profile! It wasn't there for me. I did appreciate that it wasn't overly sweet, though. 😁
This is a decent chai spot, the milk to water blend is reasonable. The masala blend was good but tasted underwhelming. Overall, great spot to hang out, though the music was a bit too loud for my tastes
The inside of this place is really cute and cozy. The service is great and the person behind the counter was really nice. I got the flight, and I’ll say I do think it’s pretty overpriced for the value itself. Maybe I just appreciate more spices, but something just didn’t quite hit for me for the flavors. I will say of all the flavors, the golden milk was really good. Second was earl grey, but nothing I felt was necessarily memorable. I didn’t think the price of the flight was worth it considering that a some time ago the price was $15 and came with an extra chai that was hot.
