Yefsi Estiatorio New York Reviews
Unbelievably good food down to the simplest dishes. Everyone was friendly and kind to my 3 year old son. This may be our new favorite Greek spot on the upper east side.
From first bite to last, quality remains consistent. The dishes are incredible & I can sincerely say everything I've had has been wonderful. People who enjoy nice surroundings will appreciate this place. Complete approval. This place shows impressive attention to detail.
Yummmm. 😊 I had a great evening at @yefsinyc, the best Greek restaurant in the UES! The food was amazing—totally Greek, totally delicious. I could almost hear the Mediterranean waves and the sounds of fishermen beating octopus on the side of their boats. But even more amazing at @yefsiestiatorio is the hospitality. In no time, I was sitting with Katerina, the chef, the owner and his wife. I felt like family… An amazing place, this Yefsi Estiatorio. They don’t just feed you here—they totally take you in.
I absolutely loved this place! The staff were very accommodating to us and were so kind my friend's toddler! They were incredibly sweet and on top of that the food was amazing! We order the Avgolemono soup which was bright, delicious and surprisingly light. I also had the mousaka which was delicious, though very hearty if you want something light. I definitely recommend this place.
Everyday at Yefsi Estiatorio, Chef Katerina Efthymiadou brings to every table food that will make you feel you are in Greece. First order a couple cocktails to get the night started. Next order Yefsi Chips and Stifao, a braised octopus. Dip the eggplant and zucchini chips in the braised octopus sauce for a totally different taste. Since it’s Sarakosti fasting right before Easter, they brought out lagana bread with homemade hummus instead of pita bread. For entrees, try their Greek specialties on their special menu such as Yemista Piperies and Lahanodolmades. Very authentic and delicious. At Yefsi, you will feel like you went over to your Greek friend’s house for dinner. Wow wow wow! A Greek place you want to eat at and can trust! My fiancé is from Greece and we’ve been on the search for something that’s comparable to what we get in Greece and so far THIS spot wins! And this is comparing it to spots in Astoria as well! We opened with the dips which weren’t based with filler potatoes or bread, which we’ve found very common in the states. They taste homemade to me! Everything else following the dips, after knowing that the dips are good was FANTASTIC. Highly recommend the lamb chops they were a delight! I can’t wait to return with family and more friends! ♥️ Servers were so kind and delivered everything timely and at a great pacing. The complaint we had was water refills and when asking for hot water or lemon, it never came. We ended up going to the server station and asking for it after 3 tries of requesting from the table. Went last night and it felt so cozy with the Christmas decorations. 🥹
Came here for dinner. We had the horiatiki salad which is a staple. Made so fresh and tasty. Then the Lavraki ceviche which is made with Branzino. So light and flavorful. And finally the Mousaka. Layered Potatoes, Eggplant and Ground Beef Topped with Bechamel Sauce. Our waitress said this is one of her favorites so we tried it and it did not disappoint. So much so I forgot to take an initial photo! Overall, I would recommend this place!
My husband and I both had a wonderful brunch experience at Yefsi Estiatorio. It is among the best Greek restaurants I’ve been to so far in NYC (including the ones in Astoria). The food is authentic and does not disappoint at all. I tried the Shrimp Santorini while my husband had the Chicken Sandwich (not just any chicken sandwich though! This was Greek style grilled chicken with tzatziki on a pita and Greek style fries with oregano). The mimosas were great and the service was outstanding! The bottomless brunch was a great experience and one day I hope to come here for dinner. Overall, 5 stars and highly recommended!
My company and I visited here with high expectations because we had seen good reviews and quite a crowd when we were passing by. In reality, the restaurant went far beyond our expectation in every manner I can think of. The reception lady who greeted us at the beginning was the embodiment of hospitality. All the servers were friendly and stunningly attentive, making every effort we have nothing missed on our table. Both red and white wines were exceptional and every single food--from the breads and appetizers to our main dishes--was impeccable.
The pikilia spread, horiatiki (Greek salad), bifteki (seasoned patties) and the small dessert platter were all well executed. The interior has been tastefully decorated for the holiday season. The dining area at the back seemed drafty. If you get easily cold, I suggest you get a table up front or around the bar.
The highlight of our meal was the environment! Very vibrant atmosphere with low lighting and lit candles on each table. The staff made sure our water never went below half empty! I think this is the gold standard of service when dining out. The vegetarian and vegan friendly options were FANTASTIC! The one issue is it seemed to lack salt. There also were no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. With this in mind, the texture of the Yefsi chips were perfectly crisp though- like seriously the most crunchy and perfectly textured veggie chips. Lamb chops as pictured were so delicious and the potatoes complimented the dish perfectly.
Yefsi Estiatorio greek restaurant. If your in the neighborhood try Yefsi they serve a wonderful tazeki sauce with pita, also pork soulvaki was wonderful and horitiki salad with grilled octopus was wonderful and tasty had a wonderful balance of spices. Your palette won't be disappointed.
It's a nice Greek restaurant located on the UES. We ordered lamb with rice, pasta with shrimps, and calamari (see pictures). Although I like the lamb, the portions were kinda small. Also, my friend rated her pasta 2 out of 10. Overall, the ambiance is good, but the food quality was not as good as we expected.
Yefsi Estiatorio – Review Yesterday was our first and definitely last visit to Yefsi Estiatorio, and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. The food was mediocre at best — nothing memorable. The alcohol was a complete joke. Charging $25 for a drink that is almost impossible to drink is simply unacceptable and absolutely not worth the price. There was live music last night, and until around 11:30 PM the atmosphere was fun. After that, everything went downhill. People started smoking everywhere inside the restaurant. Not one table — everywhere. This is not only disgusting and disrespectful to guests, it is illegal. We were forced to leave because it became impossible to stay. I literally started choking and could not breathe. I truly do not understand how this is allowed — not only in this restaurant, but in so many Greek restaurants. Where is the Health Department? How can a place openly allow indoor smoking and still operate? What should have been a nice family evening ended in frustration and discomfort. Absolutely unacceptable. We will not be coming back.
I went to treat myself for Valentine's Day just for the lady to tell me it's close. It's 5pm I said no problem and went next door. I wanted to try Greek food I guess not today.
First off the portions are so small it will amaze you..like obviously small. I like the atmosphere but the servers are dead inside and the food taste like it was made in the basement. Just not fresh and with no gloves....you can skip this place
