Zaragoza New York Reviews
One of the best burritos in town! Should always be in your list.
I never bother to go through the effort of leaving a review for anywhere but it is so hard to find amazing Mexican food in the city, let alone something this authentic and delicious. Absolutely phenomenal food, and the sweetest employees. I will definitely be back again and again!!
Best family run restaurant and shop! I would eat there every day if I could… Zaragoza is that delicious! The atmosphere and food are authentic, as is the staff’s warmth and welcoming hospitality. They also have a fantastic selection of Mexican candies, snacks, and ingredients!
Absolutely amazing place, have been returning for years and it’s a staple restaurant for me. By far the best burrito I’ve had in NYC, and I continually travel across boroughs for this place. Reuben and his family are so kind, and the food is absolutely phenomenal. Absolutely recommend to everyone in the area, and will always keep coming back!
My two friends and I dropped in here spontaneously while walking home one night and we had the most wonderful experience. Reuben and his mother were working there and it’s been a family run business for over 25 years. Reuben shared his food with us (literally) and told us lots of stories about the East village over the years. I had a very delicious steak burrito and the three different salsas are so good. Highly recommend coming by here!! Wonderful food and conversation. It felt like we had stopped by a friend’s house!
Probably the best burrito in Manhattan and compared to what’s in SLC. We were visiting from SLC and came across this Mexican market. I wouldn’t say this is a full experience restaurant but a market with a handful of tables where you can enjoy the best burritos out there. Service was excellent. Very accommodating to our 4 people family. They even brought us some sweet bread on the house. Just amazing.
In my opinion the BEST Mexican food in Manhattan. Chips and Guacamole are fresh and authentic. Overall great atmosphere, owners are so friendly and their cat will keep you company while you wait on food. He literally just crawled into my lap and would not get off. Broke my heart having to get him off when my to go order had been ready for 5 minutes. 10/10 recommend
I love how the tortilla here is wrapped in an adorable embroidered cloth! This is a tiny Mexican place inside of a little grocery store. They only have 2-3 tables inside but luckily it was empty when we got there. The food options are so plentiful and I was a bit overwhelmed by the options but I ended up choosing something from the slow cooker that the guy has going on. Spots like these are the reason why I love New York!
This has to be the smallest shop to offer Mexican food and still pull off being a grocery at the same time. I don’t think 6 people can fit in there at once but you should try. This little mom and pop Roa I spot offer a just right selection of tacos, burritos and other Mexican offerings. Not sure the hours but I would suggest hitting this spot on your way home after a night out or on a lazy Sunday.
People always ask me why they should support local businesses and this is why! Zaragoza is a family owned business that survived. The food is amazing and this is what makes NY unique. I hate to go on a rant but the city needs to protect local businesses that have served communities pre-gentrification. ( Yes I said what I said!) These businesses provide residents with authentic meals that are made with care and love! It’s unfortunate that most of them close when they are staples in the community. What I love of about this bodega is that they offer authentic Mexican beverages and snacks as well as a flexible menu! The menu literally changes daily and you can mix and match dishes. On my first visit I ordered meatballs and pernil. Today I ordered goat and beef tongue! When I was a kid I ate what my my prepared, so the menu here definitely reminds me of that. If you live in this area or you are visiting please show this business some love!!! Support the legacy!
The service was impeccable, with such a funny and great guy at the counter. The burrito is massive which we split between two. We got the chorizo and potato with everything which was absolute fire. All around great experience. Coming from Chicago, the Mexican food was definitely comparable and the best I’ve had in NYC yet.
Authentic Mexican food cooked by authentic grandmas. Family owned and run. The late night workers there are so sweet, made us gringos feel like family. Even brought us fresh queso to cool our mouths when we dared to eat their table chili peppers! You hope places like this never close, cuz they’re the grit, heart and soul of New York City.
Best authentic cheap Mexican in the ev! Dank tacos for 3 bucks with rotating list of meats-- classic chipotle chicken and al pastor are always on the menu but I've also enjoyed well prepared meats such as tongue and goat. Also recommend tacos, tamales, any Mexican thing. 8 bucks for a phat burrito too!
