Tin Fish Newburgh Reviews
Whether you’re visiting the area like us or live here, dining @ Tin Fish is a must. The employees were very friendly & as first timers helped answer our menu questions with ease. We ended up order a large fish & chips platter along with a grilled salmon tacos platter. The only slight knock would be having corn tortillas for gluten-free folks would be welcomed as the coconut flour ones available fell apart very easily. Beyond that, the food was excellent. You can tell they’re using fresh, quality fish and everything was cooked + seasoned extremely well. Prices aren’t cheap, but for the quality & portion sizes, the value is still there. I’d 100% return anytime I’m in the area ✌🏻
Favorite restaurant from Newburgh. As a kid we would set off on a walk starting around Sharon Elementary and working out way through the neighborhoods until we found our way to the river. Never the same route. Always a blast. The tin fish has since moved to a more updated location, but it still has the same care and charm. Highly recommended.
The fish tacos were delicious! Seasoned perfectly with a very nice portion. The staff was eager to help and made sure our drinks were full and everything was as we desired. Food arrived to the table quickly. Very solid place, Tin Fish!!! We will definitely return. Hopefully, sooner than later.
This is my first time experience coming to eat here with my sister and her family. I ordered their mixed seafood grill and it was very good and fresh! I’m a big fan of seafood, especially shrimp, tilapia and salmon and I tell you this platter was amazing! And added with my platter, I ordered a Tito’s with pineapple, and it was great as well. If you are a seafood lover and live by Newburgh or come out this way, definitely recommend stopping by!
We really enjoy coming here! The kids love the kids meal options. The pictures include hamburger, cheese burger both with fries and applesauce. Chicken nuggets with chips and salsa (my daughter doesn’t eat the salsa just the chips) they are amazing. We got fried pickles, stuffed mushrooms, clams, fish sandwich, and then the combo with fish, shrimp, calamari and scallops.
I really love earning at The Tin Fish! The food is really good and the service was good too. The location is nice with good parking and they keep the whole place clean. There is an upstairs seating area as well. The food is awesome, this last time I was there I had onion rings and all I can say is YOU NEED TO TRY THE ONION RINGS! I enjoyed my fish and chicken and it was reasonably priced for my kiddos meals. They have their own personal recipes for tarter and cocktail sauce and a buffalo ranch for the fried pickles(I also recommend) which is a cool touch. Lots of great entrée options as well but my party was a little more basic with the fried fish but it was really good and well worth the trip.
We went there on a Friday night and arrived about 5pm which barely beat the rush. They have a nice selection of fresh fish from what I understand is flown in. They also have an oyster bar. We started out with fresh shucked oysters. We also ordered the shrimp fritters which is one of our favorites. The food is always hot and fresh and comes out in a reasonable amount of time. The only items we wish would be different is the fact that one has to order food and drinks at the counter, then find an open table. Food is then delivered by runners. On busy nights those poor runners are trying to find the order numbers to match the food. It was good when they came by and quickly removed empty plates, but they also should be trying to upsell drinks when they are running low. The other item that we consistently encounter here is that the apps literally come a few minutes before the food. We wish they would have a dedicated apps line cook so that hot apps would come out more quickly and people have time to finish before the meal arrives. Overall, great place!
Definitely a gem in Newburgh that everyone needs to try. I've been coming here for year, to both locations, and have always had a great experience. Weather permitting, patio seating is a must. Sunday brunch is amazing and their regular meals are equally great. They're also the best place to get oysters on the half shell. The brunch cocktails on Sunday hit the spot with the crab cake benedict where during the week I kind the fried scallop taco or mixed fish and chips.
This was my first time dining here. We were seated & greeted immediately. We caught them during the Sunday brunch, but they also have a few items from the regular menu to choose from. I ordered the fish/shrimp & my husband ordered the fish n chips. Everything was hot, fresh, perfectly seasoned, and with a nice presentation. Loved everything! Generous portions as we had to take the rest In to go boxes. We will definitely be back!
Friendly staff, quick service, nice restaurant. My son has an egg allergy so it's nice. They had a grilled options. Food was flavorful and fresh. However, for the price there should be bigger portions, my son is 2 years old and he ate an entire adult entree minus the slaw.
My husband, daughter and I went for lunch. It wasn’t very crowded. You go up to the counter and order. They have delicious slaw and fries. The fried fish was decent. I ordered red snapper. It was not cheap and I was very disappointed. It had very little flavor and was very dry. I would go back for the fish and fries. The shrimp and clams are both very good, but the snapper was a big letdown.
For the price, the portions are too small. One filet isn't really a platter, especially since fries are not included and the cole slaw is only a few ounces. My bread pudding was dry, had the texture of day old bread, and the flavors clashed so I wouldn't buy it again. The fish was cooked perfectly and had great flavor, as you would expect from a restaurant that specializes in fish. The clam chowder has great flavor, but is very runny with minimal ingredients, making it primarily liquid. Service was painfully slow... it took me 10 minutes to make it to the register with only two orders ahead of me, and the food didn't come out for twenty minutes. That's excessive considering only my fish needed cooked and it was only one filet.
Order at the counter, take your number and seat yourself; they bring food to you. Nice, large space with outdoor seating. Friendly & helpful staff. We had stuffed mushrooms, clam chowder, fish & chips, orange roughy fillet. Everything was fresh and hot, small-ish portions, chowder was a bit watered down. Will return to try other menu items.
Hate to rate service low as it is NOT due to the people working there. They had prices listed menus and came out to the line to give us menus. Then at the counter when we ordered they tried to charge each of us $3 more than the menu stated. Tried to say they were old menus but even at the counter the price was what we were seeing and these were specifically made for Lent..and it is during Lent so how old could they be? Finally took a little off our total but make sure you watch what they try to charge.
Ordered to go. Friendly service but what happened to the portion size? Haven't been there in over 9 months and the the fish and chips is not worth the price anymore.
We love, love the Sunday brunch that is still advertised on the website but the restaurant isn’t doing anymore apparently. We’ve been in several times, including today, hoping for the Brunch menu since the website hasn’t been updated. Their regular menu is ok, brunch menu is fantastic.
Was very disappointed to learn that the prices and listings on the website or nowhere close to what you actually get in the restaurant. The grilled fish combo is advertised as salmon, swordfish and snapper but what you get is salmon, mahi and tilapia. Also the price it's much different online than what it is in store buy a little over $2. The fillet of salmon is extremely thin but the mahi and tilapia were decent. Also for the prize pretty disappointed that it doesn't come with fries you have to pay another $3 for those. I can go to just about any other fish place coast to coast and fries or another sideare apart of a platter. At the end of the day the food didn't taste bad but it's definitely not anywhere near worth what they are charging. The German chocolate cake was pretty good and in line with what I've seen other restaurants charge for dessert. It's casual serve so you order from the counter and then people bring your food and check on you periodically. Everyone we encountered seem friendly but I removed a star for service not because of the people but because of the inconsistency from what is online versus in-store as I don't view that as five star service.
