Lou's Drive-In North Highlands Reviews
This is one of the BEST Burger places in town. They have a great and friendly staff as well as a wide variety of options to choose from. My bestie had the double cheeseburger and I had the Del West, which consisted of a single patty burger that had Bacon, Cheese, Jalapeno Slices, a Pineapple and Onion Ring and Tomato. It's a really good and interesting flavor when you get a bite of everything together. The Onion Rings are really crispy, crunchy, and very good. There's also a nice selection of flavors to choose from when ordering a Milkshake. Parking spaces are limited as well as the seating, but they do have a restroom. I look forward to having another meal here soon.
The food was so good, old-fashioned vibes. Large crinkle-cut fries are my favorite, and not a bad price. The three of us ate for under 60 bucks, which at any other fast-food place is about the same price: $20 per person. Their shakes are made with real ice cream. The whole vibe of the burger with the Thousand Island dressing and the crinkle-cut fries really takes me back to the old-school, simpler days of growing up as a kid in the 80s. I love this place. Not a great location in the area, but I still love this place, and their food was great.
Pretty good! Stopped here for a burger and fries. Really nice people, great food, etc. ATM was down, but they were willing to take any apps or cash. Definitely will be on our rotation.
I love this place. I used to go to the old Lou’s in Citrus Heights when I was a kid. I just went recently because I was craving the burritos and when I took a bite, they weren’t the same ones they changed them. I was so disappointed. The new ones I didn’t like. Other than that, I love Lou’s!!
Good food love it burgers are big fries are awesome plus friendly staff will be coming back lil on the pricey side and only complaint there is no combo meals all out of the cart
Their burgers never disappoint. Everything from their service to their foods are great. Lou's is the place to go for my burger craving
I love the fried mushrooms and in general everything is magnificent. When I'm craving burgers, there's no better place than Lou's Burgers to meet all my expectations.
Favorite classic burger and shake/malt joint in California or anywhere I've been. Outstanding burgers and fries, malts and shakes. There's not many classic burger joints around anymore but this is the REAL DEAL. Maybe bad for diet but great for great food
Made an order last minute, and the gentleman taking the order was polite and didn’t mind an order prior to closing. Picked up my order, and the lady at the front was polite. Got home, ate my burger and fries, and from now on I’ll be coming here to get burgers. They are 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for the last minute order! You guys are awesome!
Katie and her peer gave us amazing service last night. Kit Kat shake is awesome, hope they keep it on the menu! Katie was super kind and helpful! I know we will definitely be coming back. Nice old fashioned joint, hard to come by a nice spot like this anymore. I’ll have to try their burgers sometime.
The same awesomeness we've enjoyed for years and years.. like decades..we have driven from wherever we live at the time like today from meadowview @ I5... well worth the drive..old school soft serve ice cream cones.. vanilla is my favorite..my friend always gets the chocolate vanilla twist... I highly recommend.
There’s “hole-in-the-wall” bars and there’s “hole-in-the-wall” burger joints. Lou’s is absolutely just that. It might not be as fancy and sparkly as an In&Out but the burgers more than compete. The shakes with fresh fruit and syrups … FAR SURPASS the 3 little options at other burger places. As for the fries… we know that other place has them “animal style” to cover up the fresh cut but limp and bland flavor. The owners are there most days but all the staff are great. They know their regulars by name but greet everyone like family.
Hurry up if you haven't tried LOU'S YET get in there now while you can the teriyaki burger 🍔 hands down one of the if not best burger 🍔 I have had that's even including my jalapenos sriracha Burger that I make myself. The lady that took our order took it with Aloha Mahalo for the great burger 🍔
This place has been serving people since 1958! Best burger and malted shake I've had in a long time. Even had a chocolate Pepsi.
Visited this place for the first time on the 23rd. I'd been hearing some good things about Lou's so I arrived with somewhat high expectations. The drive-in design used by the restaurant is a cool, super convenient way to enjoy your meal in the comfort of your own space while being steps away from the order window. I ordered a double cheeseburger and small fries with water. The burger was fantastic, with the flavor and quality delivered being on par with something you might expect and In-N-Out. The fries were crisp and well salted. The main drawback from this place in my opinion is the price. My order cost me about $16, and that was only for a double cheeseburger, fries and water. Can get the exact same thing at INO for half that price. They also charge a fee for paying with a debit card, which is pretty annoying. All in all, I like this spot. Don't expect a cheap bite though.
Took a chance stopping in here going past on business as the exterior of the place is in need of some TLC. Turns out, this was a good move as the two ladies working the order window and the grill were super pleasant. It was a simple order..... I said, what's the best I can get here. Cheeseburger, fries and a chocolate milkshake. All three items were great. Place has been at this location over 60 years. Something has to be said about that. Would recommend.
Not the same place from my youth Only thing that’s the same is the name and location. The beef Pattie’s are your standard frozen beef no salt or pepper put on them very bland . So sad to see people coming up to the window saying they have been coming her for years and bringing their kids. $14 for a double and fries no drink. Nothing special anymore ( sad)
I was really looking forward to the chili cheese fries, but unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The chili tasted like canned chili, topped with a slice of American cheese, and my husband even saw the staff microwave the food. If I were there, I would’ve said, “You know what, I don’t want the chili cheese fries—I can just open a can at home and pour it over frozen fries I put in the air fryer.” The burger was just a frozen patty with no flavor or care—basically the same as McDonald’s or Carl’s Jr. The only thing that was decent was the milkshake. We ordered two cheeseburgers, an order of chili cheese fries, and a small order of fries, small shake and it cost $36. That’s a complete waste for this place. I had high hopes because their other location in Citrus Heights is much better, but it seems like, many places these days have stopped caring and are just settling for the bare minimum. (Although who knows both like locations could be like this now… it’s been about 10 years since I even visited their other one) As a chef, it’s especially discouraging when you don’t feel like cooking at home and can’t even get a decent burger and chili cheese fries out. Maybe it’s the area, but I cannot recommend this location.
