Joyce's Northridge Reviews
Great breakfast nook in small, old fashioned diner with original interior decor on Reseda blvd. Attentive, experienced, hardworking staff exhibit warm and friendly service with the utmost professionalism. My coffee, pancake, over easy egg, strip of bacon and sausage link was about as good as they get, and they hit the spot. A minor miscommunication turned into an outstanding, memorable and above and beyond experience: Their “Joyce’s Special” was 2 of everything. I asked my server if they offered a junior option, and at first she hesitated, but then she realized they did it’s just not called that. She did point out the price which I was too excited to notice, and approved my junior option. The food was great, and the experience was great. I paid $25 tax and tip, and noticed that their banner advertising their “Special” said it was $14.99 for 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 strips, 2 eggs. I then asked my server to show me again which menu option I had chosen, and indeed it was what I got, for about $13.50. And that’s when I realized why the plate I did not get was called “Special”. It was 2x what I got for $1.50 more. And the server did note it, I just didn’t catch the heads up. After confirming my error, I simply said “now I know for next time”. The next thing I know, my sweet server starts counting cash, and then hands me a bunch of money and apologized. I was not asking for nor expecting that. It was MY oversight. I need to be better about what I order before I actually order it. I was so touched by the gesture that I immediately declined. I was there to support small, local business and I was there to get tasty food with great service—and I got exactly that. My price oversight was MY fault. I asked her to split my refund among the staff. 5 stars.
11/27/2025 I went here to try what they had the first time, as soon walked in I was surprised how clean and nice inside was. The theme is classic. And tgey have an atm machine because they only accept cash. I ordered the a watermelon juice and "PASTRAMI AND EGGS" with extra (5 pieces) of bacon and sausages. It also came with hash brown and toasts. It was perfect! The water melon juice was so good, the portion of the pastrami and egg was generous, the bacon and sausage were perfect as well. Oh wait! I was also given a pimpkin pie bt the owner. The experience was totally awesome and it only costed me $38.55.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Feels Like Home Already We’re new to the area and still figuring out which places will become our regular go-to spots. Joyce's wasn’t on our radar, but after visiting, it just might be the one. The place was spotless and had a warm, comfortable vibe. Our server was friendly, helpful, and knew the menu well. When he mentioned agua frescas, everyone at the table lit up. The watermelon was light and refreshing, but the cucumber lime was something else. Crisp, cool, and honestly one of the best drinks I’ve had in a while. Food came out quickly, tasted great, and everyone at the table was happy with their meal. That alone is a win. This feels like the kind of spot we’ll be coming back to again and again.
Absolutely delicious and very welcoming, with a calm relaxed atmosphere. Felt very homey and great prices for a lot of food. Servers are super friendly and polite. Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Everything is fresh and quite appetizing. Fast service. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you to the restaurant team for making this an awesome experience!
The atmosphere is that of an old fashioned coffee shop, the music is 70's easy listening and just the right volume to have a conversation without yelling. The food was Excellent. The price is easy on the wallet and restroom was clean. I highly recommend Joyce's Coffee Shop for anyone with a healthy appetite and a desire to be taken back in time.
Stopped here on the way to the airport and I was not disappointed! I had a ham, cheese, mushroom and onion omelette (not on the menu exactly) with country potatoes and it was delicious! The coffee was good, the food came fast and got and the server was great. I'll be eating here again when I'm back in town. But they are cash only, luckily I had some on hand . . .
Was a great diner experience with excellent customer service!! First time coming and wish I lived here just to go back again!! The reviews are spot on it's a little hole in the wall with old time vibes. The food is great I went with a Tuna Melt and my friend got the Pastrami sandwich both were made to hit the spot. The pies are great and homemade I choose a Pecan Pie (better than my mom's, sorry momma!). Prices were better than a Denny's with bigger portions too. Shout out to Ms. Cynthia for the excellent service!!! They do a LAPD discount as well.
All was good at Joyce's, especially the nostalgia... From the pictures and posters on the wall to the fun oreo waffles and steak and eggs. Great coffee and great friendly service reined. Went back for another great experience ...
Great local spot for breakfast or brunch. It's always a treat to see what specials they have on Saturday and Sundays. A few weekends back we got the chilaquiles and it was amazing. Great selection of home made pies as well! Cash only, but there is an ATM available.
March 24, 2019: Walked in and was immediately greeted by the new owner of the coffee shop. The place was full of people, from couples to families, there were more staff since I last came here. The new owner was nice to inform me of a couple changes to the menu, such as fresh-made pancakes and waffles and hand-cut hash-browns. I ordered the Ranch Style Breakfast (with Sausage) and everything was well-made, pancakes were great and the egg was cooked to my liking. The staff checks up on your table, even more than before, making sure you're in a family-friendly environment. Like before, I highly recommend coming here, plenty of choices, friendly staff, casual and safe environment, and you could be here for a quick bite or just to relax. First experience: Truly wonderful experience, they were very nice and thoughtful. I walked in (door on the right of the Coffee Arrow Sign, not the left) and sat down, I was immediately greeted and my order began. I received my coffee within the minute, with no rush to order. I got Two Eggs with Hash Browns and Salsa (comes with Toast but I opted for more Hash Browns), just like Edwin's photo on here, they were worried the salsa would be spicy and put it on the side just in case. They came over frequently to check if everything was okay and if I needed a refill on my coffee. The menu items are inexpensive and well-portioned, although the coffee was a bit weak, service was friendly, place was clean and constantly kept clean. The environment wasn't loud nor quiet, some casual conversations around the shop with a bit of the kitchen's cooking protruding in. While it's not modern looking like Denny's and other big name diners, it gives you a safe feeling and that you're welcomed. I highly recommending going and I would come back any chance I can!

Excellent for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Great menu, service was great & very clean. The co-owner Michelle was very attentive to the quality of service & food. My granddaughter was grumpy so Michelle swooped in with art supplies & Mickey pancakes!. Looking forward to going back!
I rarely give five stars across the board. Everything about the meal was as it should be. Food was fresh and well prepared. Coffee was excellent. Service was excellent. All the details of an excellent dining experience was there. My hat's off to the well trained staff. Thank You!
Solid breakfast place. Never change. Small diner vibe. Inhaled my food, forgot to take a picture, and they have good drinks. Cheers

Great food and service very clean my fiance had avocado toast I had a cheeseburger when we were all done before we checked out they brought us a piece of homemade cherry pie I'd go back just for the pie they've been open since 1955 and still going strong
An absolute jam! Literally the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had in my life. They hand make everything here, including the breading. Must!
Nice little breakfast diner with cute decor. The only thing missing is the little juke boxes on the tables. Established in 1955 and still going strong. That in itself says something about how well the restaurant is run. Cash only. Parking and entrance at the rear I had the corned beef hash and eggs. One of my favs. Big portions. Extra stars for accommodating dietary preferences Overall a decent place to eat. I will return
Joyce’s has been open since 1955 and is a cash only diner in a sleepy part of the valley. Most of the seating is indoors and is split between booths and the counter. Our server was extremely polite, although they forgot my pancakes for my order so I had to wait quite a bit for those after everyone else at the table and already finished. There is a small parking lot in the back however street parking and free neighborhood parking is really easy to find. For my first visit I ordered the Ranch Style Breakfast and as mentioned half of it came out and then the pancakes came out over 10 minutes later. The pancakes were fairly good, but the hamburger patty was just very bland and nothing special at all. I had a much better version at another place close by the week prior. Pricing is fair but being cash only is also a bit of an annoyance because I just don’t carry a lot on me anymore. Overall a solid diner and I would recommend if you are in the area.
Cute tiny cafe. Staff was super friendly. I got there and all the smaller booths were taken so I was told to sit at the bigger table at the end. When one of the booths opened up, they asked if I minded moving over. I was happy to oblige. Ordered the California Benedict with hasbrowns. Usually, I am not a huge fan of hashbrowns because they are greasy or soggy, these were neither! They weren't overly crispy but the fact that they were not drenched in oil made them delicious. Eggs and avocados were just right. Coffee was okay. Definitely going back to try other things on the menu and listen to the great selection of music that was playing!
Love finding cool diners with great food and friendly staff. Do you know this coffee shop opened in 1955??? Prices are reasonable. Huge menu. I love supporting a small local business. Loved my breakfast. Yummy pancakes. Boyfriend was thrilled with his Moco Loco. Canned soda, would have preferred fountain drinks. Clean bathroom. Plenty of parking. Close early, Only open for breakfast and lunch. So, go get your grub on inside, outside or at the cool old timey counter.

What a great spoon! Diner and Cafe ala 1955, when it opened. I am sure it looked very close to what it is today. It was clean and well kept. Everything was nice, fresh, and the staff were great! Breakfast and coffee is what we had and it was great but then menu had some great lunch items as well. We will be back to try more. They had beer and mimosas as well. Go and check em out.
Classic hole in the wall dinner atmosphere. Great for parties of 1-4 people. I had the breakfast burrito and it was great.
Cash only. The food was okay. The breakfast potatoes were a bit undercooked and not seasoned. The omelette was decent. The pancakes were fine. I didn't have the waffles, but they had bacon waffles that looked good. The servers were nice but the service was pretty bad: they mixed up multiple times, giving the food to the wrong person, putting the wrong food on the plate, and forgetting some things entirely (cream cheese for the bagel). The atmosphere was nice. It was a typical diner atmosphere. The plates and utensils looked like they had been used for years: lots of chips in them, etc. They were clean, but very used.
Came here at around 815 on Saturday before the morning rush. Ordered French Toast with eggs over easy and bacon, and a veggie burrito with hash browns. French Toast was little too dry for my preference. Bacon and eggs were tasty. They got my order wrong first, breakfast potatoes instead of hash browns, but quickly corrected that. Veggie burrito had a lot of hash browns, wish it had more veggies. Hash browns are crunchy and soft. They were the best part of the breakfast. Staff is very kind. Would like to try other options, particularly whatever they’re specials are. Another table got chilaquiles and it looked like a mountain of deliciousness!
