Dr. Insomniac's Novato Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Had an iced Cozy Pumpkin delivered from Dr. Insomniacs and it somehow showed up tasting like fall itself—cold, creamy, and dangerously good. If this is what insomnia tastes like, count me in.
My new favorite coffee shop. They have an incredible variety of baked goods, smoothies, breakfast and lunch options that I have yet to try. My go-to is the honey nut latte with oat milk, half sweet.
I was on a vacay away from the hustle and bustle and I had about 3 hours left before reaching home and needed to wake up, so I decided to check this place out, coffee was strong enough that I was awake the whole ride and many mores after 😳. Their mango smoothie and scuffins were amazing as well! I wish they branch out and open more to different locations :)
A unique locally owned place to have delicious coffee when in Novato. This is where the locals go on Grant Avenue. On a sunny day, being at Dr. Insomniac’s is delightful! Plenty of space to sit, whether it is out in front, bistro-sidewalk style or on the spacious patio outback. The scones are yummy! I had the peach blueberry. The man ahead of me in line recommended it as he had one. An odd flavor combination at first sight. But oh the taste is delicious. My cafe latte was satisfying with a generous amount of rich frothy whole milk. Get to Dr. Insomniac’s a bit early because it gets busy and the line is out the door. Service is excellent! Staff very friendly and helpful. If you want to get a sense of the real local town of Novato, Dr. Insomniac’s is the place, especially on a sunny day.
We were heading toward SFO from Bodega Bay and pulled off hey to find a breakfast spot. Made a turn just to get oriented and found this place. Perfect! Great Chai Latte and breakfast dishes.
What's not to like (love!) about this wonderful "Dr.Insomniac's Cafe" Coffee Roastery - coffee, breakfast/lunch/bakery/"anytime food", and wonderful ambiance establishment in downtown Novato! (It's like going to Grandma's house! ) The beautiful remodeled historic building and location of the 1893 blacksmith shop ("The Fashion Shop") of Stephen Porcella with Porcella family house -- is on the Nat'l Reg. of Historic Places. The family who operates this wonderful food and coffee establishment put a lot of thought and love into making everything just right! The BEST!
Very cute coffee shop! There’s room to work but doesn’t appear there are any plug ins if you need charging. The blueberry scones are to die for!! They have a very robust menu.
This coffee shop is a must-visit in Novato! Their Tuxedo coffee, a delicious white and black chocolate mocha, is clearly a local favorite. They also boast a great selection of tasty smoothies and a large menu with plenty of breakfast options. Despite a steady line of customers, even on weekdays, service is extremely fast – both food and coffee are ready in no time! While the scrambled eggs were a bit bland and the sandwich was just okay, the exceptional drinks and speedy, yet friendly, service make this a fantastic and relaxing spot.

This is an institution in Novato, and well worth it for excellent coffees and baked items. There are a few lunch items on the menu too. There's a very pleasant outdoor seating area in the back.
Searched coffee in Novato. Starbys came up first. No thank you! Looked for a local shop and came upon this awesome spot! Clean, airy, efficient, friendly. Great outdoor seating, lovely staff. I plan on begin on Novato more in the future and am happy to have found s nice place to enjoy delicious food and beverages.
Absolutely love! Tons of great food, great coffee, excellent staff and a cute shop. There’s a huge amount of seating indoors and outdoors. Go here instead of Starbucks. :)
Sorry, I don't know how a two-star review came from my phone on this place. Must have been an accidental typo. My family and I love this place! Great smoothies Great sandwiches and great service! Sorry for the accidental two star!
Only popped in for a quick coffee during our drive but had to right a review! I got a dirty chai and it was MAGICAL!!! Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend got a black coffee and it was very good as well! Great place to stop for coffee! Didn't get a chance to try the food - next time! :)

Very. I mean very. Strong (in a good way) coffee. Beats Philz, equator, others around by miles… and the scruffins, oh my goodness the scruffins. I will be craving these sporadically for the rest of my life probably 🤣

First time here - I ordered an iced chai, mixed (sweet and spicy). It was pretty good, a concentrate, I imagine. I also got the falafel wrap, which was simple yet delightful 😊 happy with my choices. I'll be back!
Simple cafe with a bunch of tables just outside. I wanted a quick breakfast before leaving town, so I had their Denver scramble and banana nut bread. Both were pretty good. I need to try their signature scuffins next time.
Oldest structure in town. Now a coffee shop with sandwiches. Staff was ok, food and drinks was also ok.

Best coffee. Hands down. Food was great too. Employees could use some caffeine themselves though. Got zero smiles, no greetings, almost felt like we were bothering them.

Great outdoor seating with umbrellas. Noisy sitting inside due to the smoothie machines. I might’ve given this all five stars if the staff had been kind or friendly. This was my first time here which was obvious because I was not familiar with the menu boards or their coffee selection. There were a young man working and a woman working. Neither seem to be glad I was here. They were abrupt with their answers and seemed very annoyed with me. I know this is a popular place, but I can eat at home and find good food to eat there. Part of going out is having a kind of person greet me. This was definitely not that. Not even close.
Smoothies are not great. They don’t use real fruit and they are very sweet. The bagels are just OK but the breakfast burrito was very good!

Chorizo burrito was bland and had VERY little Chorizo in it. I called them to say I was dissatisfied but they cannot take your call right now and their mail box is full??? Nothing says we don't care like not answering the phone or allowing you to leave a message. So... here we are.

A regular gone elsewhere I use to buy coffee here daily like their “sophisticate” bean or Columbian but the women here in the mornings say they will no longer will brew anymore and only gold and blvd so now I buy my coffee at Tagliaferri deli down the street for 2.25 The eggs should be bigger since they went upin price tiny eggs for 1.59 each should be at least extra large eggs and maybe organic these look like cheap eggs. Lack in customer service and attitude from staff have steered me away. Shame. The coffee cake was a day old …disappointing and crumbs everywhere. Maybe outdoor seating is the only thing going fur them these dads otherwise i think overpriced items make me go elsewhere since there’s really no service with a smile anymore.
