Anh Dao Oakland Reviews
Between my friends and I we all have difficult dietary issues. This joint made us all happy. The portions were great and food was seasoned and prepared well. Can’t wait for next time
I love their vermicelli bowl and pho. Great staff, low key & good vibes.
I tried the chicken soup noodle Its always good and healthy. Rice pot was also very good. Very good option for those who loves plain taste , healthy organic and tired of American breakfast or indian curries.
this is the best overall pho restaurant I have been to. I always go here. It's not the absolute best pho in Oakland but you can hardly tell the difference and their egg rolls make up for it. They play sports on tv and they are the fastest to get your order to your table.
Not my regular Pho spot, but always fast, friendly and tasty food. Love the Thai tea too!
Authentic dishes! The Pho, Bun Bo Hue, and Ca Phe Sua are all excellent! I've been here a dozen times and never been disappointed. Favorite Viet place in Oakland.
These are nice kind people, I have problems with my knees, they HELP ME ALL THE TIME. I 💘 💘 💘 THIS PLACE, nice clean all the time, the food is great your money worth and more. Food fresh and don't take all day. Visit this place
I sometimes come here during my lunch break. I have never been disappointed. I usually stick to the rice plates but they really good Pho as well.
Family run, friendly service, food was ready quickly, I did take out, #30 and #44 and Vietnamese coffee. Food was yummy, will go back, happy to support local family business!
Delicious Vietnamese cuisine. I ordered chicken broth noodle soup with sunny side up egg on the side. along with spring rolls filled with tofu rice and noodles Spring rolls are similar to egg roll except spring roll is a rice circle that you damp with warm water then added ingredients and rolled to perfection Along with a side of fresh bayleaf jalapeno slices bean sprouts Great atmosphere and great hospitality If you're visiting for the first may i suggest you stay at the Waterfromnt Hotel there at Jack London Jacck London got it's name after Jack London famous writer Check out the local eatery's at Jack London . and if you're in the mood for family fun🤗 there is themovie theater regal 9 orFairyland at Lake Merrit it's a petting zoo for children then have lunch at Pho Anh Dao Vietnamese Cuisine also they serve American Cuisine 🙂 I highly recommend you catch a Lyft or Uber car service or walk pending if you're up for 1/2 miles hike You can't get lost walking Take it from me I depend on walking or public transportation there s also historical Lake Merritt Lake Merrit is man made lake built in 1800s or so... The Lake is seawater That comes from the bay the Lake has low and high tides Try to go to Lake Merrit when there's no Low tide I'm still learning that one☺️ that's on the way to the Pho Anh Dao List is endless 🤗
Amazing fooooood. Loved it so much I got the #39 and can’t wait to try it again soon!!!! The staff is super nice and they have us water as soon as we sat down.
I love this spot. It's great for a cheap meal on a cold day!! Pho is around $8, and the broth is one of the best I've tasted!
I just had one the best vegan bahn mi’s of my life at this unassuming place. Wish I had a picture. It’s less than $8 on the menu and is truly delicious. Fantastic vegan option.
Great neighborhood Vietnamese Food. I had the BBQ pork plate and was impressed by the quality, however I felt that the portion size was a little on the smaller end. The atmosphere feels like an old school hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant. Would recommend ! Th
they have the best Bahn Mi and Pho in the area. staff here are so sweet and friendly, and the prices are ridiculously affordable. This will always be my favorite Vietnamese spot in Oakland!
Pho is great. Bahn mi’s are my son’s favorite. And the vermicelli is also delicious. A go to spot for our family.
Fantastic restraunt! Tastey food and fast service!
This is in our neighborhood so we come here all the time. We love it so much. They are fast and friendly and the pho is so good. I really like the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.
Their Chicken pho is my favorite in Oakland. I eat it every time I'm there , same dish . the ingredients fresh and the pho is good so I assume that the rest of the food can't be too bad ... The place - it's interior look is not designers dream but it is clean and works for me . The owner , Long , which many times will be there is a good person And the staff will service you well . Also , after reading the bad reviews , Some people are a bit spoiled .
Our neighborhood pho spot! We love coming here anytime of the week, pho broth is always hot and fresh and rice plates and appetizers are good. Staff is really nice and food come pretty fast too.
This is my go-to spot when it's after 9 pm and pretty much everything else is closed in Oakland. This place is opened till 11 pm I believe. Their extra large pho is only 11 bucks. Huge value for the price. I usually go home with a full second meal because I bring back leftovers, but you can definitely eat the whole thing if you're really hungry.
Great. Pork chops were delicious. Vegetable rolls too. Nice, clean atmosphere and nice day. My sister suggested it because she likes it there. There were five Hispanic parties there...including me 😄
Been coming here for over 20 yrs. The broth is off the charts. Super consistent. Same today as the first time I walked in. You can't go wrong with the pork chop, but it's the soup that satisfies!
I had an amazing experience here. The service was incredible and everyone was friendly, attentive, and made me feel really welcomed. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a good meal. And the food was absolutely delicious. The pho was flavorful, fresh, and served hot. Definitely one of the best spots around. Highly recommended!
A bit pricey and portions are a bit small but the food was delicious.what I had a bad experience with was the kids meal. I do not🚫 recommend get the kids meal. It was about $9 and that plate left me speechless 🙊. There was about a big spoonful of steamed rice 🍚 a slice of eat ( about the size of an ID) and I think 2-3 broccoli with 2 carrots. Not worth the $9.
Not a fan of soup but it was pretty good but a little pricey, I will return.
Food was decent. Good for if you’re craving Viet food, but not top notch!
A good amount of food for the money, and I liked the variety of options. I thought the pho was a little too salty, but overall good flavor. I got take out instead of eating in, so I have no comments on the ambiance or service. However, they prepared the food very quickly; it was ready 10 minutes after I called in.
Very good Vietnamese food. The portions were generous and presented well. Our wait person explained each dish as they were served. Good neighborhood spot. No real decor but I can't eat the decor.
Great authentic food. Freshly prepared food with flavors that I know and love from Vietnamese cuisine: sweet, salty, spicy, sour, fish sauce and a surprising amount of yummy veggies hiding in everything. The staff is helpful for recommendations and some substitutions. Feels slightly expensive if you are looking for atmosphere, but the food is the show stopper.
We wanted something cheap and filling so it always comes down to pho. Note that this place is not in the best location, but the restaurant is big and there is plenty of seating. I got the pho with steak and & fat brisket. It was pretty good and satisfied my craving, but it wasn’t anything amazing. The service was quick and I like how they have the menu underneath the glass on the table so you don’t have to wait for the menu. Overall, it was okay for a quick and cheap meal.
The food was ok, I had fried rice with chicken. I didn't taste other food, so the rating is on that.
I remember going to this place when they just opened and I was still eating meat. The inside hasn't changed much but the menu definitely has. For one, they are definitely more vegetarian friendly but unfortunately the food actually has gone down. I've had better vegetarian food elsewhere. The waiter today was also very interesting. When I came in, I told him there were a total of 7 of us. He still insisted on seating us at a table that only fit 6 so we needed to pull a chair up at the end of the table. The restaurant only had one other table in there when we entered. I didn't feel like arguing with him so I said ok fine. He then proceeded to bring out only 5 cups of water instead of seven. I told him I needed two more water and it took him a while to get us the water. When I ordered, I told him I wanted one pho with beef balls and one with cha (pork cake). He looked at me all weird and said they didn't have that and cha only goes into their bun bo hue. He proceeded to tell me that I won't taste good like that. I gave him this look and basically told him give me two beef balls noodles and substitute one beef balls with cha. I also told him that it wasn't that complicated to do. He then finally relented and agreed. I won't be coming back here once pho king opens in August. There food is so much better and the service is also better.
Super nice, competent staff. Liked that they joked around with me. Even mediocre Vietnamese food is good food, but it was mediocre nonetheless. Had a pork banh mi with fried egg and pork vermicelli noodles with egg roll. Both dishes were smaller than you can get at other Vietnamese restaurants, and it didn't pack a punch with flavor. The water was tepid and had that tap water taste and smell to it.
Been coming here since 2005. Pretty solid spot but Recently they switched owners and the quantities will never be the same. Still 🔥 but yeah they used to hook it fat wit da 🍖
Food is pretty good. Just make sure to always bring cash. If the card machine is broken they won’t tell you until AFTER you order and eat. So you’ll have to pay the ATM fee if you’re not a chase customer. Service is pretty meh, but the staff is usually pretty friendly even if they don’t really check on you.
Visited this place many times. I just didn't remember my last time was not the best. Cleanliness: there was a noodle on top of my chair. Overall, table, utensils and bathroom, clean. Food: had a large bowl of Pho but didn't seem large. The noodles soggy. The worst were the bean sprouts which were withered and rotting. It looked liked it was kept in the fridge too long. The meat and broth tasted alright. And I didn't have that MSG thirsty feeling a few hours later. Service: I was not greeted at the door. The waiter had an attitude problem - never smiled, never said hi nor thank you. The female cashier was nice. Prices: reasonable. I'll only come back if there's no other place open.
As the closest pho place to my home, I had high hopes. I will not return. The food was tasty, but certainly not standout (and I’ve tried 12 places locally within the last 3 months). The service was shameful— somehow condescending. And the spicy sauce on the table was plain mediocre. But if you must go, get the shrimp clay pot. Phos are fine. But you’re better off at Pho king across the street by far!
The pho is ok, you’ll pay according the size of the bowl which doesn’t make sense because for example if you order the special dac biet with everything in it that will cost the same as the tai nam which only has two types of meat. Shouldn’t you pay less if you’re technically served less?
Worst bowl of pho I’ve ever had. Lukewarm, Oily, incredibly bland even after adding siracha and hoisin, noodles were soggy. Not worth $12 a bowl.
I ordered a strawberry smoothie that was very bland it had no flavor. I also ordered chicken fired rice, which they left on the counter when it was done as I sat there and watched them walk around. I had to walk to the counter to get my good, to come home and discover that the chicken had a pink color to it. My son asked me if I ordered shrimp fried rice.
Drove miles to visit my daughter. Me and my two daughters came to eat here and I order 3 soups and repeated my order. He only brought out 1 soup. And I asked them about the 2 other soups around 9:40pm they replied "awww our cooks left". However, they didn't close until 10:30pm.
not yummy :( my pho tasted like it was deer feet in water and that’s it
Arrived at 7 pm and told that the kitchen was closed. However, their website states it closes at 8:30 PM. Please, get it together 👎🏾
Yesterday, my sister and I went to this eatery. We placed an order for two bowls of pho and one serving of spring rolls. Initially, the service was satisfactory. To be completely honest, the soup tastes like canned food. This is the worst bowl of pho I've ever had. We chose to stay there for about an hour, and a Vietnamese man arrived to ask a waiter in Vietnamese, "Oh, that 2 girls only eat 2 dishes, why they keep sitting there?" I'm not sure if he was the owner or what. Don't get me wrong; this guy was attempting to communicate with us in Vietnamese. Don't get me wrong, this person was attempting to communicate to us, not the waiter; we were communicating with each other in Vietnamese. I think they are Vietnamese, thus they must be familiar with Vietnamese culture, even if their knowledge is limited. I may be able to understand, but constantly someone rude like that owns a restaurant. However, their cuisine isn't that great, and the service, as I already mentioned, isn't worth it. You could travel a little bit to San Leandro or Hayward for better food and service with that amount of money.
If it was possible , I’d rate this restaurant 0 stars. Customer service was 0/10. Absolutely horrible customer service. My family and I were rushed when ordering, then we were not checked on to be given refills or to see how our food was, then when leaving , I asked the lady for a to go tray and she sooo rudly said you need to wait then shewed me away and said go stand over there and wait a minute. I’ve never left a review any where I’ve eaten at before whether good or bad, but this review has to be written. Will never eat here again.
Worst. Place. Ever. This place must have recently changed hands. It used to be amazing but I was utterly disappointed our last time there. The chicken tasted rotten and smelled awful. Our pho tasted Like soap filled broth. We left our bowls on the table and went to pay when the owner said they won't accept our chase debit card, even though they have a machine right on the counter. Made us go get cash from chase so we could pay for a meal we didn't even touch. Don't waste your time or money going to this awful place.
I was given the wrong order of pho with meat I didn’t like, but I tried to eat it anyways as mistakes happen. I ended up picking out the meat and the waiter said a snarky comment to me about it. I tried to explain to him my order was wrong, but he walked away and didn’t listen. I saw that he eventually noticed he gave me the wrong order when talking with the cashier, and he just laughed about it. I tried to exchange it, but the cashier didn’t understand me well. I’m pretty sure the waiter was so rude because I am not of Asian decent and so he wouldn’t take the time to even listen. Very disappointed with this experience
Worst service ever. Middle aged man overseeing the restaurant took a very long time to come over to our table. When he did take our order he was rude. Brought my food 10 minutes before he brought my girlfriends dish. My bowl had dish soap bubbles in it. Server did not check on our table even once and I had to yell across the restaurant to get him to bring us some more water. Food was disgusting and the "pork" in our bowls was some sort of baloney product. Avoid.
Today I came to pick up an order, Mobile Order that I confirmed on my end in front of the male Asian short waitress with arm tattoos. I came out and got inside my car. Next thing, he was Nocking on my window, then I rolled down my window, for him to reach inside my car and snapped the order from me and took it back inside. I had to re enter and tell him that was hella disrespectful. He called me a thief, basically. I had to show him for the third time that was me. No wonder this place has 3.6 starts. You can’t come and accuse a costumer of stealing food. Specially when in his face. Right in front of him I confirmed the order.
