We had the galbi tang and spicy cold noodles with beef at Daol Tofu in Oakland. The galbi tang was rich and comforting — the broth had deep flavor, and the short ribs were tender and satisfying. The spicy cold noodles were refreshing with just the right kick, perfectly balanced with the sliced beef. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly. The vibe felt cozy and casual, a great spot for comforting Korean food in the neighborhood.

Daol has been in the neighborhood a long time. It’s often quiet, and that translates to attentive service and made to order food. We went for lunch and had the chicken bento, the mackerel, and the tofu vegetable stew. Everything deliciously spicy, plenty of rice and banchan, tea, and miso soup. All for $13.99! Highly recommend.

We had an absolutely delicious dinner at Doal Tofu & Korean BBQ on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. I must confess that this was my first experience eating Korean but it certainly will not be my last. Our waiter was enthusiastic and very helpful explaining the different kinds of dishes and why he was putting an uncooked egg on our table.we ordered the Galbi, which is a grilled beef that was very tasty and we also ordered Yachae Sundubu, which is a tofu stew that is served so sizzling and hot that we cracked the uncooked egg and added to the stew! It cooked instantly and added a wonderful unique texture to our dish. We also ordered a veggie pancake, that was the largest scallion- type pancake i’d ever seen. It tasted wonderful. We wisely had a bottle of Cass beer that’s a delicious Korean beer. The prices were very reasonable snd I can guarantee you that once you eat here, you’ll want to return often.

Very authentic, high-quality Korean tastes. Sizzling stone pot rice bowls are the strong point, akin to a spicy version of paella with delectably crispy rice at the bottom. Haemul Dolsot (해물돌솥비빔밥) — spicy seafood mixed with rice and raw egg — impressive and near heaven in savouriness. Steamed Dumplings (Jjin Mandu-찐만두) and Cold Buckwheat Noodles (Mul Naeong Myun - 물냉면) nothing particularly noteworthy, but good still.

We randomly found this place on Google map, and we're super happy that we found it! With 2 adults and two young kids (6 and 3,) we ordered 7 different dishes because we were excited with the variety of dishes they have to offer. And everything tastes so good!! We spent $135 before tips, which we totally think it's worth it. The house special, Bossam is worth trying! Galbi was yummy, not overly sweet, soup and Japchae were great. The banchan was yummy! Fish and pancake were also delicious. Bibimbub was also good.

2022.04 Been back here two more times Mul naeng myeon (cold noodle) for a warm night hit the spot. The broth was refreshing, loved the delicate slices of radish, apple, and cucumber. I wasn't the biggest fan of the cut of meat they used (fatty ground meat-like), but the seasoning was great. I want to eat this all summer. Someone in reviews recommended the mackerel and tofu soup combo--yesss. Fish flaky and well seasoned, it didn't taste like they slapped a sad frozen fillet onto the grill. There's something so satisfying about sitting down to Korean food and you get a whole spread of banchan with a wide array of colors and flavor profiles. 2021.12 So good! Had solo dinner of tofu soup and galbi, and both were seasoned perfectly for my taste. Galbi was meaty and not full of stringy fat, and soup was flavorful without tasting like they dumped in ramen flavor packet--it was still great as leftover the next day. Any time I eat Korean food, the banchan is always the star of the show, and I liked the ones here. Gotta come back for more dishes.

Great food and friendly service, all in a clean and inviting restaurant. Plenty of seating for variable-sized groups. We tried Daol over the other local Korean restaurants, because of some stellar reviews. The food and service lived up to our expectations. From outside to in, the restaurant was clean, modern looking, and inviting. The staff was friendly and courteous. The side dishes were plentiful and varied, and each offered a unique taste and texture to get our appetites running and to add to our main dishes. If spicy is your thing, then their menu is sure to satisfy. From soft tofu stew akin to their name sake, to spicy ramen cakes, Daol delivers on the spice and flavor, all at moderate prices.

Speedy, and tasty addition to the growing city of Korean BBQ and AYCE spots on Telegraph and nearby, their Bulgogi and hot pots are great! Not to mention the customary 12 side dishes. (Is that number a thing?). Nice staff, and the food comes pretty quickly.

Edited on 4/22/25 HOW does this place continue to be so quiet?? My bf requested it for his birthday dinner so we went tonight and it was excellent as ever. Not a single other person there at 8:15pm. I’m really hoping they’re bustling at 6pm or something, I’d hate to see this treasure go. If you’re looking for something delicious, satisfying, and good value, come here! Please. In a neighborhood that’s become too hip for its own good, this place is no hype and 100% genuinely wonderful. Original review: My favorite Korean spot in this neighborhood. Been living in Temescal for 14 years now and have been to this place a bunch over the years. Always amazing friendly homey service, the food is simple, good ingredients, and delicious, and the prices are decent. The banchan is plentiful- I think the older lady working there still makes the traditional cabbage kimchi. It was super garlicky and delicious tonight, and I loved the bean sprouts and cucumber in particular. I’m usually not a fan of fish cake but that was well seasoned and yummy too. My bf and I got the bulgogi dolsot bibimbap (beef sizzling bibimbap) and the kimchi jjigae. Both so flavorful and yummy, and the rice on the bibimbap crisped beautifully (unlike some other places in the neighborhood who try to offer dolsot bibimbap). So happy they’re in the neighborhood- they deserve to be way busier!

Korean person here. This place is authentic, their side dishes are always freshly made (and they give you a big variety), and the food is delicious! I find the seasoning to be perfect - not too salty as some of the other restaurants in the area. This is our favorite Korean spot in Oakland by far! We tend to eat early, but it’s never crowded in the restaurant. We also do a lot of takeout and it tastes just as good as dining in.

I found this Korean restaurant while in the area and decided to check it out. The food completely surprised me! The kimchi is one of the best I’ve ever had, and the galbi (ribs) are marinated in a delicious sauce. I also tried the tofu soup, and it felt like a warm hug—so comforting and homemade-tasting. I loved the flavors so much that I noticed they offered catering. I placed an order, and to my delight, everything was perfectly balanced with plenty of protein. All of my guests loved it! Highly recommend.

Great Korean comfort food. They serve the appetizer tray even at lunch. Quiet and fast service. Probably the most overlooked restaurant in Temescal.

As a Korean, this is absolutely the most authentic food you can get. It is the primary place where my mother will go for Korean food.

The food was wonderful here. They give a lot of assorted banchans. The place is nice and clean and feels very homey. The servers were very accommodating. We ordered a spicy pork dolsot bibimbap. It was very flavorful and yummy. I especially loved the crunchy rice on the bottom of the pot. It wasn't oily at all. I think it is the best bibimbap around. We also ordered a bulgogi. The meat was very tender and well marinated. Plus, the price is really reasonable for dinner. I would definitely come back again.

Came on Saturday night past 8PM, modestly busy, wasn't hard to get a table. Was recommended as my friend knew the owner's son. The kimchi pancake was pretty decent, definitely tasted better with something heavily savory like the hot pot or maybe bosam. Their jeongol says it's for 2 - 3, but honestly, it could feed 4 people easily. Maybe 2 Korean guys who just got out of their 2 year service could finish this in a sitting. Portions were very generous, broth was lightly sweet to offset how much beef we were eating. Service was great, pretty attentive, rarely needed anything more than maybe a soup ladle.

Super basic space, if ambiance or authentic setting is your jam- this ain't it. Paper napkins. Metal chopsticks for the sustainable win! Never had Korean food, thankfully had a friend who was well versed. She thoughtfully told the server I was vegan. Probably would just stick to saying no fish in the future. She got short ribs and bunchan, amazing selection of little bites. The server kindly separated the dishes with fish, the kimchi was left on my side- there's no fish in it but typically it's in the liquid so, choose your own adventure. I got the bibimbap tofu, no egg. Everything tasted a little like toasted sesame oil, which I love but it was on everything.. veg was all cooked really well, still had texture and color and wasn't mushy. Leftovers were amazing :)

Recently, I've had a lot of friends move to the state and country of Texas! They tell me about the many different reasons why it makes so much sense to move there ( cheaper gas?) and the bonus of getting " Real BBQ". For me, It's a No thank you for now! Still love the 🌈 rainbow of people, culture, and FOOD of the Bay! Daol is a comfortable and relaxing homey Korean restaurant in Oakland. Warm tofu soup and sizzling bbq items here. The dolsot bibimbop has beautiful colors and vegetables. A great dish that represents the mix and colors of the Bay.

First and last. Server was polite. But, there was lipstick on my water cup and I found a strand of hair in the kimchi. That was the welcoming note so, it's a no. We stayed because my mom wanted to help the server with tip. He reminded her of one of the grandkids. We came initially, for KB at Azit, across the street. They were good. They were unfortunately closed, open only for dinner at 5. If you stay anyway, bulgogi bibimpap was good, nothing grand to return for but it was good.
