Yosi Cafe Oakland Reviews
I love this place. It’s within walking distance of my house and Temescal, but has a quiet neighborhood feel to it. The decorations are adorable and purposeful; you can tell the place is cared for and clean. The staff are always welcoming and interactive and the prices are very reasonable. …but most of all, the food is amazing. Whether it’s their moist chocolate cake, giant breakfast sandwich or warm drink (espresso and Matcha 😋), I am always satisfied and appreciate the quality ingredients! Bonus, their water is infused and also yummy!
This Ethiopian restaurant is a great addition to the local dining scene. Had breakfast there with my family and we all loved it. Very friendly staff and very attentive owner committed to making you feel at home, with authentic cuisine cooked from scratch.
The staff at Yosi’s are very friendly and accommodating, making the whole lunch experience feel welcoming. They also offer Eritrean - and East African - style dishes, with traditional breakfast and dinner staples on the menu. We ordered ful, which can feed one to two people (suggested as a single-person portion) and ended the meal with tea, a perfect way to sit, chat, and wind down afterwards. Also highly recommend the strawberry lavender matcha!
I went here with my spouse for our first wedding anniversary date. My goodness, the decor is so warm and inviting and thoughtful. The staff were just as welcoming and friendly. I noticed that they had a lot of repeat customers, and it felt like you were at your auntie’s place hanging out until late. We got there around 3:30 and started with hot mocha and strawberry lavender matcha lattes. It was yummy and unsweetened, but they had sugar nearby in case you wanted it sweeter. We then tried the beef tibs with the injera for dinner, which starts at 4 pm! Perfectly seasoned and hot with a side of salad. It reminds me of a Filipino menudo or beef stew, and I was so happy to be able to eat with my hands again! We ended the night with a yummy brownie that they heated up for us. Btw, you order and eat first at the table, then pay at the counter before you head out. Highly recommend, and going on my favorite cafe list. We will be returning and enjoying more food and sharing photos!
Great atmosphere, extremely friendly, and delicious food. Shout out to the strawberry lavender matcha latte, very tasty. Just the right portions, didn’t leave hungry but didn’t over eat. Vegetarian friendly with substitutes. Some of the most refreshing water I’ve had.
This new Ethiopian/ Eritrean spot is absolutely adorable! The owner Azeb is so sweet and kind, I will be back! The food was delicious and hit the spot. I highly recommend! They also have coffee and baked goods like croissants, scones, cakes, etc! What more can you want/ need?
Always a great pleasure visiting Yosi’s Café. The cakes are delicious, the coffee is excellent, and the service is genuinely warm and beautiful. Every visit feels welcoming and enjoyable!

Food is absolutely amazing, I cannot explain how amazing every bite tasted. 10/10 from the food, to cappuccino, the customer service, and overall restaurant ambience!
We love the new Yosi’s. Great morning coffee! and Eritrean food for lunch and dinner. Also good pastries, eggs Benedict and avocado toast for breakfast!
Support local business, bipolar business, women owned business. They're showing up and out. Delicious vibes all around.
This place serves one of the best cappuccinos in the city. If you’re looking to refresh yourself and enjoy quality time with friends and family, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended — thank you!

We got brunch food, and everything was delicious 😋
Beautiful cafe with beautiful people and it’s local and family owned. Everything made in house. Have been here multiple times and always find it an enjoyable and lovely work space when I’m able to work from home.
This is a true gem. The food is delicious and the coffee is superb. I’m working remotely and have visited and worked in this coffee shop the entire week i’ve been in Oakland. Everyone who works here is so kind, warm, and welcoming. If you’re in the area, I cannot recommend this spot enough. I know I’ll keep coming back eveytime i’m in the area.
A lovely and warm place. I had a hot chai latte with oat milk and my friend had a hot honey & lavender latte. The Chai was delicious! Well spiced and not overly sweet. My friend's latte was on the sweeter side, next time she'll ask for half the sweetness. Our drinks were served in beautiful mugs.
The food was delicious and the ambience and atmosphere was as so warm and inviting. The ful meal was very fulfilling and healthy I could taste the love and care to the meal through and through and the strawberry lavender matcha was also really really good and the women and lady at the front counter treat you like family as through you are a welcomed guest into their home. Overall I really loved eating here and I looking to visiting this gem again and again
Stopped by after dinner for dessert and was so impressed! Delicious tiramisu, some of the best I’ve tried so far in Oakland, and wonderful service. Super affordable as well! Will definitely be back.
Nice and quiet place, I had latte almond i like it. Most important is the water tastes like lemon, fresh And i like it! Food I will try next time! But it seems nice. Specially for those people work or study by computer.
I’m Eastern European, but I love Ethiopian food, it taste delicious, comfort. Delicious deserts home made right in the caffe. Great people and atmosphere! Coming back and bringing my friends and family!
We had some hot drinks and honey wine! The Tej (Honey wine) is a definite recommendation! The service was very nice and we felt really welcome. Will definitely come back again!
Pancakes, eggs and bacon, all cooked perfectly. Attentive service, no waiting and a nice clean atmosphere. Tasteful, upbeat music.

Great coffee shop for getting work done. Nice people, very good coffee, and they even give carafes of fancy (with citrus, cucumber) chilled water at your table. A gem, honestly. Haven't tried the Ethiopian food yet, but I'm sure I'll be back.
Food was fine, matcha was great.
This place looks so cute and I really want to like this place but the food took over 20 minutes with no other customers and the country fry was undercooked. So disappointed. The sandwich just ok but not worth the wait. The mocha has no coffee taste just milk and chocolate syrup. I didn’t finish the drink and went to Peet’s afterwards.
