Powderface

This has been my go to spot for about 6 years M-F for their Thunderbolt Iced Vietnamese Coffee. It is very convenient spot as it is next to the Fruitvale Bart Station. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu except for the smoothies. My favorites are the Thunderbolt, the Mexican Spiced Mocha and the Coconut Frappe. All the meals are made to order and the crepes and breakfast sandwiches are delicious. I’ve had their beignets a few times and they are divine. The girls that work the morning shift are friendly and always greet you with a smile. I have been coming here for so long the girls know exactly what I want and if they aren’t super busy they will have it made if they see me standing in the line. They pretty much know if it’s cold I want the Mexican Spiced Mocha and if it’s a normal warm day it’s the Thunderbolt. I would recommend Powderface to anyone wanting some great caffeinated drinks, quality food and a friendly atmosphere. 5 stars!

Great place to sit, have breakfast and enjoy the local community. My green tea latte was delicious and my morning crepe was fresh.

Soooo good. The mozzarella tomato basil sandwich was very good and the caramel macchiato was the best I've ever had. The beignets are big and definitely worth the price. And the crepes are amazinggggg. I will be back if I ever find myself in the Bay area again!

Good cafe near Fruitvale Bart. They have many pastry/dessert options including French style crepes made to order and all the standard coffee drinks. They have indoor and outdoor seating but there are always people lurking around and parking can be tough around FV Bart.

Update following a new Orleans trip: We actually like their beignets much better than any beignets we tried in NOLA (even ones that involve long lines!!). The beignets at Powderface are more fluffy, involve less sugar wastage and the option of powdered cinnamon instead of sugar was a nice little touch!

Was really disappointed with my savory crepe but you should really just come here for the beignets! They totally lived up to the expectation... Been a staple for years. I loved dining here whenever I caught Bart and even when I didn't I still would stop here. Great beignets... sandwiches, beverages. Never an ill experience or exchange with customer service

Super friendly staff. Breakfast sandwich was good. Beignets were cold the first time but we asked for complained and they remade warm ones for us and it was great. Hot chocolate had too much vanilla flavor for our taste and was a bit watery. Regular coffee was just ok.

I ordered a box of beignet and the cashier stated that she was going to make my order but that next time I should be jere 15 minutes before closing . I understand everyone wanting to go home but it was an unnecessary answer . If she did not want to do the order she could have just simply said no .

She also lied and said the manager was out of town and when I asked when they would be back she said the manager wasn’t around. She then lied again and said she didn’t have paper and a pen to write the manager’s name even though it was sitting on right on the counter. So when I called her out she then said can’t provide water, then said she could for .50. Jokes.

At least put a sign on the door that you’re closing early. This is how to deter future customers. I wonder if management knows they closed down an hour early. They need to hire better people.
