The Cat House Oakland Reviews
Cool little bar. Glad I came in the middle of the day to beat the crowds. I'm sure this place gets packed. I meet an (the?) owner and she clearly cares a lot about stay she's doing. She even let me try a new drink they were developing which was freaking delicious!
Great atmosphere and decor. Friendly bartenders. Got extra cherries for my friend and myself. All I had to do was ask. 🙂
Knowledgeable and capable bartenders with an array of tasty and changing menu drinks that are as delicious as they are beautiful. Open late , much appreciated.
Really great drinks, calm atmosphere, and creative comfy seating.
Wonderful night out! The vibe was chill for a Thursday night, the drinks delicious, and shout out to the extra friendly staff who instantly made these out of towners feel welcomed. And verifying proof of vaccine made us feel extra safe so kudos to The Cat House! We'll definitely be back, and next time we'll bring the doggo!
The Cat House makes you feel at home with the cozy atmosphere and the dim lights it’s a bar to sit and relax and have more then one drink because time goes by so fast when you enjoying a good time.
Some of the best drinks in the area. They have expanded their outdoor patio.
Very eclectic spot to get drinks in Oakland. Their cocktail list is very creative and we we very pleased with our selections! They’re are very serious about their drinks and clearly take pride in their craft. They also have a good list of local beers on tap. We focused on trying their cocktails though. They don’t provide food, but allow you to bring outside food in. They have a few different seating options, from spots at the bar, to old school wood tables and chairs, to antique couches. Very cool, dark atmosphere! The cat art was a nice touch! FYI, there is a bouncer outside checking IDs and letting people in, so no one under 21 is allowed in.
The cat house is a nice watering hole with a understated chic design and chill vibe. The wine list if good and the beer selection is excellent and diverse. Overall a very good place to meet with friends or a date. It is not too loud and has a nice selection of sofas, tables and the bar to sit on. Bathrooms are new and clean.
Cool and laid back atmosphere. Met up with friends and chatted for hours while sipping on some good drinks! My name being Irene, of course I had to try Dear Irene and it was delicious😋.
This place was a pleasant surprise! Checked out this spot while meeting a friends and the Bartender and Devore was amazing! The Dear Irene is so good! I’d recommend it to everyone. It’s just a light refreshing cocktail
Really enjoyed this place. The staff is absolutely amazing here. I had some issues placing my order online and they were so responsive to helping me resolve the issue. The decor was beautiful, I mean look at that wall! According to the manager, one of staff members actually stenciled the wall herself! They have outdoor sitting which was in the back and felt like I was in a hidden garden; vines were on all walls of the back area. Pro tip, if you don’t like bitter drinks, don’t get the “Costume of the Day” which has amaro. The Amaro in it is quite bitter. Price wise, it’s pretty average for Oakland. Their wine was ~$8 which is on the cheaper side while their cocktails are ~$13. Overall, I would come back. Instagram: @florazambakari

Honestly love the vibes here especially in the back area. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is really cute
This place is a vibe. The house cocktail menu is well thought out and executed, and pretty reasonably priced.
Their cocktail, Dear Irene, needs acclaim and acknowledgment as one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. And I'm a tough critic. Not too sweet and so, so refreshing. If you don't drink alcohol, they make a Virgin Dear Irene and it's just as good.
Cute local place to grab a fun cocktail or beer. Good deals during happy hour, and the interior design is adorable and eclectic! Bartenders and staff are all very nice as well.
I struggled with whether to give this one star or five stars. It was great but then when my wife saw a charge from a Cat House on our credit card bill, she wanted a divorce. (Jk jk I didn’t have a wife) This place is great - somehow managed to be simultaneously classy and trashy in the best sense of both terms. Did feel a little let down to discover that there were no cats serving drinks however. The human bartender gave my friend and I free shots of fernet though, so that kind of makes up for it.

My favorite local Oakland bar. Good drinks! Great service! A small little patio in the back and a great vibe!

Having recently moved to the East Bay from Brooklyn, it's been slightly more challenging to find cocktails done right. The Cat House is one of the few places that delivers both classic cocktails, as well as their own original creations. And all in a casual, chill, well-decorated space.

Seems like a friendly neighborhood cocktail bar. I don't think they serve food but understand you can bring in outside food. Very laid back atmosphere.

Cool bar if you don't want a drink. Went on a Tuesday night and the bartenders were way too cool to actually work. Waited at the bar for about 10 minutes before realizing Heart and Dagger is definitely much faster. But if you're into getting ignored while trying to buy a drink, def recommend this place.
