I really loved the Lao Special menu. You can order small portion of diverse foods. I ordered several items I have never eaten before, and they were all fantastic. The fermented pork sausage was the most "out there" dish from an American point of view: I didn't even know such a thing existed. Nice interior, and the service is great. This is some of the best Laotian food I've tried in the Bay. It turns out the portions are pretty generous, so I took soke home for another meal.

The food here was great. It’s not fancy, or in a fancy neighborhood, but if you like food, it’s 5 stars. I had the Laotian stew, which was my favorite. I tried some new dishes and it was exciting! Thank you for your excellent service.

We ended up here by coincidence - a very happy one! They have a broad selection with many amazing options. The food was ready fairly quickly, we had it to go but you can also dine in in their cozy dining area. Friendly staff. The sticky mango dessert was absolutely delicious.

Flavorful, family-run Oakland Laotian restaurant with newly updated, nearly encyclopedic menu ensuring there’s something for everyone. Thai and Vietnamese options also available. Beef pho, solid with clean tasting broth and generous portions. Kao Soy noodle soup, while tasty, may be better at other places. Definite highlights: Lao sausage, yum! Order one per person minimum and enjoy in the herby citrus that cuts perfectly through the fat. Deep fried quails perfect as a gamey appetizer to share with friends. Papaya Salad - Lao style, funkier than the Thai version with anchovy as base. Nem Kao, crispy rice salad with pork, a unique blend of citrusy and herby flavors, wrapped in lettuce for added crunch. Angel wings, a familiar tasting standard. One of many Southeast Asian gems in East Bay.

A restaurant that proves two theories true: that Laotian cuisine is one of the world’s best, and that the tastiest food is almost never the prettiest. A meal to remember many moons from now, for $23.50. Order any of the Lao specialties from the menu’s first page.

Everything was delicious and authentic. No notes. Big fan of the thicker rice noodles in their style of fresh spring rolls. We ordered the yellow lamb curry. The meat fell apart and wasn’t dry at all, so amazing. Also the red curry fried salmon eggplant dish was delicious. The pieces of salmon were small and varied on dryness/moistness. Still yummy tho

Lots of people eat here but no one really knows about this spot. The staff is super friendly and fast. (They’re mostly northern Thai peeps hence the Laos menu items) Some of the best Thai/Laos food in Oakland, I ordered the Sai Oooa which is traditional sausage usually served with Som Tom (papaya salad) and sticky rice yassss delicious pork, lemongrass, garlicky yumminess (giving me life) -Go Get you some. The RadNa (beef n broccoli stir fry with wide rice noodles in a black sweet soy gravy) was just like ordering from a street vendor minus the broccoli n carrots. If you haven’t had Thai beef jerky, you’re missing out. This hidden gem is 2-3 min drive from high street.

Really great neighborhood spot for authentic Thai, Laotian, and Vietnamese dishes. Everything from the spring rolls to the soup to the drunken noodles, the sausage, the sticky rice... All delicious, and very fairly priced for the quality and quantity. Was recommended by my relative who lives nearby, and we will definitely be back!

Unique experience and extensive menu. Food was flavorful, we had the meat soup, beef stew and pad-se ew. Everything was delicious and there's so much more to try on the menu. The hardest part is actually picking what to try in the massive menu. If everything is as good as what we had, this place is a legit diamond in the rough. It feels and tastes authentic while clearly being on the cheap side. Will come back for more! Update: I did come back for more and was once again blown away by the dishes. The soups are to die for, cannot recommend this place enough !

Very good Thai / Lao food. Parking can be a little challenging at night. We always get the Nam Khao - rice ball salad.

If you want authentic Lao food, look no further! I highly recommend their Lao Papaya Salad, Lao BBQ Chicken, Lao Sausage, Mok Pa (streamed fish with herbs wrapped in banana leaf), Nam Khao (fried rice ball salad), and don’t forget to pair it all with some Sticky Rice! Their noodle soups are great too, especially their Khao Soi and Khao Piak. Friendly mom and pop vibes, located at the intersection of a neighborhood.

Vientiane Café is a solid spot for flavorful Laotian cuisine. The dishes are fresh, well-seasoned, and generous in portion. The service is friendly, though it can be a bit slow during busy hours. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great choice for a relaxed meal with friends or family.

Been a regular here for 15 years and I get excited any time I can come back. I now live pretty far from here but still make the trek to dine here. Pro tip: bring friends so you can order and try more food. Don’t miss: Laotian sausage Papaya salad (Thai is my favorite but you can get Lao style as well. When they say spicy, they mean it) Nam khao (best I’ve ever had) Tom Yum Pumpkin curry with salmon. I actually love all the curries. Kao soy - spicy ground pork soup with cabbage. Yum! Pickled mustard greens Mok Pa - steamed fish with lemongrass

Small place, crowded but cozy. Great price and delicious food.

Google this place on our way home. Service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed the Thai tea the most from our order, it was decent and herbal enough. The large papaya was sadly too salty and small for $11. The $3 sausage was good. The pad Thai was more wet than my liking and wasn't as flavorful. This place is decent and ok for Thai food. Not the best but also not the worst. No dine in only takeout.

Authentic Laotian food, in a family location. Be adventurous and try new dishes. Of special note ate the lao side dishes. The jeo bong, jeo pa dack and jeo make len. Definitely try the mok gai. Service is fast and very friendly. There's usually parking on the side streets.

I went there on July 15th. Ordered some food. I FOUND A PIECE OF BROKEN GLASS in my food! a FREAKING BROKEN GLASS PIECE. I went to the waiter & told her about the problem. She apologized and offered to get me a replacement order. I was so disappointed but i didn't want to create a scene. So i threw away the food. I even thought of suing the restaurant because NOBODY WANTS A BROKEN PIECE OF GLASS IN THEIR FOOD, not even by accident, big enough to rip apart your intestines! i couldn't eat in peace for days due to that traumatic experience.

We were regular patrons of this restaurant. We ate in with our family. They were incredibly rude and not accommodating of having a child at a neighborhood restaurant. We will never order or eat at this restaurant again and if you have children I encourage you to do the same. We dont need neighborhood restaurants that do not accommodate families.
