We initially arrived in Jalatlaco looking for a place to take some friends who were visiting. Everywhere we looked said they were closed. Luckily, we saw a lot of people outside a cenaduria (a type of Mexican dinner), so we got in line and ordered a tlayuda with tasajo (dried beef). Wow, what a surprise! It was truly delicious, very generously filled with meat. The service was excellent and fast, and the prices were more than fair. I definitely recommend it if you're passing through Jalatlaco and want to try authentic Oaxacan food; this is the place.

The food is sooooo delicious and the service is excellent. I had a spectacular pozole and the beef tostadas were delicious and reasonably priced. Arrive on time because there's a line.

The best place to eat in Oaxaca. A friend who'd been there for a few days invited me to go, and I fell in love. Everything was delicious, and even the music and decor made me feel at home. For my next trip, this will be my nightly pilgrimage site!

Their tlayudas were delicious, some of the best I've ever had. The staff was very friendly and always attentive to our needs. Definitely an excellent place to go alone or with family. Plus, the service was very fast.

1000 out of 10! It's an excellent place to eat traditional Oaxacan food. Everything was delicious, as we ordered several dishes. The service was top-notch, with incredible staff. The restaurant is beautiful, located in the Jalatlaco neighborhood. Excellent prices, and they accept cards, bank transfers, and cash. The wait time can vary, but it's completely worth it. Very good prices, and you can see the menu from outside while you wait. It's recommended not to linger after your meal if you see other people waiting. We will definitely be back.

Cenaduría El Atrio was our very first meal in Oaxaca — we came on a Wednesday night and it was absolutely worth the wait. Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We were seated without any rush, and treated with kindness until the very end of our meal. While waiting, we struck up a conversation with some locals who were also in line — they spoke very highly of the restaurant and shared that it has a long-standing reputation in the community for its quality and consistency. That only made us more excited to eat there. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, tucked just off the busier streets, making it feel like a hidden gem. The menu features traditional Oaxacan comfort food, and everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. We especially appreciated how the staff took the time to explain dishes we weren’t familiar with, which made our first dining experience in Oaxaca even more memorable. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions, and the service was both attentive and genuine. If you're looking to enjoy real local cuisine in a welcoming setting, Cenaduría El Atrio is a perfect place to start your culinary journey in Oaxaca.

Very tasty. It's usually packed, but there's little wait time. I like the tlayudas, chileajo tostadas, and punch. It still maintains a neighborhood feel despite gentrification in Jalatlaco. It's resilient, and the prices are fair for Oaxacans. Very good service.

I loved it! I went on a Friday at 8:00 pm and they gave us a table super fast. The tlayudas were 10, reasonably priced, with delicious salsas and a good size. I tried the tostadas and the gringas, and they were also very good. The only thing I didn't like much were the tortas. The horchata water was delicious. The food was really good at a very good price. Recommended.

Tlayudas, tostadas, and tortas with local flavor at a great price. I'm staying at City Centro and this place is right across the street. I couldn't resist trying the tlayudas for dinner. Seeing that it was in a garage, I thought, "This is a good place," and I wasn't wrong. I ordered a mixed tlayuda with chilejo and a delicious oat horchata (it has pieces of walnut). I've included a picture of what I ordered. The service was excellent; they were very attentive and explained how they make their chilejo. They're a very nice family.

Absolutely fantastic micheladas on Dia de Muertos. The guy kept topping me up with more beer. The hospitality was top notch. 🫶🏼

A delicious place for homemade food: tacos, tortas, tasajos (all grilled). They also offer fresh water, coffee, punch, and other goodies... mmmm! A family business. They're very friendly. It's located in the Jalatlaco area near the basilica. Highly recommended!

This is a true local's spot! Wonderful vibe, staff, and food. Skip some of the fancier restaurants in the hood and come here for a local experience. You won't be disappointed by the quality of the atmosphere, food and people. My best experience so far (but I was with locals so try to make some friends first to come with).

"El Atrio" Diner 👌🏽 You absolutely must have dinner at least once in your life at this quaint spot in the Jalatlaco neighborhood. From the first time we went, it became one of our favorite places for several reasons: the delicious food 👌🏽, the variety of Oaxacan snacks and dishes they offer 😋, the ambiance that makes you feel like you're in a neighborhood, a tenement (unlike all the other places to eat around here), and especially the friendliness—the young women who serve you are so sweet ❤️. Even though they prepare everything fresh, we didn't have to wait long, and the place is perfect for a good conversation. There's not a single thing on the menu that's not delicious, but we especially recommend the tostadas... wow, everything! The grasshopper, pork cheese, and chicken ones were amazing 🤤 Honestly, considering they're in the heart of Oaxaca's most popular neighborhood, their prices were surprisingly reasonable, and when you consider how delicious everything was, wow, it's definitely worth it 👌🏽

Excellent place for dinner, located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Oaxaca, next to the Jalatlaco church. Very hygienic, high-quality dishes, and delicious flavor... 100% recommended...

If you come on a weekend night, bring a lot of patience. It took over an hour to get a table and serve us. We stayed because my wife wanted pozole. I was craving some tortas, but they were really simple. I tried the pozole, and if I'd known, I would have ordered a pozole; it's delicious. The pork cheese tortas and the enchilada cecina were bland. The roasted onions they give you were delicious with lemon. I recommend the pozole. And bring a lot of patience. I would go back for the pozole, but I wouldn't have waited as long as I did the first time I came. Very affordable prices.

I waited half an hour to get in and another half hour for my food. They gave me cold atole. They didn't have pozole or tacos. The place is cheap, but at the cost of an hour-long wait. This place shouldn't exist; it's a joke. If they can't serve customers, they should close!
