Osaka's Odessa Reviews
Monica was our server, she has been our server in other occasions. Always providing a great service, very attentive towards our needs as we dine. Thx
The food is so great there. The service was spectacular. Its expensive but so worth it cause its big portions . definitely recommend and we will definitely go again
Great service. Our server, Stivy, was very kind, friendly, and answered our questions clearly. Will definitely be coming back.
Great service and good atmosphere. Food is not worth the price though. I don’t know how I meal with appetizer and drink could be $80.
The best restuarant me and my husband have been to in a long time. Please stay around Osaka. The staff is amazing and the food its so delicious and fresh. We will always come back here for date nights or special occasions
I'm not a big Japanese steakhouse fan, but I went as a favor to a friend.... What a nice surprise. This place is fantastic! Great flavor. Perfectly cooked! Tender steak, scallops were amazing.
This is my new birthday go to. I've been here twice in the last 5 months and every time it's been fantastic. The service is amazing, both times the waiter and waitress were very attentive, kind, pleasing, and very communicative. When I asked for their opinion, they gave it honestly. You are given a small cup of warm broth w shredded carrots, scallions and mushrooms that is just wonderful, pleasing and comforting on a cold evening. If you ask for more there's no hesitation. The sushi is freash every time and the apple sake is dangerously good, very smooth. If you've never tried it, get the apple in a big bottle, you won't be disappointed. Unless if dry, burning, terrible flavor is what you like, then you won't like this. So far of all the sushi I've tried, the Tiger roll, Spider roll, Katana roll, Poland roll, and the Viva Las Vegas roll are my favorites. I have not tried the Hibachi grill dinners yet but plan too. The atmosphere is beautiful and elegant.
Drinks game is strong. They’ve got a full bar stocked with creative cocktails, One of their specialty martinis was legitimately one of the best I’ve had lately. The bartenders definitely know what they’re doing mixes are fresh, presentation is clean, taste is on point without being overpowered. Definitely “bomb” drinks.
Stivy was very fast and recommend a plate for a vegetarian person thanks so much!!
Not sure if this was intentional or a normal practice at this place...the waitress handed us the bill on their hand held device and had the highest tip already selected. I prefer to select that myself. In my mind that is not the definition of customer service.
Order steak and chicken teriyaki which were good. The service was good as well, cookers and servers were really attentive to our needs. Overall a good experience for a large family celebrating a birthday party.
It was a great experience for our first time. The food was good and so was the service. My only complaint was the table for 4 was really small.
Osaka was a Kool experience. I know it's on the Upper class side of town, so it's not cheap. I was prepared though💰😁. Now the service was really good, wait staff was attentive and brought me a Japanese beer really quick, it was good🍻🍻! I ordered the three meat stir fry with the fish. Everything was fresh, rice was good, definitely not the best stir fry rice but good overall. The steak was like a 7, I has all the meat chicken shrimp etc I did enjoy the show and the meal. A little high on price yea I expected that but I think it's higher then it should be. It was a good experience for maybe like once a year. I'd definitely go back on occasionally. I'd definitely suggest for a special event or a nice date night!
The service and atmosphere was good. Everyone's food came out cold to our table, we didn't sit in the hibachi area. For the price, (around $140 for my wife and myself) you'd think we'd get the best food we've ever eaten. Overall, really disappointed. Probably won't go back.
We’ve been to Osaka multiple times and always had a great experience. The hibachi is great, however this time we decided to try the sushi, and unfortunately we didin’t have a great experience. Presentation is not something I care about too deeply, just as long as a meal looks decent I’m satisfied. However, this presentation really didn’t look great. The sushi was lukewarm, and falling apart. I’d suggest checking fridges at the sushi bar to make sure the fish is stored at the right temperature. The other sushi roll we finished we just ate to not let it go to waste since the roll has cream cheese and even that cream cheese what room temperature. The tempura rolls we got as appetizers were not good also, they were very greasy. If you go to Osaka please keep it Hibachi and no more. Hopefully we don’t get food poisoning from the warm fish. But I’ll update yall in a couple of days! Our waitress was still kind and the manager worked to take the dish off the tab. As we only touched two pieces of it and send it back.
I liked the atmosphere, high ceilings and tasteful decor. Small bar selections and not very impressive, but that could be because I’m not a Crown or Jack drinker, small beer selection as well. We sat at a regular table since the hibachi tables were full. The tepanyaki meals were good with lots of flavor and fresh. Started with a nice beef broth. The sushi menu was small and non-descriptive. We ordered one roll that was deep fried. It was okay, not great. The server was friendly but didn’t ask a lot of questions and didn’t take away dirty plates unless asked, which really annoys me. I am ex-service industry and might be a bit more particular. But he was friendly enough and we had everything we needed. My dad lives nearby, so he’ll be back. I’ll pass.
Shame this place dropped all the little things. Chef was awesome, waiter last couple times is horrible. Take drink order , take meal order, never seen again. They don’t give you the classic two square sauce dishes. Don’t give salads just soup. Don’t give the 2 shrimp, when the soup came out whole table was looking for spoons. When I asked he Seemed offended we asked for a spoon. “ saying in Japan they drink from the bowl. They don’t use spoons” Mean while every other person in the place has a spoon. Secondly we are in Odessa. When we asked chef for yum yum sauce he got on a walkie talkie and some bus boy brought us little plastic Togo sauce cups. Then again for ginger sauce. This was not the same yum yum. It was a spicy mayo or something weird. For a $100 + meal you would think they would step it up. Probably my last time going. Just giving fair warning… We just want the classic hibachi experience. Do better Osaka.
We are regulars here with our 3 small children, however today we took the 3 of them for lunch and we experienced the worst food and service. We’ve been customers for over 15 years and will not be returning. You pay for the experience. However, we were unable to communicate with the waitress or chef as they did not speak English. The kids enjoy the entertainment aspect but when the chef didn’t say a word because of a language barrier it isn’t worth the price. The kids wanted the interaction, the tricks, the rice to be thrown & the jokes. It was over 250$ for a family of 5. And we couldn’t communicate with the people serving us. Also, the temptation roll is a family favorite.. today the shrimp tasted awfully fishy, like it had gone bad even. The food had zero flavor. The kids love the noodles… they were mush today. The rice was flavorless even though there’s an up charge for fried rice and the tilapia and shrimp, I didn’t eat. Because it smelled and tasted JUST SO BAD. 0/10. First things first, Hire people who speak English. This place is about “the experience” and I’ll pay for it! But not what we received today. Going downhill, fast! Also my kids chicken teriyaki, had a weird flavor as well.. and texture. It was all SO BAD!
If you’re not a reader just know it’s DISGUSTING and OVERPRICED. I do not recommend that you eat here!!!! I wholeheartedly believe anywhere else in Midland/Odessa is a better choice. The ambience is very nice and upscale feeling, so we had expectations that the whole experience would match, sadly it did not. To start off the soup tastes like powdered bullion with some added acidity. The sushi (VIP Roll) was good, I just find $20.99 a roll a bit outrageous for something that isn’t extra special. And then on to the hibachi meals- the menu is quite confusing and repetitive with the same thing being priced differently in different spots. Also, everything seemed to be an additional cost, for example, to have the steamed rice included in your hibachi plate switched to fried is extra. What!?!? Where does fried rice not come with your hibachi plate? The side salad was the smallest I’ve ever seen (photos includes, but it was also served in a cone cup so it appears larger) I had one piece of celery, lettuce, and the shredded carrots on top.. that was it. Our meals were horrible. We ordered medium steak and it was charred and cooked until completely dry. The teriyaki chicken (which was the only chicken I saw on the whole menu) was way too sweet and the chicken pieces were little crumbles. The scallops were burnt flavored and didn’t flake at all. I think the best way to describe the texture is like a jelly/rubber feel. We couldn’t cut it with a fork. The side veggies should have just been called zucchini and onions because that’s all it was. Our server was not present. We spend a lot of time waiting for him. We spent over $100 before tip on dinner for two with no drinks. Twice what we ordinarily spend, in this area, on a comparable (but much better) meal!
