At Waikiki Hawaiian Grill, we're passionate about serving up a taste of aloha in Orange. We take pride in our unique flavors and affordable prices, with daily specials under $8 that won't break the bank. Waikiki Hawaiian Grill is praised for its delicious food and unique flavors, especially the daily specials under $8. However, one reviewer reported consistently rude and unpleasant service from the cashier, which negatively impacted their experience.
Tip: Take advantage of the daily food specials for meals under $8.
Absolutely hit the spot! We ordered the chicken katsu and the barbecue chicken & beef combo, and everything was fantastic. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired so well with the sauce. The BBQ chicken was tender and full of that sweet, smoky flavor, and the beef was just as delicious - super flavorful and cooked just right. Portions were generous, the food came out hot and fresh, and it really felt like comfort food done right. Definitely coming back next time we're craving Hawaiian barbecue!
It's my first time trying this place. As a fan of katsu chicken, their chicken was really good with the pineapple sauce. The cost was a little bit higher than average for this type of place, but the portions are also really good and you'll likely eat this in 2 meals. I went at a time no one else was there and didn't talk much to the cashier since I was reading the digital menu, but he seemed kind. I wasn't sure what to expect besides chicken and rice, but it was nice that it came as a meal versus places I've went to where they just give you a small bowl with rice and a few pieces of chicken.
Most delicious! Came in on a Friday afternoon. Nice staff, wait was not very long, portions are big. Prices are fair . Ordered the family meal feeds four , got BBQ Chicken, Chicken Katsu and BBQ Beef also added a side of Fried Shrimp. Will be back for sure.
Love it
Good teriyaki food
Excellent food
Very good tasty food and friendly service
All the Hawaiian food is is great and so is the pricing.
The best teriyaki around... 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Mi kids love it
Great food & service!
WOULD recommend supper goood!!!
Great place food service
One of my favorite spots
Super Fast, and best Hawaiian food I’ve had in Orange County!
Love the Kaula Pork w/cabbage and their Spam Fried Rice.
Barbecue chicken, rice, and macaroni salad was absolutely incredible- will be coming back.
Love love love this place! Hands down best macaroni salad for miles and miles
Good fresh food with very nice service.
Great food and the staff are very friendly
Food was good so was the price for the quantity.
Great food! Very good.
Food was really good and staff was really nice. I recommend !
Delicious food and variety. Great help
Great food, great portions, always busy, popular with locals.
Great food will definitely go back again
Best hawaiian grill around. The food was amazing abd the staff was nice.
The food here is very tasty 😋 I recommend the teriyaki chicken.
The food is delicious and hot. You must try there barbecue sauce!!!
My go to place for Hawaiian food when in orange..tasty,large portions..affordable
Great food with good proportion
Love the bbq chicken. Great flavor, generous portions. Enough for two meals, or to share a meal.
My favorite Hawaiian bbq place especially their garlic shrimp
There's only walk-in no calling ahead the information on maps phone number is wrong. The food is excellent The restrooms are closed and the dining room is closed.
Friendly service, great food, generous proportions, you definitely get more bang for your buck.
This place just don't stop. Every single time I go in there. I leave full. Not a bad thing to say..... waaaaait. During the summer. It gets rather hot in there. Imagine that hot in the summer. Lol this place is great. Period.
Great food and large portions for the price. Also, some reviewers have complained about the service but I go here pretty often and have never had an issue.
I think it deserves a better rating than 3.8 . When I got a chicken teriyaki bowl the chicken was moist and tasted good. More people should give it a chance, it was pretty empty.
Love me some good Hawaiian BBQ and this is my favorite in Orange. The owner is super nice as well which adds to the overall experience. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.
Very good portions, the food is made to order so there is a small wait but it's definitely worth it. The place is big and comfortable to sit and enjoy your food.
This place serves the best Hawaiian food! Their Hawaiian BBQ chicken is extremely tender and juicy. I love their lunch specials as they are affordable and the portion size is large enough to cover lunch with left overs for dinner. The staff is super friendly, personable and prompt. I have been coming here for years and always had a great experience to include when I pre-order party platters for gatherings. I've tried other Hawaiian food spots and this one wins for quality, flavor and customer service hands down!
Decent place I wouldn't say it's the best food but it's definitely clean
Peter & Matt are the best! Food is amazing and they are quick! Best HBBQ out there!
I have been eating at Waikiki for a decade and have never been disappointed! I feel guilty not having written them a review until now because they are so good. I’ve moved out of orange county but get food from here every time I visit. My go to favorites are the chicken katsu, bbq chicken, and Maui pineapple chicken! The chicken is always super delicious and tender. And they always remember to replace the mac and cheese with double rice for me because I’m lactose intolerant.
This is the best Hawaiian food spot so far the macaroni is top tier! I LOVE their Katsu and garlic shrimp! Plus the workers are fantastic and have amazing service especially the cashier Matt! He's so kind and does a wonderful job with customer service! I love this place I recommend it!!

We hav enjoyed Waikiki Hawaiian Grill on the regular. Super close at bottom hill at Meats/Tustin interaction in Orange 🍊 Villa Center. Very well maintained and kept. Comfortable atmosphere and is usually rather quiet. Fantastic Go2 eatery - Tasty, Timely, & always Priced right 👍 Pork Spare Ribs 🍖 with house sauce & glutenous white rice is excellent 👌 Lots of comfort food options. Hawaiian cuisine & favorites well represented. Many offerings have spam and eggs 🥚 in dish or is the dish. No matter what we always get a few orders of the Crab 🦀 Rangoon (6 pieces & request sauces) w/ loads of crab meat! Again, house red sauce is Stellar! Tastes more sweet & zingy than sour so it tastes great on everything. Potstickers steamed or cooked other ways upon request. Staff is happy to help with menu. Katsu 🐔 Chicken is nice and moist while encrusted well. Teriyaki chicken or beef bowls 🍜 with rice 🌾 & vegetables always hot the spot. Staff is outstanding. Been goin many years and they definitely take pride in customer satisfaction. Take-out is great...super smooth and incredibly fast 👍 ADA Compliance is great. Big doors open to large main room with many tables w/ wide aisles. Large space for ordering is on lower level counter near cash register. Much easier to see menu. Hav handouts as well. The soft drink 🥤 section has lots 3 sizes of sodas, juices, sports drinks, iced tea., water , more. Very convenient if in wheelchair ♿ or handicapable like me ( both legs amputeed). Staff really goes out of way to assist. Certainly know my take out or delivery order by heart. Pricing is heck of a value. Highly Recommend for quick lunch or dinner. Defly gotta try the house red sauce. Not spicy...but sure is delicious on everything. Enjoy.
The workers are friendly and The food is always fresh because it's made to order I love the beef and chicken plate with a side of macaroni salad
The food it's good
Their food is always, best Hawaiian around us.
Good food and service but lackluster location
Food is good but a little expensive.
Food is always good and cheap here! I love it.
Had the Katsu Chicken it was good but could use some better quality chicken.
Great Hawaiian food. Not fancy but great food.
Great tasting chicken #1 the macaroni salad is so good you have to get a 2nd scoop.
Continues to be good food and we have been eating there for quite some time
Good food, service a little slow. Best to call ahead
Loved my food. Was freshly cooked and tender.
Great Lunch Specials and good food. Could use an update rest
Consistently good food. Inexpensive. Go for the garlic shrimp.
Very busy at lunch.. lots of parking.. the Teriyaki Chicken was excellent.. the mini-lunch portion is more than enough..
Kalua pork with cabbage is one of the best I have had. It has a touch of smokiness that rocks it. The teriyaki chicken is really good. I love their potstickers. We have picked up their catering trays for multiple occasions and our crowd loves the food. Their customer service is just ok, the food is great. Oddity. They will not cook short ribs for a catering tray. This is such a good dish that it is disappointing. My son gave me a bite of his fried fish and it was really good - crunchy, not greasy, not dry.
Always phenomenal food with (almost) always impeccable staff. There have been some occasions in the past where the service left something to be desired, but in my last several visits they’ve been amazing. I have a picky eater at home and they always make his order correct the first time (a major deal for those of us with picky-putz’s at home!) Their Mac salad is BOMB and the teriyaki chicken is always above reproach. We haven’t tried anything else, and the prices are a bit high, but Give em a go, you won’t be disappointed!!!
Dining room is open. Cute decor. Seems clean. Can't go wrong with the chicken katsu lunch special. Only thing is, I wish there was some music in the dining area. Waiting for my to go order, it was a little awkwardly silent...
Okay, not my favorite teriyki chicken.
Food was great, but the cashier was very rude!
Food is good great price cashier RUDE!! gives attitude rolls her eyes and not very welcoming
Food was ok, the Chicken Katsu was a bit chewy but good for the price
Good food just a shame they don't sell what is on the menu
The food was good, but the wait time was excessive, especially considering I was the only customer in the restaurant. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to fill one order.
The food is good but they do not have some of the standard food you would expect.
The food is really good the customer service not so great but again the food is worth it.
Good food but overpriced. Lacks good customer service. Best time to go is before 2:30pm since they have a $5.99 lunch special till then.
The food is great the service suck the one in Santa Ana is way better great service great price and great quality. This location is over priced as well ever since they got a new owner HORRIBLE never again will i come to this location ill just stick to my usual location in Santa Ana on 1st street were they have specials and not over priced and great service !!!!
Over priced and the chicken I received in my order was overcooked. The place feels like it's never really cleaned. There was not a line so the wait time was short but the staff was watching TV and did not seem to care about the place.
Over priced
Not a fan food was rubbery and no taste
Food is good but man the service sucks
Good food . Cashiers need PR lessons though. Rude . God like attitude.
Customer service is as bad as it gets. Girls are rude , make you feel like they are doing you a favor. Food is good
Very disappointed. Waited 45 minutes for my food (which wasnt that great) as I watched all the people that came in after me get their food. I could understand if they were busy but they didnt get busy even slightly until after the 2 guys I came with already got their orders. 7 people who ordered after me got their food and left before I finally had to get up to complain before they even made my food. I'll have to go somewhere else to get my Hawaiian bbq. I would recommend others do the same if they want good food and good service. They were not even willing to say sorry. Dont know if I should have even gave them 2 stars.
Spicy chicken wasn't spicy. Mac is better at other places. Crab Rangoon was bland and over fried. Other places are better. Hard to talk over loud exhaust fans. The teriyaki chicken came out luke warm.
Very very rude cashier/ order taker. Every time I go, all the girls have bad attitudes. Food is delicious, but they seriously need to get a cheery cashier and stop talking or flirting with the cooks.
Looking to try new Hawaiian bbq places. Unfortunately this place highly disappointed. Disappointing portions. Disappointing service. $16.45 for bbq beef $12.95 for Katie chicken before tax. Higher priced than Aloha Hawaiian bbq. Definitely won’t be coming here again. Take your money and go elsewhere. Check out photos I posted to look at the portions.
The food used to be good. But something has changed. The meat had more veins than anything else. I got the BBQ mix and the ribs where mostly bone, the noodles where missing flavor any flavor, it was just manaseand noodles. The meat had so many veins that it was like eating a string of pearls. I actually chocked on a peice of meat. It was a very disappointing meal.
Food was great however the skinny mexican light skin cashier provided terrible customer service
They did not update their open times. I’m sitting here having to wait for them to open up.
No name tags ... Rude as hell but food is good.. Customer service and a cheaper price will make people stop going to ll bbq.. Theirs nothing islander about this place.. Dirty ass cashier needs an attitude check and a smile
The food is Good but a realy bad costumer service.
Nope. Craving a rice bowl and because most of the places I go to are like Flame Broiler, Waba, and other Hawaiian Grills in my own city, I thought this would be good too. All i tasted was grease. I got hawaiian rice and crab rangoons. Grease actually poured out of the rangoons. I spent $18 for lunch and couldn't even eat a quarter of it. Kept it for my husband and he couldn't even stand the smell. Trashed. Just go to Subway if you're over there.
The cashier needs a better attitude. She is very rude. Should look for a different job if she doesn't want to work there instead of treating your customers like that.
Food isn’t as great as they use to cook it they used to serve a good quantity. Now they serve very little. And the actual place is dirty .Floors and tables. And not only that they are way overpriced. Compared to other Hawaiian bbq places spent 32$ on two plates very little food and Without drinks to go Smh will NOT be coming back And rude customer service when ordering
Having recently moved to Orange I was excited to see there was a Hawaiian place nearby. We walked in at 832pm, having never been here before, and the woman behind the counter said they stop frying at 830pm after we attempted to order the Katsu... SERIOUSLY, 2 MINUTES?! WOWWW, I will never be coming back to try this place. You don't get a second chance at a first impression. Hugely disappointing.
I am sorry but if I am going to buy two combos I would want more then one BBQ sauce with my meal. This place won't even allow you to buy extra sauce. This is the last time we order from here And the girl up front is rude.
Beyond poor customer service. Called over a dozen of time to place order no answer. Waited 25 minutes for food. Karla and the cook definitely need some help
Horrible place called while been outside even tho they close at 8 told me they couldn’t take my order lo what I’m sure if we call the better Bureau restaurant if ur open till 8 ur open till 8 n if i want to place food order n I’m outside u should be able too never walked in and after phone experience never will u try n support small business n then u deal with this bs very sad
Oh man... this place used to be my go-to back in the day. I'm not sure what happened, but it has gone downhill pretty aggressively. At first, it was the fact that nobody answered the phone, I called and called this place, and hardly someone answered. So I ended up going there and ordering the food. Now, this isn't a huge deal, but the problem then goes to the worker, who each time I show up is on their phone ( not kidding). Yes, I am aware that sometimes you need to check your phone, but what a coincidence it is that each time I went there, the worker was on his phone. Yet somehow, nobody answered the business phone. Also, the food hasn't been that great either. Again, I am not sure why? The flavor isn't what it used to be, and the quality of the protein has gotten a bit tougher or even flavorless. I have been going here for at least a decade now. But ever since I think maybe 2 -3 years ago. This place sucks. Nah sucks is an understatement, this place is trash now.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Some of the worst chicken and beef I've had. Overcooked and just no flavor. The macaroni salad was abysmal with no flavor. Mushy noodle and it was watered down. Avoid this place.
I called multiple times on my way over with not a single answer. I figured they must be busy to not be able to answer the phone but when I arrived there was only one other customer waiting for his food. Even with only two orders in it took more than thirty minutes to get my food. The cashier was nice and seemed to be doing his job but the guy working the grill kept finding time to go check his phone in a spot just out of sight of the cameras. I do enjoy the food here but it seems the staff rather check their personal messages than run the restaurant effectively. While awaiting my order I even saw as they were able to get an order out for a buddy but not for the customers waiting on their orders.
