Bistro 197

We had a delicious meal here when we were in town for a wedding! Staff was super kind and the restaurant is nicely decorated / laid out. We had The Bistro Burger and the Steak Sandwich and both were great!

We were a party of 5, food, drinks, and deserts were all 5 star. Portions were large and our waitress was top notch. We couldn't have hoped for a better meal and service.

Food was excellent and service was also great. Prices were a little high, but portions were large enough for two meals. I was impressed that Oswego had such an upscale restaurant with a gourmet chef.

We had a wonderful lunch today at Bistro 197. The food was delicious with generous portions. We had the salmon and the risotto. The server could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The owner checked in to see how we were doing. We had a window seat and watched the snow fall. Great experience. Highly recommended.

We are so grateful to the staff and management of Bistro 197! We hosted my father-in-law's celebration of life memorial luncheon there in August. From day one of planning the event, the manager (Bill) was super responsive and accommodating, especially when our numbers grew from 25 to nearly 45! We ended up taking over the whole restaurant! The food was amazing, portions generous, and the wait staff so kind and helpful!

We had a group of 7, we got a reservation immediately. Everything we tried on the menu blew us away. The bartender knows what's she's doing and you can tell she's passionate with her work. If your in the neighborhood and looking for incredible food that is competitively priced. You must stop.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner at Bistro 197! The menu was enticing and very clearly labeled dishes that met different dietary restrictions (gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian). The portions were generous in their size and big on flavor! The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Thank you for a great meal!

Food Fried Catfish dish was better than I expected from a restaurant in the north. 7.5/10 Fried calamari Think they were trying to do too much. Not a fan of pesto bathed calamari. 5/10 Grilled Meatloaf This was amazing and you must try it. Everything tasted great in the dish and complimented each other well. 9/10 Carmel lava cake Was good reminded me of a thick pancake with homemade whip cream and Carmel as the syrup. 8/10 All of these were great big portions all worth the price.

Although our entrees were good, I was disappointed that although the menu provided for a garden salad for several of our entrees they were not provided. Also, the side offered with the salmon entree was French fries. That certainly seems like an inappropriate choice for a health conscious entree. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed and not particularly attentive. One of the entrees did not arrive until the rest of our party was more than half finished with our entrees. Not until I went into the kitchen to ask the waitress did that meal get delivered. This was my third visit to this restaurant and it was certainly not up to the standards of my first two visits.

It was his birthday and luckily everything else was good but I think maybe they needed warmers for the food or something.

Went for brunch Sunday. Potatoes were uncooked, Grilled brussel sprouts were burnt, the biscuits with the gravy were also burnt and couldn’t eat the biscuits, sausage gravy was very good. The service was EXCELLENT. The chef needs to do better, for sure.

If you are going to the bar… its awesome Good drinks and great service plus live music was fun (great original cocktails) Until we moved sides it was a great place The restaurant side was very disappointing, poor service and very slow getting our food… took 20 min just to bring us water after we got our menus and asked for it… food was quite ordinary… fish and chips and a burger should not take over an hour Over 1h30 between us sitting down and getting our meal… we were hoping it would be a least good but not at all (cold fries and oily fish in batter) at least it was inexpensive On top of it all, very cocky owner who could only saw hello to local friends, not even acknowledge other guests… Im guessing that out of town money isnt any good for him

He told me that the kitchen closed at 8 pm. I said that's fine. Just make it up and put it aside. This is where I got confused. He said that's not the problem. The kitchen closes at 8 pm. He said I could try and make. I told him to just cancel. I would have been there 8:30 - 8:40 pm. It's posted they're open to 9 pm.
