Bar Marios Paladín Reviews
We stumbled into this on a day trip to Red Hook and we fell in love with Bar Mario. It was the combination of the top notch, very hospitable service and the fact that every dish and drink we ordered was incredible. The meatballs and giant pumpkin ravioli were heavenly. Even the owner came over and asked us how our meal was, that is the level of service you get at this place. It was immediately clear how much they care about your experience here. Also, the vibe is really cute/charming in here. I am dying to go back!!
I went to the soft opening of Bar Mario and it was such a great time I had to go back asap! It is super cozy and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The brunch frittata special was delightful and you cannot go wrong with any of their pastas. Also, if you don't drink, they make pretty impressive mocktails! This is a great addition to the neighborhood and I can't wait to go back!
We haven’t had food here yet. Sitting at the bar was great. Service is great and the entire place is very, very clean. We will definitely visit more often.
Bar Mario has been on our list for a while. Glad we got to step in. The staff were super warm and welcoming, especially Natalie!! We sat at the bar and enjoyed our conversation with her along with some of the specials and recommendations for the night. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, so delicious and comforting. Highly recommend the lasagna. A lovely spot, so happy we finally got to try. Will be back soon!
Bar Mario holds my number one spot amongst the great restaurant/bar scene Red Hook has to offer. The staff is down to earth and extremely welcoming. sitting at the bar typically leads to a nice conversation either with fellow patrons or the staff themselves. What really pushes it over the edge for me is the consistency in quality of the food. I would recommend ordering the Ceaser salad followed by one of the seasonal specials and ending your visit with the tiramisu.
amazing atmosphere, bartender was kind and quick. got some pasta and it was cooked perfectly. would recommend this place for a date night or a casual meal
Superb spot. The food is out of the world: we had steak for two, cesar salad and vegetable side. Everything was very delicious and top notch. The bartender is delightful and knows her stuff. Red Hook has very few restaurants and this is a top one for me in the area.
Such a nice atmosphere, and thoughtfully put together decor, a great playlist, and the space felt familiar, intimate and welcoming. Natalie was a lovely and knowledgeable server. We had the pork shoulder which was so tender, and the rigatoni with bacon was divine also. And we followed Natalie’s rec for the butter crust pie and we were so happy we did, the owner created it and it’s delish!
I have now been to Bar Mario several times, and it is absolutely worth a 5-star review. First, the ambience is terrific. It’s not a huge restaurant (so I would make a reservation): a few 2- and 4-seat high tops, maybe 6 or 7 tables, and a bar with about 10 seats. But the environment is warm and cozy, with low lighting and music loud enough to enjoy, soft enough to have conversations with your party, the bartender, or whoever else. The servers are all excellent. Very charming and friendly. They check in often, but not in an intrusive way. I’ve also seen the owner walking around, greeting customers, and talking with his staff. He’s always around, and he’s a friendly presence. There’s such a great neighborhood vibe here - there are definitely some regulars here, and it helps create a homey atmosphere. The food here is outstanding. I have not had a bad dish here. The Caesar salad is actually made with several long stalks of romaine, so it stays crisp. The meatballs come with polenta around the plate, and it is fantastic. I’ve also had the hangover spaghetti (excellent) and the lasagna (amazing). Their calamari also has a few shrimp and (I think) some bay scallops, so that’s a great addition. And their cocktails are outstanding - potent but flavorful. I don’t get a chance to go to Red Hook much, but when I do, I definitely want to stop here. It’s on the “main road” of Red Hook, and there are definitely some cute shops and coffee places around, and of course, there’s Ikea not too far. This restaurant, though, deserves your business.
5 stars to food, service and atmosphere!!!! Cozy and “moody.” They’ve got oldies playing with vibey lighting. I was really drawn by light fixtures at the bar and the overall design of the bar. Portions were perfectly sized, flavors were SPOT ON. Pictures really don’t do it justice but the brussel sprouts with arugula were really nice and cronchy. Beets tasted like a balanced appetizer dessert, not too sweet, the honey nor the Gorgonzola overpowered and the walnuts were a nice addition for texture. Focaccia was soft but also perfectly toasted with olive oil and fresh rosemary. Our pasta dishes were cooked perfectly in terms of al dente, and richness in sauce. We got the hazelnut cookie cake that just a big mic drop lol Anyways, highly recommend as their service was lovely as well
My girlfriend and I wandered in after a day at Ikea and we couldn't have been luckier. The food is really amazing, like better than some michelin star restaurants i've been too. Hope thats not too much hype but every dish was excellent. The brussel sprouts and the beets were both light and flavorful. Dont forget the foccacia. We also got a spicy sausage pasta (paccheri) which was my favorite and the mushroom pasta (pappardelle) was rich and tasty. The meal was topped off by the gianduiotto hazelnut cake that I can't stop thinking about. Can't wait to come back!
Our second time here, because we loved it so much last year we needed to come back. This visit was again well worth it. We were greeted promptly and cheerfully ( I didn't catch the name of our hostess but she was great!) The food and cocktails are exceptional. Risotto croquettes with sausage and gorgonzola as a starter, agnolotti ragu ( the Bolognese was velvety smooth and amazingly flavorful) and Conghiglie Cenere ( house made shells with a gorgonzola sauce and chopped olives) as our mains. We had to try the Tuscan Fries and are now addicted. Gran Madre and the Vanchiglia for our dinner cocktails, with a negroni with dessert. Everything was fantastic. Dessert was also lovely, a butter cake base with hazelnut spread and a whipped topping . (Gianduiotto) -I am taking the names from the receipt, there is no chance I could remember the spelling.- Our server, Natalie, was wonderful. She was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations and overall helped make our night amazing.
Drove an hour and a half to meet friends and try this spot and it was totally worth it! Great cocktails, food, wine, and service! Enjoyable atmosphere, jazzy vibe. Alessandro and other staff friendly, helpful, and professional. Loved the carciofi, squid ink pasta, fritto misto, chicken milanese. All delish! Would have loved to try the vitello tonnato but didn't see it on the menu. Very good Barbera d-Alba (would like to see more bottles in that price range). Great Vanchiglia martini! Looking forward to returning!
On my visit to NY, I went to Brooklyn and discovered Bar Mario, a bar that has all the magic you're looking for, with excellent service down to the last detail. It offers a variety of drinks and delicious prepared dishes. The menu is incredible, I highly recommend it. I will definitely be back Thank you so much!!
We arrived earlier than the reservation time and received a warm welcome, along with excellent service. Feel like home. We ordered two appetizers, two pastas, and three drinks. The 3rd drink, we wanted something mezcal, and the bartender made the one beyond our expectations, five stars plus! Spaghetti hangover I love it! My bf got cacio e pepe, too good, he didnt want to share with me, haha. Definitely, we will come back!!!
Sometimes a restaurant is truly deserving of the many 5-star reviews. Bar Mario is one of those. From start to finish, the attention to detail, the pace and progression of the meal, and the taste and presentation of each dish were all impeccable. There is just so much more care in everything they do at this restaurant….We felt extremely special. We were a large group so we tried all the pastas and were all uniquely delicious. The ribeye steak cook to perfection (one of the evening’s specials) were standouts. To cap the meal Chef Alessandro came out to keeps us company with a fantastic Amaro. What a stupendous experience!!
This was such a pleasant surprise! When another place we were planning to go to was full, we walked in here, lured by the lively atmosphere and it was such a good call. Friendly service and pastas that were devine. We ordered the cacio e pepe and the mushroom pastas and both were outstanding - perfectly cooked and so flavorful. My partner also got a chocolate hazelnut tart which she exclaimed to be one of the best desserts she’s had this year. We’ll be back!
I can’t tell you how amazing this place was. From the atmosphere to the food to the service it was incredible. Most notable item for me was the Caesar salad and the tiramisu. The salad was so well done and the dressing they made anchovy free and was perfect. Love the wine we had and would absolutely come back again and recommend to any friend
We sat outside for dinner and there was lots of seating with a variety of tables for different sized parties. The pasta dishes were superb. Like the best pasta I have ever had. The dessert and espresso was perfection for a post-meal dish. The service was good, the waiter was attentive to our dietary restrictions and attentive. The drinks were also made to our specific specifications.
What a lovely place! The food was delicious and creative, the service and ambience was exceptional- Genti our waiter was amazing with the food/ wine recommendations and service. We felt welcomed immediately and had a lovely time. Spaghetti hangover and seafood salad were a highlight (as well as the perfectly crispy tuscan fries), will definitely return.
