Yang Chow Pasadena Reviews
Our family goes here every Feb to celebrate two b-days. The food and service is always great but have noticed within the last few years that it's looking a little run down outside. At a minimum they should replace the cloth awnings. Parking can be a challenge when they get busy, we typically go when they open so it's not too bad. As for food, would definitely recommend their slippery shrimp, this is always a treat when we go here 😁
Forgot to take pics🙄but food was excellent, Slippery Shrimp and chicken wings were tops. Excellent customer service and atmosphere very pleasant. Definitely going back
Been coming both here and to the China Town location for decades and they never disappoint. My picky kids love it here too. We love the slippery shrimp, Yang Chow fried rice, wonton soup, moo shu pork w pancakes and pork green beans 🤤 sometimes we get the beef and broccoli or orange chicken if we’re in the mood. The Pasadena location can use some updating, however it’s also nostalgic the way it is 🫶🏼
I absolutely love Yang Chow! As someone who's obsessed with Chinese food, this place hits all the right notes for me. The slippery shrimp is incredible – crispy, flavorful, and honestly addictive. The Sautéed Beef & Scallops & Broccoli is another favorite of mine – the combination is perfect and everything is cooked to perfection. Everything I've tried here has been fantastic, from the hot and sour soup to the kung pao chicken. The portions are generous, the service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Whether I'm dining in or getting takeout, Yang Chow never disappoints. If you love Chinese food as much as I do, you need to check this place out. It's become one of my go-to spots in Pasadena!
I have been a customer since the 1980s my grandmother went there. 2025 this is still a wonderful very good Chinese restaurant they are hanging in there. I went in 09 26 25 I have health issues going to the City of Hope. so treated myself. awesome food. no disappointment at all great service. thank you Yang Chow restaurant. prices not their fault. the economy of now 2025. so I will be back regularly.
This is one of our family's favorite place to get together. They can accommodate a group of 6-10 people easily. The slippery shrimp is everyone's favorite, but the sweet and sour fish fillet, the shrimp fried rice, the sautéed string beans, and the mooshu pork are excellent too! I haven't had any dish that I didn't like! We've been coming to Yang Chow (downtown location at first and Pasadena location in the last 10 years) for many years, and it will continue to be our family place for many more!
I had the pleasure of dining at Yang Chow in Pasadena, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely amazing, with large portions that left us more than satisfied. To top it off, the staff was incredibly kind and made my mom’s birthday extra special by surprising her with a little birthday ice cream and a cheerful song. Their hospitality really set the tone for a fantastic meal. Highly recommend for great food and even better service!
Food is always delicious but keep that order simple!! Egg drop soup (white pepper is already on the table make sure you add that before you eat your bowl) Egg fried rice Slippery shrimp Crispy Szechuan beef Easy meal for 2-4 people!! Might have to double up on that slippery shrimp when it gets low half way!!
We went here for mother's day. Have to say this little mom n pops restaurant is great. The food was absolutely delicious. Service top notch. Complimentary tea. The food portion is amazing. Also there's a celebrity hall of fame . We spent over $100 well worth it. And we took an amazing amount home as well
Pretty old school restaurant with white table cloths and table side service. Dinner on a Saturday night was pretty packed so the wait was awhile. Once sat though the service was quick and the food came out even faster. The best things we ate were the Moo Shu chicken wraps, they were very savory and flavorful. The slippery shrimp was definitely memorable and apparently iconic- and I can see why! The texture was so satisfying and reminded me of corn nuts but in a good way? The rest of the dishes were pretty standard, but overall it was a nice family meal !
Nice place for American style Chinese food. Very courteous and friendly service. Hot & Sour Soup, sautéed green beans w/ pork, Kung Pao Chicken and Sweet & Sour Pork . Delish
From the red carpet to the linen table booths, Yang Chow is an old school restaurant serving Chinese American dishes like moo shu pancakes, lo mein and kung pao. While they are known for their slippery shrimp, which is really good, my favorite and go to dish is good old old kung pao chicken — minus the peanuts. It hits every time. This place can get busy, but there are plenty of shops in the area to visit while you wait. The staff moves quick, but friendly. Prices are decent and while very old school, the place is always clean. Tip: If you have time to spare love, and love old school Kung Fun movies, make your way down to the Chinatown Central Plaza and check out the Bruce Lee statue. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the restaurant.
We made reservations for 12:30pm on a Saturday for 11 people but to our pleasant surprise it was not busy which was great. Quiet atmosphere. This is a traditional family style menu. All dishes were cooked well and flavorful. Slippery shrimp and moo shu wraps were my favorite. Large portions to share and we also had alot left over to take home. Hospitality was nice and we all took home a 2025 Year Of The Snake Chinese zodiac calendar.
Old school Chinese spot with authentic vibes. Food was average at best. The famous slippery shrimp dish was by far the best on the table. Don't miss that one. Service is fast. They have their own parking which is nice.
I dined in at Yang Chow for lunch with a friend. I used to dine at the DTLA location many years ago and the food was great. I was very excited about dining at Yang Chow at the Pasadena location. I was very disappointed in all the dishes we ordered. Nothing tasted as I remembered. The interior of restaurant also needs a much needed renovation. The carpeting looks filthy and worn beyond measure. The walls could definitely use a fresh coat of paint. Thankfully, the service was great! The service staff was very attentive. I have no intention of dining at this restaurant again.
