El Bambu Peekskill Reviews
So hubby and I are always looking for small, quaint, reasonably priced restaurants to venture out too on our weekly excursions. Unfortunately, I haven’t had anything to really write about up until yesterday. This little mom and Pop joint is the bomb at first when you walk in it’s small yet clean has some unique decor and I was confused as to whether it was Salvadoran or Guatemalan. In any event as soon as we walked in, we were serviced right away. The menus were simple, but had quite a bit of intriguing dishes to choose from. I ordered a dish containing skirt steak, beef rib, pork and shrimp. It was out of this world. The portions were hearty and the meal itself was on point. Don’t even get me started on the Pupusas 🫓 HOLY SMOKES, they were amazing! I’m a Pupusa connoisseur, so they had to come correct and that they did. Hubby wasn’t feeling too adventurous and ordered a hamburger and fries which he said was pretty good. The hamburger automatically came with avocado, onions, lettuce, and bacon, simple yet right up his alley. If you’re in the area and looking for a quaint yet, flavorful mom and Pop joint definitely stop by this place. I usually always have a negative because I like to keep it real, But I really don’t have one. Ok, the hot water in the bathroom doesn’t work, but they had soap and a nice painting on the wall that made up for it. Definitely check this place out!
Delicious food. The pupusas were amazing! Will definitely be stopping by again
The best damn he huevos rancheros I've ever had!!
We stopped by during our hiking trip. Good food and good people.

Really good Guatemalan food for more than reasonable prices. Friendly people here too
The food is incredible! And the atmosphere is great! Plus, the prices are reasonable. I'll definitely be back.
My friend and I were really hungry after a long hike and were looking for a simple place with quality and affordable food. This restaurant was exactly what we were looking for. The servers were very friendly, the food was delicious and inexpensive. Just a heads up, they don't have a liquor license. Definitely give this place a try!
I went to eat and the food was delicious. The best Bandeja Paisa
Some of the best food I’ve ever had in an authentic, mom & pops setting. Great service, super affordable.
I just stopped there by chance and saw the tamales for less than 4$, I expected them to be small for that price, so I ordered 2 of pork and 2 of chicken. The lady came with a big and heavy bag, those tamales were huge. I had to share them with my coworkers, one tamal was more than enough. In taste, the tamales were great, all the corn paste tasted like the stew in it, amazing. The ladys who attended me were super nice and friendly. I'll come back for sure!
Huevos Rancheros were delish and the tortillas tasted homemade and fresh. They quickly accommodated our large parts, and everyone was happy and well fed. Will definitely come again for this authentic, local favorite
!Que rico! My family and I loved our food. The portions were very fair and pricing was reasonable. Great quality, flavorful dishes. I look forward to returning. I’m also thankful for our mesera who was very patient and kind to entertain my limited Spanish speaking skills haha. Some feedback: Service was a little slow at times. I would like to see the staff check on tables more often, as there were moments when we needed an extra plate, napkins, etc. and it was hard to get someone’s attention pero that’s okay, and can be improved upon.

This place is wonderful. You get a lot of food! The decor is beautiful too, with decorative table cloths, bamboo, and incredible paintings on the wall. Andrea was our server and she was very nice. It’s an instant favorite! The only reason for 4 stars is they had some pretty disturbing movie on the tv screen. It was gory and terrifying. If you don’t want to see the tv, sit near the back! We’ll do that next time.
The pupusas were made to order and the curtido was fresh and delicious. I went back 2 days later for the same plate.
The “Specialty of the house” was amazing and so was the horchata. Beautiful decoration. Bathroom had no paper towels nor hand drier… music was loud.
Food was excellent I would actually come back again but the plates are a little to small for my opinion
Delicious cooking at this local eatery. Food is not overcooked unlike similar restaurants in the area.

Good food. Fried fish was great. Chicharron was great. Wish they served beer or alcohol.
Food: for the price and flavor 10/10 Service: a couple of misunderstandings due to language barrier but they accommodated us each time. Atmosphere: clean, bright, and friendly service Overall: Reason this place is not a 4.8 for me is due to the bathroom only having cold water with no paper towels stocked in the bathroom or toilet paper holder for the tp. We’ve been two days in a row
Good service, the Jamaica juice was good. The bean and cheese pupusa was crispy along the edges and flavorful. The sauce and slaw on the side packed a kick and was delicious. The fish dish was well fried and seasoned. The sweet plantain dessert was good, just a bit sweet. Worth a try.

Food is delicious. My issue is with the horrible service provided. Been here twice and noticed my partner and I were ignored by the waitresses both times. Both times made to wait nearly 20 minutes for the check, nobody coming to check if we need anything. Etc just not an enjoyable experience, despite not being busy and seeing the other patrons receive good service.
