Bettina Phoenicia Reviews
Great food and great service!! From the minute you come inside and sit, it was speedy service and the food was amazing!! Ordered the huevos rancheros, taco skillet, and sourdough bread, it was all super yummy and the taste and spice was 10/10. Would definitely come back again, also their baked goods were delish! We snagged a pan de muerto and the taste was yum 💛
This review is in need of a proper back story: I was introduced to the owner of Sweet Sue’s through her cousin, who was a regular client of one of my French bistros on the UWS in the early naughties. It was the first place that I had eaten in, in the Catskills, and I became a regular for the next 20 years. Eventually, she shut up shop to retire, and I had not been up to Phoenicia since. Then recently the daughter of the owner of the Bettina Café invited me for lunch, and it was a welcomed surprise to find out that her mum & I were old friends from when she used to dance the night away at my Reggae bar in SoHo, and I dined at her Caribbean restaurant in Fort Greene BK back in the nineties. It seems this location is gifted at bringing friends, family & folks together innit. Well we’re chuffed to bits that a successful biz is still being carried on in this space, as it’s become our favourite go to spot for good food & positive vibes. Bettina is bang on ;-)
We’ve been here a couple of times with our dog and everyone is so friendly. The pancakes are delicious! This time I tried their Italian wedding soup and it was so good. Can’t wait to come back.
We had dinner last night. The server Jesse was very fast and efficient and very friendly and gave us great recommendations on food choices! The dining room area is very cozy and welcoming. Each table had a simple and elegant base of flowers. The presentation of each food plate was impeccable!! The mezze plate was delicious! The tomato jam and whipped feta and hummus were delicious! The bread served with butter was very good. The entrees we ordered Ahi tuna over jasmine rice and the linguine with shrimp were both very flavourful . The flourless chocolate torre was amazing . The coffee is always very good, breakfast, lunch or dinner!! The quality fo food is very good and prices are reasonably! We regularly go to this great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner !!
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the Catskills! They take classics and give them a super fun twist. Don't miss their crème brûlée French toast! Their chicken sandwich was also stunning — delicious sauce and I loved the pickled vegetables. The baristas are also incredible and so friendly. Loved their matcha latte. Super cozy vibe, friendliest staff and fantastic food 10/10.
Such a gem in Phoenicia!!! The dinner is exceptional. Get the braised beef, chicken & the apple crumble for dessert. Fantastic food, atmosphere & service. The breakfast is also great!
A perfect cafe-restaurant for Phoenicia! This place feels homey and down-to-earth but the food is city quality—Delicious! The pancakes are so good, the taco skillet is really authentic, the daily specials tend to rock. You can just hang out with a cup of coffee or stuff your face.
The pancakes with berry and lavender compote were absolutely amazing. The cortada was a great coffee too. Best place around for brunch or lunch! It was cozy and the people were friendly.

Had brunch with my girlfriend here this past weekend was greated by the Chef/Owner Rebecca, we were sat promptly and given incredible service. the food was incredible, pastries divine and overall a 10/10 experience. Would recommend to any one local to try or have any fisherman, hikers, skiiers make their go to spot !
My friends and I stopped here during our New Year’s trip, and I’m so glad we did! Everything was delicious. The coffee and house-blend tea were both amazing. Everyone got pancakes to share, and we all agreed that they were phenomenal—very possibly the best pancakes we’d ever had! They legitimately brought tears to one of my friend’s eyes. The fries were also especially delicious. Every person said that their meal tasted fantastic. The owner and waitstaff were so friendly, kind, and welcoming. It felt like being among old friends or family. We keep talking about coming to visit the area for our next trip specifically for Bettina!
This is our local cafe and we love it. The breakfast sandwich is excellent. I big it up to everyone I bring here, and no one is ever disappointed. The staff are so cute, friendly, smiley. Pastries are good. Recently been enjoying the French onion soup. It’s a special though, so don’t get your hopes up. Really lucky to have Bettina down the street. I make excuses to try and get here regularly. Diet be damned.
Today was my 2nd time there- excellent. We had the panini fantastic. Not to be missed. Just realized I didn't post about my 1st visit... about 4 weeks ago I had their huevos rancheros , probably the best huevos rancheros I have ever tasted. Did I mention the tasty cocktails- check them out.
We stumbled upon Bettina’s after learning there was a 2 hour wait at the Phoenicia Diner. Lucky for us since the food at Bettina’s was delicious, and chef/owner Rebecca was so welcoming! Some menu standouts were the silver dollar pancakes*, Japanese friend chicken sandwich, and egg sandwich with bacon. *Rebecca uses the same pancake recipe as Sweet Sue’s, a beloved local restaurant formerly in the building
Adorable and delicious brunch and coffee! Best pancakes I've ever had – a must-try. The perfect local gathering spot to watch the snow, relax after a long hike, or meet people! I also love their attachment to the establishment's history.
Bettina’s in Phoenicia is easily one of the best breakfast, brunch, and lunch spots in the Catskills. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they make some of the best lattes, coffee, and espresso drinks in town. The coffee is not the only pick me up, the friendly smiles and good conversations immediately elevate the immaculate vibe of this place. I always get a latte with vanilla and caramel in it, or the homemade chai. The pancakes are truly the best in the area, fluffy, fresh, and unforgettable. It’s my favorite weekend treat, or if they have it, the pistachio croissant and other baked goods are so good. Their grab-and-go options are always fresh, handmade, and perfect if you’re exploring Phoenicia or headed out for a hike. Everything tastes like it’s made with local, high-quality ingredients and real care. Her soups are also fantastic. Not too salty and made with a lot of love. If you’re looking for a cozy café in Phoenicia, a local breakfast spot, or a fresh, homemade lunch in the Catskills, Bettina’s is the place. Highly recommend!

Super cute store. The staffs are the most welcoming and caring, the orange and cranberry scones are amazing. There are many beautiful stores to visit on the same street- it’s a great spot for some rest before going up to Hunter.

Family came for breakfast. Everyone left full and happy. Pancakes with the berry compote were so fluffy and delicious. Huevos rancheros were on point even the oatmeal slapped. Super nice people, dare I say just as good if not better than Phoenicia diner.
We came to Bettina with a group of 14 and had a great time! The place had a really nice vibe and our server Ricky took great care of us. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered! They also had gluten free dessert options that actually tasted great! We also got to meet the owner and you can tell the staff really cares. I would definitely come back the next time I’m in Catskill!! 😊
Cute little coffee shop around the corner from the rail trail. Coffee was good, but it wasn't very busy at all and it took a long time for three of us to get coffee to go. I would come back though and give it another try by dining in one day.

It’s Columbus weekend around 2~3, lunch time was almost over. Used plates, cups are all gathered at one table with no time to take care of, showing it just experienced a good battle. We found a table and sat down directly, following the instructions note at front desk. I thought it will take a while being served, but we were well taken care of shortly. Waitresses are nice and foods are good except one dish. Bettina Bowl; a name after the store. It’s not a typical Japanese miso ramen. More like a fusion with some leftovers with gloppy salty water “in plate”. There must be some misunderstanding about ramen or the chief hate to work on that day, either way. None negotiable!!
Lovely, warm and comfy cafe, with a country store feel. A perfect stopping place on along route 28. Stopped in for Saturday brunch — our first time there. While the menu had a variety of breakfast dishes, I was surprised not to see a basic breakfast dish like bacon & eggs. It was only after I had ordered that I realized they had a separate “side orders” menu where you could piece together something like that à la carte, but it was way on the far side of the lunch menu. I had even asked the staff member who took my order if the egg sandwich and egg taco skillet were the only egg dishes, and she said “yes.” A number of other staff let-downs added up to a frustrating first visit: delivering my pot of tea to the table with no mug, forgetting to put the salsa on the taco skillet, never bringing us the cinnamon roll we ordered. And it was not busy! Despite these frustrations, it’s a nice place with a friendly, comfortable vibe. I will give them a second try, but things have to go much better next time, otherwise I doubt I’d bother returning a third time.

We popped in to grab some Togo food. The lines moved pretty quickly to order. The staff was friendly. They were out of the cuban special. We ordered to go the French toast, and grilled cheese. We waited over 45 minutes for the food to come out. And it was already cold. They forgot the syrup and whipped cream with the French toast. The flavor of the grilled cheese was decent but probably better hot. The French fries were rock hard and mostly unedible. Probably try some place else the reminder of our trip.

We went to Bettina for a late lunch yesterday and ended up walking out after about 25 minutes. We were seated in the almost empty restaurant (there was no one in the room where we sat and one party in the front room), ordered a bowl of lentil soup, huevos and a taco skillet. The waitress wearing overalls took our order and then reappeared a few minutes later with what we thought was our soup. Wrong! She actually sat down at a nearby table to eat what we soon found out was the last bowl of said soup. After that we waited and waited and waited… a guy finally appeared to say he would check on our order. Ten minutes later we just got up and walked out. Never done that before but the insulting soup episode was just too much. We live full time in the area and I don’t think we will ever go back to Bettina.
