La Piola Piazza Risorgimento Reviews
Thanks to the team La Piola for a great day. We join them for a lunch of 50 people and we had a great time. The food was outstanding. Probably the best tagliolini I had in the area by some distance!! Grazie
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The scent of truffles filled the air, adding a luxurious touch to the whole evening. We also really enjoyed the biodynamic wine – it was excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. Highly recommended!
The best food of the travel. Unfortunately, the service is terrible. The hostes was rude when we asked if we could take a table outside. She shouldn't be on the front office if she doesn't like people… The service on the table was super slow and not attentive. Waited for a considerable time for taking our order.
Great spot on the town square, you can either sit outside in the open, outside in a glass enclosure or inside in the restaurant. Food was tasty and well presented and they cook regional specialties- I had pasta with truffles hand grated onto my plate and a Bunet hazelnut dessert. Service was excellent and attentive.
If you don't have the possibility of dining at Piazza Duomo, you won't be disappointed by their sister trattoria La Piola. Here you can find all of Piedmont's traditions such as tajarin, plin and wonderful cheeses and wine. I suggest eating outside as the restaurant inside is too brightly lit.
One of my favourite meals while travelling in Italy this past September was at La Piola. We were seated on the terrace at our request and had a beautiful view of the plaza. I ordered the Misto di Antipasti (tasting of appetizers, including veal and tuna) at the recommendation of a local shop owner and the homemade tajarin with black truffles. What a treat to have truffle shaved onto the pasta right at our table! The service was prompt and attentive, with our server often coming over to pour more wine. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable fine dining experience focused on regional cuisine. Note: I believe there were two seatings for dinner and reservations were required.
Absolutely delicious and great service! Had a table for two in the corner of the glass atrium (air conditioned). Lovely location in the square. I'd recommend booking in advance. For dress code a nice dress/shirt & pants are appropriate. Food was well priced. Starters are around €12-15, mains €18-20 and dessert €5-7. Local wine which was recommended to us by the waiter was €22. Really recommend eating here!!!! Not to be missed if staying in Alba.
Strategic position in the very center of Alba, Great food at reasonable price. Service is efficient and pretty fast. Tagliolini al tartufo bianco d’alba is a must

Perfect lunch. The setting is great. In Alba’s main square. I had the cheese plate, amazing cheese, all local. Then of course the local agnolotti. And later a local meat dish. All superb. With grea…

The best option for you that wants to eat awesome food with great price. Don't forget to order pasta with tartufo bianco.
La Piola La Piola delivers a solid and reliable interpretation of traditional Piedmontese cuisine in the center of Alba. The cooking is well executed, focused on local dishes and familiar flavors rather than innovation, which works well in this context. Vitello tonnato was correctly prepared, with tender meat and a balanced, classic sauce. The carne cruda was fresh and clean, respectful of raw material quality, and the plin showed good technique, even if the presentation remained straightforward. Desserts were simple and consistent with the trattoria-style approach. The wine selection is thoughtfully curated, with good representation of the region. Verduno Pelaverga proved to be a particularly good match for the menu, offering freshness and drinkability without overpowering the dishes. Service was efficient and professional, though more functional than engaging, and the atmosphere is lively and informal, in line with expectations for a well-known local restaurant. Overall, La Piola is clearly above average and offers good value for the quality delivered. While not aiming for fine dining refinement, it is a dependable choice for classic Alba cuisine, justifying a strong four-star rating.
Solid 3, light 4 rating. Fast service, nice staff, good food. We paid a hefty price for a dish with butter noodles and white truffles so we could try the truffles. The dish overpowered the truffle flavor, which was a bit of a disappointment for such an expensive dish. You also feel a bit like you are sitting in a fish bowl when seated in the glass box in the plaza. Historic Alba seems to have a lot of overpriced, touristy restaurants but this one is definitely one of the better options!
La Piola is a simple yet chic restaurant found smack bang in the middle of Alba next to the Duomo. It offered up an unusual mix of regional dishes. Hubby started with the Tripe which I found quite tasty considering I don’t normally eat offal. I had the Russian Salad (can’t really go wrong there). I loved my Ravioli di Gallina in Brodo (basically the most delicious chicken consommé with Ravioli I’ve ever had). The only disappointment was the Fritto Misto alla Piemontese. It was a strange mixture of fried foods including brain, meats, cheese, biscuit and fruits. So the plate was both savoury and sweet? There was a nice selection of cheese and the desserts more than made up for it. Also great local wines at reasonable prices. Staff all spoke English and were very attentive and friendly.

Go somewhere else! Its overpriced and not to friendly, 170 Euro for 2 pers, 3 courses with 1 glass of wine and almost only vegeterian!

My husband and I visited La Piola Duomo recently and were unfortunately disappointed. Most of our dishes arrived cold. When we ordered the vanilla tart, we specifically asked if it was served warm; the waiter confirmed it was, yet it arrived ice cold. When we asked to have it heated, the waiter told us they simply 'couldn't do it.' To make matters worse, the host spent the entire evening drinking with other guests, which felt quite unprofessional for a restaurant of this caliber. While they did apologize and removed the cake from our bill at the end, the overall experience was a letdown.
