Tasty americano! Spacious cafe with many rooms and also outdoor seating. It gets busy on the weekends so expect to wait for some time. Family-friendly and great to do work (Wifi offered)

My favorite lunch and breakfast place. The food is fresh (cooked from scratch), delicious and perfect. The espresso drinks are authentic.

Excellent tiramisu, only served on the weekends. It’s a lovely cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and tables by cute windows☀️🍊

Wonderful spot for a warm breakfast croissant and stiff cup of coffee. If you’re lucky look for the vintage vespas or Lamborghini up front. Ciao!

Really loved the European feel of this unique cafe. Relaxed with great (strong!) coffee, perfectly made croissants, and a delicious omelet in a nice, quiet room. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great start to their day.

Don’t know how you could give the food less than 5 stars. I got pesto and my husband got carbonara. The sauce was soo thick, creamy, and flavourful. Portion size was generous, I had to take some home (mostly so I could enjoy again later haha). The coffee taste in our iced coffee was very good. Will definitely be back. Thanks for a great lunch!

Very nice hidden jewel in San mateo. It's pretty authentic Italian food. The lasagna is 100% homemade and the omelettes are pretty good as well. They have some pastries, and canned drinks on display. The coffee is very good, and made fresh right behind the counter.

In A Nutshell: -Fiero Caffe is a small sidewalk cafe located along the border of downtown San Mateo. -It's actually very spacious once you walk inside. -If you love a good omelet I suggest you either order the "egg" or "sicilian" omelettes. -The Sicilian has some very good sausage inside it! -If you can grab a table out front, I would do that especially in the morning. Overall, this is a very nice little cafe in San Mateo.

Breakfast? This is the place. Had omelette, egg & cheese croissant and coffee - everything tasted great. Outside seating is nicely decorated, flowers and greens. Will be back!

Supporting small business... came to one of our very favorite places — “Luigi” keeps us well fed (food’s amazing here) & was a big influence on our itinerary choices when we went to Italy ~18 months ago. He & his team are such humanitarians, so considerate & thoughtful to all their guests. It’s like having a little bit of Italy right here in San Mateo, CA!! 🙏🌟💙 Abondanza... mangia, mangia!!! Prego!! Grazie!! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹 #smallbusinesssaturday #supportsmallbusiness #oneworld #onerace

Fiero Cafe is truly a hidden gem in San Mateo! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the passion and authenticity behind everything they do. Filippo Guarino, the owner, pours his heart into every dish, and it shows. His handcrafted Italian food is nothing short of extraordinary, fresh ingredients, rich flavors, and the kind of attention to detail you only find in true Italian cooking. I tried the catzo sandwich, and it was fantastic, perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. On top of the food, Filippo makes you feel like family, welcoming you with warmth and genuine hospitality. If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in the Bay Area, Fiero Cafe is a must. Do yourself a favor and go, you’ll leave planning your next visit before you even walk out the door.

We went there at 7.10am after dropping parents off at the airport. Full menu was available within 20 mins. The owner is amazing , very warm and welcoming. The interiors are well appointed, bright and clean. We had the marsala chicken and a grilled chicken sandwich. Both of the dishes were phenomenal and I would 100% visit again. Drop by this place you will not want to miss it.

Nice coffee and brunch. Environment is quiet and makes me feel relaxed. I usually enjoy the time with friends here. The speed of serving is not slow. And food here is fresh and not frozen. Heated Croissant bread are also worth trying.

Ist time here and impressed. Wanted coffee in a real cup and almond croissant and stayed for the ambiance! Italian music playing in the background and a window seat to view the creek. Talk about relaxing ☺️ A lot of locals here so I know they've found a great spot!!!They offer breakfast and lunch, will have to try these another time. Can imagine this spot with the umbrellas on a summer morning. Give it a try ❤️

Had the fresh pesto pasta, it's was really really good. Coffee was awesome. Don't miss it if you're around the area. It was a little crowded on a Sunday around noon, still, staff was really friendly.

I went here because I was interested in visiting the local coffee shops in my area. Little did I know that this place would top my last favorite place by a large margin. When I walked in there are these huge windows and the place is light and airy. There are obvious friends that were laughing and talking with the owner. When I ordered my coffee the owner came to answer a question I had between two of his drinks. They brought the coffee to me. When I had my first sip, I had a euphoric moment. I was in a negative headspace and this got me to see a new perspective. The experience and the quality of coffee is phenomenal. At the end, I didn’t need to find a bin to put the cup away. This makes the total experience a 12/10. Parking is difficult, but with good reason.

Amazing breakfast/lunch spot for authentic Italian food. The service was great, pastas on point, and they have a nice little patio where you can bring your dog

Don't let the sign from the street fool you, this place is really nice with very good food and my friends love the coffee, I don't drink it. They have breakfast and lunch, Italian food is the theme. I had an omelette and it came with a small salad and a little bread. It was light and delicious. They have three separate rooms to sit in and has a very nice vibe. I will certainly come again.

Fiero Cafe is a great spot for a casual but satisfying meal. The pasta here is authentic and delicious — the bolognese especially stands out, rich and full of flavor. Portions are just right, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. They also serve omelets, which make a nice lighter option if you’re not in the mood for pasta. Overall, a cozy place with tasty, well-made dishes that feel genuinely Italian.

Wanted a quick breakfast sandwich, which wasn’t exactly on the menu as I wanted it, but they kindly made it for me anyway. It was delicious, and the coffee was good. A lovely building, and a nice front porch area. I’d like to come back to try the chicken piccata sometime.

Lovely treasure to find good food, coffee and ambiance on a Sunday morning at 7:30 am. Please note that the parking in front is limited. The best was the salmon piccata!!! Will need to return. Loved also the pear, walnut, arugula and gorgonzola salad.

Best hidden gem in San Mateo. Great service, authentic home made food. Best of Italy right at your doorstep. Latte is fantastic. Try the Sicilian omelette, and bruschetta. You won’t regret it.

Cute Italian cafeteria, delicious food, good service and relaxed ambience. The homemade tiramisu is a touch of heaven in the end but really everything was great ! I got the smoked salmon omelette and my daughter got the salmon penne pasta ….. two different dishes of salmon, very different tastes and both were yummy. My some got a chicken breast panini and that too was awesome…. the chicken was soft, supple and flavorful and the panini was gigantic ! Lots of seating both indoors and outdoors, nicely decorated and maintained.

Another place I can trust for a cafe in San Mateo. Spacious and welcoming. It is fun to see chefs making pizza and other food in front of you. I got a panini and it is too big to finish in a single meal. We had a good time and I would like to try other items in the menu as well.

Charming Italian cafe near downtown San Mateo. Tucked away next to a bus stop on the busy El Camino Real, it’s a nice reprieve from the street traffic where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee with solid Italian food. Street parking is very hard to find, but there’s a paid parking lot across the street.

I had one of the best omelette I’ve ever had here! It’s also amazing how we can get pasta for breakfast. My friend did and I’d love to try that when we come back. We were blown away by the coffee. I had the macchiato and my friend had a latte. We asked the staff working at the checkout if they sell the coffee beans. He said no but took us to the storage room and let us took photos of the package so we can hopefully find them ourselves. That’s incredible kind of him! The atmosphere was great, too. We enjoyed sitting outside.

The food is good as well as the coffee and fair prices. What shines the most is the atmosphere and the people, the staff is more than friendly and just spread joy. It is my favorite place to study or do work and grab some coffee and pastry. They also have lunch options which are so yummy.

Great place walking distance from hospital. Perfect stop by if you have lots of appointments. Friendly stuff, fast service and delicious cappuccino ! Smoked salmon omelette is must to try ( its with goat cheese inside, and if you're allergic or don't like goat cheese make sure you tell them to sub with mozzarella, i did the same). Highly recommend this cafe !

Outstanding neighborhood Italian restaurant! Hours of operation are very limited(7am to 2 pm). Excellent breakfast/brunch menu options, and espresso drink selection. $10 mimosa Chianti, Pinot Grigio. I recommend their spaghetti with fresh clams, prawns, tomato, asparagus in a garlic wine marinara sauce. Really loved their eggplant parmigiana: peas, mozzarella cheese in a light tomato sauce. No pasta, but absolutely delicious! Great selection of teas, coffee, and espresso drinks!

Came here for brunch. Ordered a smoked salmon omelette, and my friend got a sicilian omelette. The smoked salmon omelette had a very satisfying mix of flavorful salmon and cheese. We also shared a bruschetta, which had a generous share of tomato and oil with some fresh greens. The ambience was very relaxed and soothing, not very loud with spaced out tables and an open airy feel. Overall a very satisfying brunch in a pleasant environment.

Cosy Italian café with great food Ordered a risotto with salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the risotto is also tasty. I heard that they served really good desserts which were not on the menu. The coffee price is also affordable. Will definitely come back again. 2nd visit: Had a croissant, cannoli, and iced latte. Love the cannoli but the croissant and iced latte were a bit disappointing. Croissant was very dry and not flaky. Iced latte watery

A wonderful Italian cafe. The dishes here are prepared well with quality ingredients. The Mediterranean omelette was very tasty and came with great quality bread. Ask for avocado and you won’t be disappointed. The cafe also has a nice selection of pastries to choose from. Looking forward to coming back.

My favorite cafe in San Mateo. I dont mind having to drive 30 min just to get breakfast or Lunch here. The food, coffee, staff and atmosphere is always so great. Great salmon and Sicilian omlets, yummy pastries. Coffee not so much, most likey dues to bad beans, Americano taste burned with a unpleasent aftertaste. Will still go back for the food and great service.

Such a lovely place to have brunch with friends and families on weekends. They divide the area into 3 main themes - cozy, casual, and elegant (in my opinion) - which I think is also suitable for single diners. Customer service was super friendly. To be fair, they deserved a five-star quality if the smoke salmon was not too salty on the day I visited.

Lovely little place for a nice weekend brunch. Got the latte and a vegetarian pesto panini. Latte was average, not that great. I’d give it a 3/5. But the pesto panini was amazing. Loved the pesto sauce. Lots of seating options but does get quite busy in some hours so might not get a seat. Will come back to try the pasta once.

Pretty decent spot in downtown San Mateo! I like that it isn’t commercialised and seems to be owned by some locals. The spot itself has a nice vibe to it with a garden in the backyard. I got the Sicilian omelette which was delicious! Really good sausage in there. My latte was too hot and nothing to brag about but still not bad. I’d come again for sure!

Our coworker recommended this place because she used to dine here frequently. It is an Italian cafe with breakfast and lunch menus. It’s cozy and service is friendly. We came in a large group and ordered many pasta dishes including ravioli, carbonara, and penne. The food is homemade and delicious, looking forward to coming back here sometime.

This is a really nice place to get brunch/lunch with friends or family. There's plenty of food options - from pasta to omelettes - and the pasta in particular is very good. Their coffee is strong if that suits your tastes. The service is friendly and makes the atmosphere so welcoming and cozy. They've always been a pleasure when I go! Parking can be hard since it's on a busy street, so I recommend finding parking in a structure in downtown San Mateo and walking over. If you live in the area I recommend walking instead of driving.

Delicious Penne Carbonara, just the right amount of sauce. Crunchy onions in there, unexpected but ok. Maybe some more green garnish/green herbs would have been nice. Also less expensive prices and much more smiles. Nestled between El Camino & San Mateo Creek, the atmosphere is really nice but it is stinky inside and out. The inside could use much better ventillation. Must park further, but that should not cause any problems.

I had an omelette w/ mushrooms, green peppers, onions etc in it. The veggies part were delicious but the egg part was a little firm for me cause I prefer very soft and creamy egg for omelette. I also got latte which was good.

3 years ago I rated this place 5 stars. Unfortunately skimpflation has extended its grasp to Fiero. A shame because the flavors are great. However the last few times I've ordered the Penne Salmon pasta it's primarily pasta with very little salmon. I found myself walking away hungry and not satisfied. The price of the dish has risen significantly yet the portion of the pasta stayed the same and salmon is near non-existent. I hope things change to feel more fair.
